I was there too. Hotter than hell. The guy who smashed the bottle over your head was probably the same idiot who yelled and got in everyone's way all night.
peter's voice sounds hoarse ... great band, great post! but as a deebs fan i just wanted to add that he definitely sang this a hell of a lot better most nites. found this lookin for change with the changin times ... wonder if it's out there ... thanks for the dbs stuff!
I saw these guys at the Rathskeller in Kenmore Square Boston in 1986 or so. A roomate of mine interviewed them for a teen magazine he was writing for. We got to speak to Will Rigby for about an hour before the gig. Great guy and great band. They jsut had no luck with record labels. If somethig weird or goofy could happen to a band's record label it happened to the db's label.
I saw them at Tulane's McAllister auditorium, opening for REM. 1985, I think. I'm a big REM fan but The dBs crushed it that night. Just awesome. And the fact that I was in high school but found myself dancing next to a girl from Tulane, well, that was cool too.
This band was my personal "Beatles" (alongside R.E.M.'s Byrds and The Replacements' Stones) as a kid in the early '80s. I learned every part to every song on every instrument. I was lucky enough to see them several times in the later '80s in New Orleans, LA. Thank you for posting this, it's made me very happy.
Hell yes! Saw 'em at Jimmy's with the Fleshtones the night before Mardi Gras '86, plus a bunch of other times. Used to go see Peter H. play solo at Carrollton Station, later on. Those were fun shows. The Beatles-Byrds-Stones analogy is right on target, yep.

Thank you for posting this. I saw the dB's open for REM in Houston in 1984 and thought they should have been the headliners.
