  • I don't get why everyone hates the Phantom. He's a good person, he's just misunderstood by everybody. If I was a girl, I'd feel bad for Phantom and I'd be glad to stay in the sewer system (if you will) with him. Raoul's just fucking retarded in my opinion, and during the whole time, it seemed like he didn't give a shit about Christine until the part where she played main role and Phantom has basically liked her since she got to the orphanage/Theatre.

  • 2:40 touches where i live

  • when I'm feeling angry, i watch this and i can find peace in my heart. thing you Lloyd for giving us this

  • Aww Phantom... no ): </3

  • As much as I sympathize for the Phantom for his plight (no love growing up, treated like a freak all his life, forced to live underground when he killed the man who tortured/abused him-society made him the monster he was), don't forget: he was emotionally manipulative, mentally unstable AND he murdered people.

  • @SamuraiGirl02 exactly. I think he's an incredibly well-crafted character. He has been psychologically wired to kill and therefore there is no scientific guarantee that he won't ever hurt Christine; one cannot deny science (psychology). Furthermore his will to possess Christine overpowers his actual love for her. Judging by the comments, most of the people here are teenage girls with raging hormones, so it was nice to read your comment.

  • @kohakuspirit he did kill people but only one was realy bad one was to save his life so it was self devecn and on was an atsiden the last one he was trying to knock him and when the chandler droped thats what realy killed him so :p

  • @1969wrestling Uh...what? No, the Phantom did not kill those people from self-defense. He killed Joseph Buquet to make a point, and that was it. Joseph Buquet might have been a bad man, but that does NOT justify murder. And then the Phantom killed Piangi simply because Piangi was in his way. And if we're going by Leroux, he's killed probably dozens of other people simply because he wanted to. He's psychotic. I love him as much as anyone else, but Christine made the right choice. He's crazy.

  • @MissAliGrace Joseph Buquet looked at little girls change and i did reached on the piangi death and tells you read the phantom of mannahtan learn and the frist guy it was self defence he was going to kill him it was kill him or die i would have killed him to and christane did make the right choice if she picked him there would have not been the awesome seirs the phoenix of the opera tell you more about the seris if you want

  • @1969wrestling Is English not your first language? Because I'm having a really hard time understanding you. But first off, NO. In the ORIGINAL book, Buquet did nothing wrong. He was nothing but an old guy who worked at the opera. The Phantom killed him for NO reason. But even if Buquet looked at girls, he should be in prison. That does NOT justify murder. And if we're taking Phantom of Manhattan (vomit) as canon, I guess we can say that the Phantom raped Christine and wore clown suits. Wow! Joy!

  • @MissAliGrace english is my first language im just realy bad at spelling an i was rushing so it was messy

  • raouls not even hot lol wtf

  • I belive that Meg would have been a better lover for him.

  • phantom ftw!

  • pitty for the phantom

  • Poor Phantom... I wonder what happens to him.

    Whatever, Christine's loss. Raoul's a jerk.

  • haha if I was Raoul, screaming and chained to some gate and shit, I would have seriously went "WTF!? What's going on!?" when Christine suddenly went over to kiss the Phantom.

  • agree if you think the phantom look like tooth face off batman

  • haha i would stay with him he's sooo hot!!!!!! damn wtf he's adorable :( i would totally live undergorund with him no matter what!! :D

  • this makes me cry its so sad i would have stayed with the phantom TT^TT

  • Yeah, the phantom seems like a good friend to hang out with.

  • can i have emmy rossum's hair or

  • he sounds more of a baritone when he hits the "SIC" from the music of the night or Am i just a moron xD

  • I WOULD HAVE STAYED WITH THE PHANTOM; AND I KNOW RAUL IS HER LOVE BUT IN MY OPINION, SCREW RAUL. PHANTOM IS EPIC. Anyone with me? :D

  • what is the number of the final scene

    can anybody tell me that

    i like to know

(all songs in this movie )

  • @skas002 Track #13

  • When she gave him the ring, I was so upset. She just left him there, all alone with his despair. Poor man. I'd gladly stay underground with Phantom :D Raoul's not even cute -____-

  • @VvLunaTonevV The worst part is that you can quite clearly tell by the look on his face that she thinks she is going to stay with him. It is so heart breaking.

