WOW...great kid...plus they are like vampire :) they only wan cold....but for me i need cold weather too cannot stand hot... :) but i do not have tis genetic...
How ancient is this gene? I wonder if there's a creature in our evolutionary past that did not need to bother with keeping it's temperature low? A creature that lived in a very hot environment for instance? Has there been any studies into whether this gene is really defective or just simply no longer needed?
As remote as it seems, it is possible for a father to pass a defective gene to his son in this disorder, but his son would have to be XXY and he'd had to have got his defective gene on the X from his dad, that was not inactivated... obviously. That's why women are carriers because one of their X's is turned off randomly. I do not know if XXY males are recipients of other X linked mutations. In theory it's possible but in practice it might not be.
Wow. I have HED too. I'm from Oklahoma, USA. I am 19 years old, and let me tell you... that kid looks JUST LIKE I did at that age! Good to see him involved in sports and going on about his life. I've heard of some who stay inside all the time out of self-pity. I played basketball all my life (inside as well as outdoors)... 100+ degrees Fahrenheit sometimes. You just have to know when you've had enough. You've got to take care of yourself and know your limits.Glad to see this video.
@sd11hhs Then we can shake hands, because Max looks also just like me at that age! I'm now 21 and i live in Holland. Even as Max i'm playing my whole life football :) I did not meet anayone with HED so it's very confrontational for me to see this. Beatifull.
@Roscovitsch Awesome. I played a little soccer as well when I was younger, as well as American football. I view my condition as motivation; a reason to prove that I can do anything despite what some might call a "disadvantage."
@sd11hhs Yes, the condition is certainly a motivator. But not only in sports for me. With all the things in my life i'm proving (to others) that i am 'normal' and i'm doing the things that everybody else (normal persons) do. To achieve this 'normal' lifestyle i overworked myself a bit. I feel insecure, the outside world don't see this but only my 'positive' image and not how i feel inside. At the moment i'm working on myself :)
Thank you for posting this video. My two year old son has HED and one of my concerns is whether he will be able to play sports when he is older. It is great to see Max playing football and enjoying it so much. This video is really inspirational and shows he can live a normal life (with a little help).
the persons who had HED in uk are very lucky because there were many organizations helping them. and they treat special.and added to that mostly of the people there are educated. unlike here in philippines sometimes they looked at the person who had HED like men from outer space and i feel sad for that.
i had a son with max's condition and i shown him the video.he was happy coz at least he seen similar to him.i had an uncle, brother they are both past away.and now i had two more nephews with that condition and there are new HED condition in my family my niece new born son.you are too lucky because your climate in uk are cold compare to philippines.they cannot stay outside and play for for too long hours because of the warm weather here.
Your video makes me smile! What a beautiful, inspiring boy you are. My daughter is turning 6 in a few weeks and she has ED. You make me confident that she will be just fine! Thank you young man.
What an amazing boy Max is. My little boy also has HED and when hes a little older i will show him this video. Thanks Max. Think you may have a future on TV or maybe even football!

Can't they get Max some dentures.
Imogen1885 1 month ago
@Imogen1885 I had dentures when I was about 4 years old and HATED them lol. I get by with just 9 teeth. It's what I'm used to. I bet Max is the same.

@sd11hhs Do you have this same disorder? I just thought maybe he would feel better about going out with friends etc.

what a legend.
I've got ED too, and maintaned the same zest for life when I was a kid. Just like Max, I had great parents who encouraged me to achieve me goals.
Wish I had some of those ball skills Max has got though. Could be the first ED player in the EPL I reckon.
