After buying Mw2 a few days ago and Playin multiplayer for about an hour, It made me realize how better mw3 really is. Every game in mw2, I got noobtubed or killed by a hacker. MW3 was a HUGE improvement in multiplayer.
I played mw2 for the first time since mw3 came out today. For those of you saying its the same game as mw3 need to remember the frustration of noobtubes, commando an OMA. I nearly destroyed my controller. mw3 is at least somewhat balanced.
I think as a game, MW3 has made quite a few nice tweaks to differentiate it from MW2, but the game itself is pretty similar. However, those tweaks have changed how people play the game. The biggest of which is most likely the introduction of point vs. kill streaks. In Mw2, killstreaks were almost unopposed by most players, making them so omnipotent. In MW3, rarely a killstreak will run its full duration, rendering them less useful so the players base their strategy less about them.
Of course any two shooters aren't going to be EXACTLY the same, but the differences that machinimarespawn is pointing out are so miniscule that they have virtually no bearing on the game DESIGN. That's the key to truly defining a game from other games. The gameplay is what you can do, tweak and control. The design is out of the players control and involves things like progression, pacing, balance, size and uniqueness of a game. Those are the really important game qualities to infer on.

There's a bigger difference between mw2 and mw3 than bc 2 and bf3. Mw3 has a new survival mode, weapon proficiencies, point streak system and game types. Bf3 only has better graphics, jets and dedicated servers + the servers crash all the fucking time. P.s I play bf3 on pc so I'm getting the best possible experience
@XboxUnstopable the survival is basically zombies with humans in it. the point streak system is basically kill streaks but kills are replaced with points... yeah there are new game types but the gameplay is basically the same...run, gun gun gun, call in killstreak, run, gun, call in other KS die. Repeat...BF3 has changed a lot since BC2 it is much more faster, the classes have been changed a lot, all new vehicles,. spotting tweaked, squads tweaked, Co Op missions. there are much more
@biohunta There is a big flaw in your statement. Yes people overexaggerate and we all know its exactly alike. But the criticism is not just based on what it looks like in trailers. Other games look alike but do not get compared to an expansion pack like mw3. The reason is because along with looks, gunplay is very similar if not the same and the engine itself has barely changed. This does not warrant a whole number iteration and is not as different transition as any other cod.

are you dumb. the rush game mode wasn't introduces till bad company and 2142 used the Refractor 2 engine. how the hell was frostbite a bad engine? it was a original engine that dice made that had the best graphics and sound in the industry, and it included destructible environments. the MW engine was just a mod of the ids engine and introduced nothing. so i assume you dont know what your talking about

I'm GLAD its going to be so similar to Modern Warfare 2. Its my favourite Call of Duty so far. Every game has its flaws but its so enjoyable. The engine is good too, just because its old doesn't mean its bad. Its smooth and responsive, which I like.
Graphically and visually yes, it looks the same, but to say that makes it like a DLC is just idiotic. Can't wait to play it :)

@ToeKnee1512 Kinda yeah because its not just multiplayer, theres single player and the new survival and spec ops. Its a sequel to a very popular, very successful game. If MW3 was just multiplayer i wouldnt buy it.
Also they DO come out every 2 years by each developer (Infinity Ward this year, Treyarch last year etc), both of which design their game completely differently, I just happen to prefer how Infinity Ward do theirs. Its likely I won't be buying next years CoD by Treyarch for that reason.

OK, ive bought every single CoD. My first one for my PS3 was MW2, i wen back and bought the old ones, even pre-ordered Black Ops. The first two were pretty good. Had some flaws but didnt affect the game that much. MW2 and BO are just complete shit. They are more broke the the economy. I bought BFBC2 the same year as BO. Loved it. So balanced and FUN. So when MW3 was announced, i did my research. Its literally MW2 without OMA, DC, and Commando. Such improvement. So its still basically shit.
It really comes down to how the new game is implemented. Assassin's Creed, Batman, Uncharted, Mass Effect and Dark Souls all were/had sequels that improved on the originals or implemented changes that made the gameplay better. Whether it was controls, doing away with stupid stuff (Mako) or changing the style (linear to open world). But ultimately, it's subjective opinion and if you feel MW3 is too similar and not worth money, then don't buy it. Boom, simple.