  • Phantom needs a hug!

  • if i was her i would of told roul after he kissed me and said to leave i wouls say roul hes losed so much i want let him lose me. t still love you but you can find some one else im the only on that will love him good bye. then i would go up find him say i loved him anf kissed him again then i leaved with him.

  • They have so much chemistry i cant believe they didnt end up together!!

  • *Sigh* ..this scene makes my tummy flip and my heart jump! Such a tender moment between Christine and the phantom. I don't understand why she chose bland, boring Raoul over the phantom- he's so sexy, passionate and seductive! ;) And she kisses him and looks at him like she's really in love with him!

  • Wow, that's one nasty sunburn. -_-

  • My only issue is that Raoul wasn't properly developed. We are only told what we are meant to feel about him and Christine. If he was a bit more interesting, this film would have much better conflict - therefore, much better story and moral dilemma.

  • 3:47 You'd think they could have waited until the phantom was out of ear-shot for them to start singing about their love. Fuckers.

  • who is christine ??????? is it sofia escobar?

  • @johndavid1947 It's Emmy Rossum.

  • Ok so at first when I saw this movie, this scene made me cry. Now when I watch it, all I can think is "Gerry, don't get shards of glass in your eye!" But the musical still moves me. Beautiful <3

  • i hate to ruin the romantic atmosphere, but that is NOT a deformed face.

so Gerard, but Ramin's my phantom, with his more deformed face...

    ...

okay, im weird... for me, the more deformed, the more beautiful... ive got something wrong with me... 0.0

    help?

  • @HappyWeirdo3 Maybe you're normal.

  • Comment removed

  • actually he isnt that much older than christine

  • He's looks so sad and like a little boy when hes singing to the monkey. When he says I love you it breaks my heart - how could anyone with a heart walk away from him? Id hug him for a long time, and kiss all over his face...then we'd run away together to a place where no one could ever hurt him, and I'd show my love for him every second to make up for all the years he hasnt known love.

  • titanic's got nothing on this....(sniff)

  • i would have told him to let raoul go and that i would never leave i would stay right there with him

i would not be able to leave him he will never be the angel of hell to me always the angel of music and when he sings masquarade he looks so helpless and i wish he said he said i loved u to me

  • if i kissed him i would have huged him for s long time after words

  • Erik, you need a hug...A very long hug!! :'(

  • I would stay with the Phantom for the rest of my life.

  • Dear Phangirls, please stop behaving like twihards. also, if you hear about a serial killer on the news, does your heart immediately go out to them? no? then stop worshipping the phantom. No disrespect intended, but beware of hypocrisy.

  • @happilyinsane8 Dear person, THE PHANTOM ROCKS!!! BTW, it's just a movie

  • and then love never dies comes along and ruins everything.

  • ike this if your love the phantom and think christien is a idot and spouller shes pergant and its not rouls child so :)

  • He was happy enough to let her go only with a kiss!!He really loved her with his heart....His soul!Even if he never take love and he lived in shadows he really loved Christine!!

  • this part always makes me sad

the phantoms my fav character in the whole movie

hes the best and then his heart gets broken

id take the phantom any day before Raoul

Poor phantom u can do better

  • Phantom: Take him. Forget me. Forget all of this!

    Christine: Oh, I will.

  • is that it? thats the end? nooooooooo! I want more.

  • @roxannabanana21 read the book the phantom of mannhon it tell you what happens 10 years after this its realy good and a one point its from the phantoms point of view its cool and if you like the phantom you might like the ending if its what i heard it is.

  • Poor man, i just want to give him a hug!

  • @missashes101 me too

  • I just couldn't stop crying. This is just amazing. I think he looks a little vulnerable and childlike when he's listening to the monkey music box

  • I cried for real when I saw this on the big screen. Favorite scene in the whole movie!

