  • this snagging is alot diffrent than how we do it n kentucky.

  • hmm what will we do when we run out of every other species. I guess we will eat Canadians.

  • You can also spearfish them. But you better be ready to eat them!

  • you guys are fuckin retards

  • Old dude needs to shove that hat us his own self righteous ass. God Himself created marijuana, who is this Pharasee to say it's wrong.

  • hate negative comments, its legal, if you have a hook that you can put plankton on, and catch an 80 lb fish, tell me....

  • All these comments about this being "fair" or "sporting" - the bottom line is, if you play by the rules and follow the law, the fish will be just fine. These guys have to pay license fees, and those fees go to stocking more fish and paying the salaries of fishing biologists who study them.

At the same time, snagging can damage the fish, barb or no barb. If you hook it in the eye/fin or wrap it up in the line, that fish can be hurt. Same applies for normal fishing, though.

    Nice fish either way!

  • HOW MANY DIE THE NEXT DAY????

  • I dont agree that snagging isnt sporting like. theres a limit of the what you can catch, they use barbless hooks, with one fish per day it would take a ton of people to wipe out the species, and you cant catch them any other way. go do reasearch before you post uneducated comments like the ones on this video

  • Out of all places, the mouth is probably one of the most devastating places for a fish to get hooked. The fish could swallow the hook, the line could break and the remaining hook would interfere with feeding..

  • There is no skill in this whatsoever !! NOT SPORTING AT ALL. Like shooting deer with a machine gun.

  • camo fail! epic inbreeding!

  • Snagging fish is poor sportsmanship and un-ethical, even if it is legal where your from. You should learn how to fish the proper way.

  • @icefisherman1 Hey icefisherman1, you come show us how to catch a spoonbill with a hook and line, and show us how sporting your are.

  • @icefisherman1 Well said

  • @icefisherman1 try catching one on a lure

  • Why are all these idots wearing Camo???

  • @pies2105 cause your adopted

  • they look like there hunting buck in the middle of a lake.....

  • cruel. stupid. go do that with your child

  • cruel. stupid. go do that with your child

  • Okay, for all those who dont favor the camo wears, I also go out sturgeon fishing with camo wears. WHY? Not because I'm afraid that the fish will see me, idiots, its because of the materials that the camo wears are made of, very good for cold condition. Just think about it and stop the hate on the camo wears.

  • Lol I can not believe you dumb fuck americans actually fish like this. And why are you all wearing camo ? Why dont you learn to fly fish for a descent species. Spoonbills are disgusting.

  • wow! Awesome vid! If you don't mind head over to my channel for some new aquarium videos...If you guys could that would be great! Thanks YouTubers!

  • why r all of u dumb americans wearing camo r u scared the fish might see u and swim away!

  • you stupid yankies should just stop fishing all together i could go on over a page of how dumb u yanks are but ill just leave it at that

  • i thought snagging was illegal

  • why the cammo? =S?

  • nice fishing. we own a cabin on grand lake and when the dam is flooded we go snagging, it ever since ive hooked my first one ive been addicted to it. Dont mind any of these idiots its harder then regular fishing and requires far more work. Keep up the good work! I might have to check your website out

  • fuck you americans cant fish for fucking shit, LIFT AND REEL, LIFT AND REEL LIFT AND REEL

    FUCKING STUPID MAGGOT

  • You might be a redneck if you consider snagging fishing!!!

  • thanks spoonbill never seen a fish like that before , i am originally from Scotland but live and fish in France so your species and types of fishing are very different to what I have tried,

GOOD VIDEO KEEP THEM COMING ;)

  • O.M.G. i'm sorry for you the time of your video is 11:59, 1 sec. and that was 12:00 I'm sorry :(

  • did you see them killing crazy amounts of fish no because the used small barbless hooks not to damage the fish and for your information I live in Canada an snaging is only a problem when idiots like you hit the rive so if you don't no don't try to talk

  • Are they good with hushpuppies

  • @SOLIE6226

    O yea!

  • what an odd looking fish.

  • I prefer grenade fishing... we have several participants in our Association for the Blind but it's best to venture out with just a single boat :)

  • grand lake in northeast oklahoma

  • where do you catch these

  • one ugly frickin fish boys

  • so ifu catch 1 in the gills do u keep it or

  • well you boys can say what you want all day. everyone has there own thoughts on things but i get people come in from all over the united states to come catch these fish. they are running up river to spawn we are catching these fish. you can call us rednecks all you want but i guarantee we put more fish in the boat each year than any of you boys flapping lips!!!

