majida cant b compared with lara..lara is much much better she is a goddess ad majida needs cant reach the vocals that lara reach so easily ..but not a bad try from majida even though she must try harder to reach the level of lara..peace
I am learning arabic and I understand no matter how much you translate the weight of the meaning; in arabic can never be shifted to translations (thats why I am learning Arabic) it's either close or almost but can never be the same. It's a commendable work you had done! =D Thanks for sharing. Love it!
I love(d) you ya man, ya habibi. For me you were whole world, and I was happy to live it in your arms for a night. You will remain living in my heart...What this life is all about?
Ahlan! This is a great song. I would like the lyrics in arabic, but with the latin fonts. I would like to learn it for a very special person. Alf choukra!

Hitting high notes is not the measurement of good singer, it is the way you impress with full of emotion in every words of the song. But if you insist hitting high notes, Charice is uncoparable!God bless to all!
This song touches the heart especially when the language itself (ie. arabic) is so rich and beautiful. I enjoyed watchin Majida singing this song with full expression n emotion..Outstanding! Thanks Vinepress..its awesome..truly is :-)
Lady Majida el Roumi is a diva in her own right. She has a soprano operatic voice and has been singing since the late 60s. Here she is singing her own interpretation of Adagio. She wasn't trying to be Lara Fabian.
@noel9861 I agree that Lara Fabian has a stronger voice BUT she can never ever sing like Majida. Majida's voice is pretty, has enough power to pull off a ballad, and has a high enough range to sing Opera properly. While Lara Fabian is just a shadow of Celine Dion. As for Charice, when did she sing this song?
@noel9861 As a musician I've heard this song a bazillion times... while Lara's version is beautiful and skillful, nothing compares to the passionate manner in which Majida el Roumi's voice 'cries' the sentiment of this piece. Nothing can stand to the beautiful drama of Arabic lyrics.
It is about the whole "package", Artist, Song, Interpretation, Voice ...etc.
Majida's interpretation impressed me most. Lara's, much much less. Also, the Arab text translated in English has a deeper sense. Majida is unique! She is the top. Best Adagio ever.
I agree they aren't the best they can be, but it is for those who don't know arabic. If you do, they shouldn't affect you. If you have a better translation please send it to me so that I may fix mine.
@vinepress No, the translation is very good.. I applaud you on that.. I've seen so many translations for this song.. and as I know both english and arabic very weel, this is the best translation that captured the true meaning
@vinepress No, the translation is very good.. I applaud you on that.. I've seen so many translations for this song.. and as I know both english and arabic very well, this is the best translation that captured the true meaning
I think the subtitles are excellent--and I speak Arabic! I love seeing the translation as some things simply don't transfer well---but you did a great job with this and as a result I was able to share my favorite Majida song with non-Arabic speaking friends. Great job...
By far the best Adagio ever. Majida Al Roumy delievered the wormest voice and the deepest sensibility necessary for this song. Thanks for subtitels which let us understand the poem.
@laurenceata transforming??? no offense but Majida is way prettier than Lara Fabian even at this age ( Lara is pretty as well), so I am sure she doesn't need to look like anyone.
nice old music of italian compositor Albioni! nice and very sad words of song they touch my soul and my heart! Very beauterfull singer Majida! and as a usually Chechenia with you Majida!

OMG ! no where near Lara Fabian's version. not enough pipes to to hit the high notes. good singer, but many levels below Lara or even Charice.

You do realize that she's in her 50s here, right?
She's a soprano, she can hit much higher than that, but it's a very long live concert and most of her songs are very demanding vocally.

it's not about how good and accurate it is, it's just that i think the meaning sounds so lame when translated to other languages.
Thanks for the video anyway.

@amersheeny the song was not translated :) Majida re-created totally different lyrics; she only kept the melody

Can any one tell me if this song is innappropriate? I want to sing something incredibly romantic and will show off my vocal range! He is a musician and will enjoy a powerful performance.
Any advice is much appreciated :)