  • For peeps who see this the first time you feel so sad and fell like you hearts been torn to shreds this andrew lloyds Webber's best work yet the music makes feel what he feel and in a way it if hurts you feelings. This effects you for the rest of your life. This if my favourite ALW musical yet besides CATS.

  • By the way this moment is a good illustration fof how unexpected behaviour can shock and stop a maniac. When she all of a sudden kissed him passionately it was a surprise for him as he thought she would resist, she mixed up the roles so PO gave up his sinister plans. I read about real cases like this.

  • Yes Christine, that first kiss was obviously so good, you had to go back for seconds...

I'm going to and cry now. I will be back to watch this again, then go and cry again, then come back. Repeat.

  • @Lotto15719 agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awwwww tearing up watching him cry

  • Im not seeing... what was "wrong" with his face (the mask)

  • Comment removed

  • honestly this is the best Phantom of the operah movie ever!

  • i agree with you CatMuse16

  • I started to cry :,)

  • ~dies of goosebumps overload/joygasm*

  • this is totally my favorite movie

  • @ImmaGotenLover its in my top 10

  • The Phantom was obsessive and dark and twisted and frightening... why would Christine choose him? I mean, I know it wasn't his fault - he had a tortured childhood. But still, Raoul was so good to her and didn't live in secret underground - he was her soul mate.

  • Uh, whatever your loss. I'd live underground with the phantom anyday. ;)

  • @Lexster918 THIS Phantom, heck yes.

  • i love this movie!!!!!!!! can any one post the whole thing? or even the flashbacks to the Pantoms past? plz!!!!

  • I always cry when i see this.

  • ~not quite perished my lady love although at times i wish I had[plays organ]

  • 42 years of bad luck

  • @prepsloveme that's what i thought first time i saw the movie :O

  • @prepsloveme 21

  • Omg i love this movie so much, this part is so sad.

I cant watch this movie without getting crying or getting teary eyed it is so sad but romantic

  • This is true romanticism...

  • Never fails to make me cry )':

  • FUCK YEAH!! We get to see the ugly side of the face.

  • when he sings to the monkey... gets me every time )':

  • 2:08 - 2:56 = saddest moment in the entire movie.

  • Poor Phantom... 42 more years of bad luck. =(

  • 0:29 - 1:00 is pure bliss musically. As well as 2:08 - 2:38. Beautiful

  • The phantom leaves his mask. The music of the night may be over- but who's to say the music is? He's starting a new life...

  • every time i hear him sing the words, "you alone can make my song take fly, it's over now the music of the night" and then breaks the mirrors i cry!!

  • No wonder she chose Raoul, he was hung...

  • @PoshBenjamin i see what you did there

  • does anyone else think by the look on his face when christine comes back to give him the ring..he might have thought she was coming back to him...?????

  • Time to watch Beauty and the Beast to feel better..

  • @TheDrunkCat Haha!!

  • I was thinking the whole time, 'That bitch! I would totally have chosen gerry. i mean phantom! lol' xxxx

  • the phantom in this movie is the guy in 300 who kicks the gy into the pit

  • Watching this makes me feel like my heart was ripped out of my chest. =(

The poor poor man. If I were Christine I would tell Phantom that I loved him and that he will always have a place in my heart. Then I would kiss him and hug him tightly for a really long time. I would tell the angry mob to forgive him for all that he has done.

  • Comment removed

  • @CatMuse16 i just imagined... - don't punish Eric plzzz.. - ok, Eric. we forgive you as you have killed Joseph Buquet, no one has ever loved this drinking bastard... and this pitiful aristocrate Raoul... kill him right now! we hate noble men and we hate the poor! we want blood! grrrrrr

  • Its funny how Raoul is watching this... what is he thinking...

  • omg actually i can never stop crying during this movie and this part ESPECIALLY and when he crys with the monkey...omg. whole tissue box used up. no joke.