  • @MrSpoonbillz im with u theres nothen better then snaggen into one of those 70 or80 pounders its a thrill ya never forget keep up good work love video,

  • i have a question for you fishermen.I want a reel that, if i look at it side on, bobs in and out as i turn the handle. The faster i turn the faster it bobs etc.I dont know the correct terrm for this action/reel.Any suggestions???

  • @bignaughtydog That's called a spinning reel

  • Snagging is the most redneck sport ever. Why would anyone want to drive around draggin trebble hooks until you hook something? "Look Darlin! We got us anuther spoonbilley. Yaaaaaahh!!!" Good lord. Go off yourself already...

  • how the hell are they catchin them are they trollin i dont see them snaggin can someoen explain this please

  • wow i never seen a spoonbill or ever heard of em, but damn, nice catch =D

  • i thought spoonbiil started runnin around march

  • snagging is not fishing if you yanks knew how to fish maybe you might have salmon left insteed of coming to canada to poach all of ours. you will slowy kill off every species you've got then what...?

  • @Tightlineeasy , you might also check out some geography, we dont have salmon in the midwest.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tightlineeasy , haha if we ever had salmon at all, then we don't anymore because of agriculture runoff.

You comment was pretty dumb, considering that our agriculture is what feeds your country.

  • @Tightlineeasy man ur a loser arent u ? im pretty sure our salmon in united states can b found in the great lakes, alaska and most of our northern lakes. If u think this type of fishing is wrong let me c u snag a 105 lb spoony by the tail and pull it in. I bet ur ass would b in the river and im fucking 16 u hicks

  • @Tightlineeasy

It DOESN'T matter HOW a fish was taken-what MATTERS is there is sufficient escapement and suitable spawning conditions for them to perpetuate the species, how, what, and who catches them has NOTHING to do with it. The guy who prides himself in ''catch and release'' can kill many more fish than the guy who flosses his two fish and goes home-who's the more ''ethical'' angler?

The reason for the lack of salmon in the NW has to do with habitat destruction and overfishing.

  • nice job maybe ill be that lucky this year on the james.not sure about exceptions to them biting but i have caught two of them while crappie fishing before. i dont know why they would bite at a crappie tube

  • great video guys. totally awesome and professional.

    i wanna play too!

  • dare acts.

  • Its not really fishing is it. I catch all my fish fairly on bait not foul hooking.

  • FYI......These fish only feed on plankton. There is no other way to catch them. Ya might want to do a little research before you belittle anyone......Also its a lot harder to locate and catch these fish than it is to draw a fish to a bait and have them bite it.

  • yes i think u are right it hard to detect thease fish by air there bodys are built in such a way thay could only be detected by eye contact

  • well for one thing it was about 25 degrees that day!! pretty dang cold to be wearing shorts and flip fops dont you think? i had the warmest clothes i had which happened to be camo. i'd like to see you boys come down and attempt to catch one of these on bait!! you guys are the ones that are fools for your posts. spoonbillking is right you need to do a little research before you bark out on something you have no idea what your talking about!!

  • Dragging treble hooks round till you spear a dormant fish isn't sport. Don't get me wrong I am a fisherman and enjoy my sport and eat my catch but in the UK we have such a thing as animal rights campaigners and doing this it gives our great sport a bad name.

  • @SpoonbillKing maybe they only eat plankton for a reason.. not for ppl to snagg them.. not really fishing y dont you just go after other catfish?

  • @SpoonbillKing if you catch one on bate its juz they get caught up in your line i caught one on chicken liver but im sure he juz ran into the line n i jerked n hooked him in the side of the mouth

  • @SpoonbillKing watch how people in thailand are catching their fish which also feed only with plancton and they catch it with the hook INSIDE their mouths, not snagging

  • I agree dave, but those crazy yanks see fishing as hunting, that probably why there dressed like world war 3 is about to start even though there fishing for plankton eaters, god help us!

  • Cheers mate !

  • @davidcook33

Snagging these fish is legal and much harder work than you falling asleep while waiting on a fish to bite a baited hook. Spoonbills and Asian carp are filter feeders, therefore have no stomach, and it is physically impossible for them to take any kind of bait as they don't eat in the normal way.

The end result is the same either way - a hooked fish - so I don't understand why you are feeling so morally superior. You should be embarrassed by your ignorant comment.

  • ive never seen a fish like that before cool vid

  • Wow bazaar ! I have never even seen one before . I would have thought that to be a salt water fish . Cool

  • salt water fish, I thinks the water is salty by def.

  • ive fished with this guy. he knows his stuff!!!