CoD games have looked exactly the same since CoD4..no upgrades to the graphics at all...and no game engine has been so groundbreaking that it can go un-upgraded for 4/5 years. At this point CoD just counts on brand recognition and brand loyalty to move their games. I'm not a fanboy either way, I have BF3 and I'll get MW3 eventually but i'm just burnt out on and not impressed by CoD anymore at this point.....flame on kids

Gears of War , 2, and 3 look alike with improvements along the way, The Uncharted series looks somewhat alike but you can tell obvious improvements, Fallout 3/NV look alike but there are some differences, Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 look alike with some improvements along the way (If your on a console you may not notice, because console), Fallout 3/NV look alike with improvements along the way, etc. etc.
Do you know how many games sequels/prequels look alike? A LOT.
Why are people complaining about MW3 looking like MW2? I mean what could they improve except the graphics? It's CoD, it is going to stay the same like pretty much forever. If you got bored of it, just go play some Halo, Battlefield, Killzone or Crysis, whatever you want to play. It's like complaining about chess being boring. Then why would you play it in the first place?

Mw3 I think is going to last way longer than need, because of all the new features that mw3 provide such as leveling up your gun so it's a lot if combinations that you put together to make a gun much better

MW3 same a MW2? Try BF3 same as every other BF, when was the last time they even released a new game mode? I think i've been playing rush and conquest since freakin BF: vietnam! Christ allmighty, who cares if it has frostbite 2, frostbite 1 was HORRID absolutely terrible with 2142. Why would people think the new engine is any more superior? MW3 uses an engine that WORKS and has been working for years, updating it makes it better, not remaking it.

are you dumb. the rush game mode wasn't introduces till bad company and 2142 used the Refractor 2 engine. how the hell was frostbite a bad engine? it was a original engine that dice made that had the best graphics and sound in the industry, and it included destructible environments. the MW engine was just a mod of the ids engine and introduced nothing. so i assume you dont know what your talking about

@993username ok so BF now has 3 game modes, 2 of which are from the stone age. Frostbite had the review ratings for battlefield games and 2142 had so many bugs the game almost went dead before the first expansion, oh which didn't have destructible buildings. Sorry you had to hear the truth.

I don't like the way IW's trying to balance the game. They're adding more and more perks and equipment. They need to simplify. If they could replicate CoD4's gameplay with MW2's graphics, some new guns, and some more maps... It would be golden

I'm GLAD its going to be so similar to Modern Warfare 2. Its my favourite Call of Duty so far. Every game has its flaws but its so enjoyable. The engine is good too, just because its old doesn't mean its bad. Its smooth and responsive, which I like.
Graphically and visually yes, it looks the same, but to say that makes it like a DLC is just idiotic. Can't wait to play it :)

@ToeKnee1512 Kinda yeah because its not just multiplayer, theres single player and the new survival and spec ops. Its a sequel to a very popular, very successful game. If MW3 was just multiplayer i wouldnt buy it.
Also they DO come out every 2 years by each developer (Infinity Ward this year, Treyarch last year etc), both of which design their game completely differently, I just happen to prefer how Infinity Ward do theirs. Its likely I won't be buying next years CoD by Treyarch for that reason.

OK, ive bought every single CoD. My first one for my PS3 was MW2, i wen back and bought the old ones, even pre-ordered Black Ops. The first two were pretty good. Had some flaws but didnt affect the game that much. MW2 and BO are just complete shit. They are more broke the the economy. I bought BFBC2 the same year as BO. Loved it. So balanced and FUN. So when MW3 was announced, i did my research. Its literally MW2 without OMA, DC, and Commando. Such improvement. So its still basically shit.

It really comes down to how the new game is implemented. Assassin's Creed, Batman, Uncharted, Mass Effect and Dark Souls all were/had sequels that improved on the originals or implemented changes that made the gameplay better. Whether it was controls, doing away with stupid stuff (Mako) or changing the style (linear to open world). But ultimately, it's subjective opinion and if you feel MW3 is too similar and not worth money, then don't buy it. Boom, simple.

CoD games have looked exactly the same since CoD4..no upgrades to the graphics at all...and no game engine has been so groundbreaking that it can go un-upgraded for 4/5 years. At this point CoD just counts on brand recognition and brand loyalty to move their games. I'm not a fanboy either way, I have BF3 and I'll get MW3 eventually but i'm just burnt out on and not impressed by CoD anymore at this point.....flame on kids

Gears of War , 2, and 3 look alike with improvements along the way, The Uncharted series looks somewhat alike but you can tell obvious improvements, Fallout 3/NV look alike but there are some differences, Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 look alike with some improvements along the way (If your on a console you may not notice, because console), Fallout 3/NV look alike with improvements along the way, etc. etc.
Do you know how many games sequels/prequels look alike? A LOT.