  • its so touching the detail is amazing! i wish it was a happy ending. then again the people always end up dieing. Go PHANTOM! if a character manages to make ME cry then it must be pretty Good

  • NO NO NO NO NOOOOO! THE PHANTOM IS THE VILLAIN! IF YOU READ THE BOOK OR SAW THE REAL PLAY! YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND! WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE THE VILLAIN!? STUPID SEX APPEAL! WHO EVER WROTE FOR CHRISTINE IN THIS MOVIE MADE HER NOT SCARED ENOUGH OF THE PHANTOM! D:< RAAAAGE

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNightcloudHATER This is Webber's take on it. Keep in mind, when the movie was being made Webber was there approving everything. If this isn't how he wanted his version of the story to go, it wouldn't be this way. It's not sex appeal. It's how it was meant to be.

  • where can I find that exact monkey with the exact dress?

  • When he smashes the mirrors.... that's the best emotional scene of the movie.

  • That's all the Phantom wanted in the world. Compassion.

  • 4:28-5:15 are the most epic and dramatic parts ever made in a movie

  • This is freakin awesome this is how musicals are supoosed to be story wise, epic adventure, and yet good meaning, with some tragedy

  • WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO START SINGING WITH RAOUL AND RUB IT IN ERIKS FACE?!

  • @operagirl121 why do people call him Erik he has no name hes just...The Phantom

  • @robirdsfilmmaker In the book, The Phantom's name is Erik :)

  • GERARD ROCKS !!

  • I can relate to the Phantom big time... :'(

  • @windcrest009 you had a disease that ate away half your face including your nose, you are a brilliant composer and had a love affair with a 14 year old girl when you were 40 and have killed several people? lol i'm just messing around...

  • @mihaeltomasovic no rather I loved someone and pulled them out of the depths of their depression and healed their wounds from a previous relationship where they were cheated on,showed them what love really is but was left behind for someone else. Only thing is the gender slots are different. I'm a woman and my ex is a dude (though sometimes how he acts i wonder if he's not a girl), I don't kill people though I do have problems with blood vessels in my face and it only causes a bluish mark on me

  • I never saw the movie but when I first saw it I cried :(

  • I want to hug him and tell him not alone! I feel so sorry for him. He only wanted Christine to love her back. Instead she got hooked up with that girly man Raoul. I hate her! PHANTOM, YOU RULE!!!!

  • Masquerade being played from that musical box is some of the happiest sounding music I've ever heard.

  • Shes a bitch.

  • Someone loved me that way when I was her age and I treated him in the exact same way...Do I regret it now? Yes I do. He's a retired professor from a famous University and very rich. I was a young fool...

  • It makes me cry every time I watch this. I can bet the phantom commits suicide after christine leaves. It is just sad to think about.

  • @XxpurplehorsefreakxX No he did not commit suicide. In the end you can see that he left a red rose with a black silk ribbon and the ring at her grave.

  • @theandroidgirl yes he actually is supposed to outlive all of them... but in the book he did die in the theatre i believe which is a little confusing as this is based on the broadway adaptation, the best one in my opinion by Andrew Lloyd Webber written FOR Sarah Brightman... I mean there are actually separate endings for the book, the broadway adaptation, and the film....

  • here's a good question: how come phantom of the opera fans feel more sadness and sympathy toward the phantom in this movie than any other movie or story of phantom of the opera? maybe because...........GERARD BUTLER IS THE FUCKING PHANTOM!!!

  • SO MUCH SYMBOLISM IN THIS MOVIE...AHHHHH I LOVE IT

  • I dont think raoul is sexy at all... the phantom is GORGEOUS! *sighs*

  • @Jessthegurl1192 And now he's single *wink wink*

  • He went Sparta on that mirror!

  • Im Like Freaking Obsessed With Any ting That Involves Phantom

  • the phantom even without his mask looks normal

  • Put it this way; if Christine chose the Phantom... what could we cry over, eh? I like that she chooses Raoul. Yes, she ripped out the Phantom's heart, put it on a sliver plate and served it to Raoul, but it just wouldn't be the same...

  • @MusicalLuver2930 fuhk Raoul he cna go get old somewhere else go phantom ur beautiful

  • @MusicalLuver2930 But also note... Christine did choose the phantom, be it to save raoul but she still chose the phantom, the twist is that he loves her so much he doesnt choose her, he proves he really does love her by letting her go. Regardless Christine did choose the phantom.

  • @MusicalLuver2930 Yes, I agree, but I'd stay with the Phantom....LOL!

  • this scene in the movie was one of the most emotional moments of my life. I seriously walked away from the theatre a changed man... a fabulously homosexual man

  • @littlelottesangel Yeah, wasn't it fabulou --- I mean awesome! (<3NPH)

  • Why can't movies and plays be like THIS again, anymore!? The emotion, the music, the HEART! This was back when plays-turned-movies could still move you as much as they did (or even more so) than when they were plays! Why can't we have genius like this anymore!?

  • @Traban25 Dude. It's from 2004. Stupid to lament a lost generation when it's the same bloody generation.

  • Phantom of the Opera.... The ORIGINAL Twilight!!!!! It's a love triangle between an indecisive, whinny Christie, a bland, emotionless Raoul, and a smoking hot, singing, mask wearing Erik

And of course she goes with the boring, overly dressed Raoul, instead of Erik, who treated her like a goddess, protected her in the opera house all those years, and gave her the gift of song.... Oh well, i love this movie!!! I <3 Erik!!!

  • @MagentaCartherWrites Don't EVER compare Erik to Edward.

One, Erik has a personality. Two, if you've ever read the novel, Erik is a hideous monster, not an only-somewhat-creepy-looking guy in a mask. Three, Gaston Leroux and Susan Kay could actually write, and PTO has a plot, and heart... everything that the Twilight franchise lacks.

There's no comparison. Twi-hards can flame all they want, but never, ever put my Erik in the same sentence as that pansy "vampire" Cullen.

  • @ImmortalObscurity

Did i ever even mention Edward..... I HATE TWILIGHT!!!!! I was just saying that the story line of the two stories are the same.... But i COMPLETELY agree with you.... there is no comparison!!! Phantom Forever <3

  • @MagentaCartherWrites Oh, good to know. :)

Something worth noting, though- that kind of behaviour was acceptable for (and expected from) women in Leroux's time (late 18th/mid-19th century). Things have obviously changed, hence why PTO gets away with this, while Twilight sets back feminism- and I would also like to add that Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a damn.

  • I do feel so sorry for the Phantom! He is not all that bad but he is very misunderstood man!

  • i can't stand raoul or however u spell his name

  • And he's still damn BEAUTIFUL without his mask!

  • I cried so much during this scene that one of my contacts popped out.

And he's singing Masquerade, and it's TRUE for him, he has to hide his face. And sitting in front of the monkey... she kissed him, and then he's crying and she gives him the ring, goes off singing with Raoul and leaves him... Poor Phantom...

    I'm starting to cry again.

  • @TheSulferzombie i bawled my eyes out so sad... i hope they make the movie"love never dies" the sequal or sumthing to this because i gotta know more i LOVE this movie and erik<3!!!

  • Okay... I like MC a lot better as the Phantom.... I NEED TO SEE THE LIVE STAGE VERSION, DAMNIT!

  • Christine is the sort of person that makes you want to SLAP her repeatedly. Throughout the entire film she was silly and down right ungrateful! The phantom stood by her all those years, made her a star and showed her what true love really meant. And yes, maybe he was obsessive, but who isn't when they're in love? Christine is a dumb asshole who will never find happiness because one day she will look back and realize that she broke the heart of the only person who truly loved her.

  • Oh no... I ran out of tissues...

  • Choices:

    1) Raoul- Pretty boy, slave of fashion, loves attention etc. etc. etc.

    2) Erik/Phantom- Scared, phsycopathic, extremely handsome, caring, daring, screw extremely handsome ... he's HOT!!!

    Hmmm... OBVIOUS!!!!!! ERIK!!! (duh)

  • I hates it when she juss comes back to hurt him more and gives him the wedding ring back SERIOUSLY!!!!! my god i would have forgotten the booger and flicked it and stayed with the phantom ^_^

  • This is just... beautiful <3

  • the phantom proves its not about whats outside but whats inside

  • Screw what's his face. GO FOR THE FREAKIN PHANTOM!!!!!
