  • thumbs up from t.v or kids react

  • Go daddy is dead... they support SOPA

  • OMG! I'm so amped about buying chlorox right now!

  • VW dark side

  • VW darkside

  • try searching for VW darkside

  • try searching for VW darkside

  • 20.000$ for a passat OMFG cheapz!!!! God i hate being Danish!

  • @Dracullia How much would you pay in Denmark?

  • @angelmtza That depends on the engine ofc :P But a base model with a modest 1.4 gasoline engine sedan wud start at 52.000 excluding any type of extras... A normal sized engine sedan (1.8) wud be around 75.000 USD...

  • @Dracullia Wow... in America u can only get the 2.5 L engines haha... !

  • this is funny

  • OMG.......MY FTHER LOOOVVVVVVEEE THIS COMMERCIAL, INFACT, HE WATCHED THE COMMERCIAL AND PLAYED IT OVER AND OVER FOR THE NEX FEW WEEKS!!!(he's a starwars nerd...lmfao)

  • That's not a kid, its a midget...

  • @SniperWalrus Where's my pot of gold!!!??

  • The problem I have noticed with the really funny commercials is that you often remember the commercial but have no idea what product the were peddling.

For example, I enjoyed the "Was Abe Lincoln honest?" ad and the "I has it" ad but I can't remember what it was I am supposed to buy. I also couldn't remember what car it was in this commercial until this video reminded me.

  • Actually there was a news story about the boy. He's supposedly undergoing heart surgery.

  • @yuukisama2001

"Actually there was a news story about the boy. He's supposedly undergoing heart surgery."

...While that may be true, it sounds like the classic urban legend. Often when there is a really popular commercial, some sort of story starts going around that the actor in it died or is dying. Two examples that come to mind are the "Mikey likes it!" kid and the "Cha-Ching" guy dying but there have been several others.

I'd suggest doing some research before repeating it.

  • @jimbrown257 I get what you mean. Now I can't say I believe it, as this was mentioned on the news. But again we are pretty much aware that when something becomes popular there is always the case of exploiting the story for possible ratings. The statement came from the kid himself. Research he did have congenital heart disease. So it's true. You can research it yourself.

  • lol cenk tried to cut in and failed

  • His DAUGHTER. Who says its a boy? I'd dress up as Darth Vader and run around trying to use the force.

  • One of my favorite commercials. better than the eTrade babies!

  • lol. in super popular commercials like this the actors are more popular than the actual product they are trying to sell. Like remember the Old Spice commercial?

  • LIL VADER IS DA MAN HAHAHAHAHA

  • Awwww

    Warm fuzzies!

  • ''Give daddy a hug?''

''I was conceived by the medichlorians, bitch''

  • Who actually lives like that? Well I guess if your rich enough to be Darth Vader.

  • Dress the kid up like Harry Potter and give him a stick and you have my nephew when he was younger. Kept trying to turn everything in the house into cake; used to piss him off to no end that he never could get anything to turn into cake.

  • Sorry you couldn't sell GoDaddy.com

  • That kid is too into the Star Wars program.....no problem taking him out with a light-saber!

  • Remote start is like $50 to put on a car, and it's been around for a long long time. Not new or expensive technology. Mine came with the alarm I put on my car.

  • @Nayr747 no,it was the kid, who started the car with his force

  • Also stop acting like this kid is just the best actor ever. I mean all he had to do was walk and move his hands. This is a Super Bowl commercial, that they payed a large amount of money to put on the air i'm sure they made sure he did everything exactlly right. This concept that he is so talented because he can wear a costume. What about those south american kids who kick soccer balls from to each other from different rooftops, are even kids who work in sweat shops. Can Vader kid do that?

  • @7tmo no, but he can GESTICULATE

  • @7tmo lol, that's not all he had to do. walking and moving hands can express countless emotions and intentions. it's the subtleties of how he walks and moves his hands that people are noticing.

go outside and look at people walking around; you'll start noticing that people all walk differently.

  • @Erilis666 I understand that their is probably many levels to acting. I'm just not impressed that he can do this with probably days of practice, and hired trainers guiding him. I mean I think he did a good job, Im just not so easily impressed, when I know there are kids who can do things alot more difficult, without being paid or trained extensively to do so.

  • I just dont get why this is so popular. I mean I dont even think it was Super Bowl worthy. I guess you have to be a woman, have kids, are be a Star Wars nerd, to actually love it.

  • @7tmo that's a pretty specific demographic they're targeting.

  • That commercial is just adorable. I agree that it is well made.

  • i was expecting it to fly ^_^

  • 1:36 Oh no, you did not just interrupt Cenk! He will RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

  • VW FTW!

  • cenk is the most open minded man in america

  • questions is if there is a midget in that suit or kid

  • god fuck the young turks... they aresomainstream....

  • @kidluna Uhhh....So? Does mainstream instantly equal bad for you no matter what it is?

  • @gamehazard101 Pretty much. Well I guess in an ironic sens I can enjoy some of it.

  • I hate commercials that have nothing to do with the products they're advertising.

Fuck this commercial. I'll never buy this car.

  • @VictimOfBoredom Darth Vader's Tie Fighter was designed by VW and manufactured in Germany- plus the name vader is basically german for father (vater)- so it's kinda related

  • @muetter It still has nothing to do with the actual car they're selling.

  • i dont give a shit its a commercial :|

  • I like it

    I think it is cute

  • that wasnt a kid it was a midget.

  • They should replace the kid with Hitler and replace the Imperial March with the Koniggratzer March ,then it would make sense at least.

  • The 2012 Passat looks like a damn Hyandi- barf!

  • Aren't you suppose to fear Darth Vader since he was a villain? I digress though, I honestly didn't think the commercial was that great but to each his own. It could've been a lot worse lol

  • At the end of the day... I'm not buying a 2012 Volkswagen.

  • i like this ad but that dont make wanna buy the carr WTF ITS CUTE THOUGH

  • Meh.

  • I thought all of the commercials was lame. This commercial was ok but I don't think it's that great.

    Just me :/

  • Gatorade®, Is It In You?

  • Just because I enjoy a commercial, doesn't mean I'm gonna spend 20 grand on a car.

  • @elmirasahar seriously, just cuz a commerical is good, does not in any way make me want to buy their car or any product for that matter....tat said, the commerical was gay anyways,, what was the point?? told nothing about the car

  • The funny part was when the parents thought they turned on the car.

  • @guppyworld540 HAHA!

  • @guppyworld540 ahhahaha you're totally original. =/

  • Let's give it to the kid too. What a great actor. He gets his message of his intense concentration in every attempt at using the force and when it worked, his reaction was priceless. The jump back, then "did you see that?" and the double check...great work kid, great work.

  • @Boomer1949

    It was a midget...(sarcasm)

  • @Boomer1949 exactly! my favorite part of the commercial. havent seen such a well mayed add for years

  • @Boomer1949 I bet it is easy acting without having to do facial expression, but no doubt it was brilliant!

  • I think this is a geat commercial. What an awesome thing for a dad to do for his son. Keeps that magic of childhood and his imagination alive. Kudos to Volkswagon and the people who came up with this ad.

  • A little kid impersonating Dick Cheney... this is wrong :p

  • Ana just gave me wood......

  • @daptv1 Aww, your first one!

  • I thought that was awesome, but the only thing worse than an ad that's boring is an ad that tries to be funny and just is stupid

  • are all superbowl ads meant to be brand new or something?

  • Cenk just shut the fuck up when ana is talking, its getting annoying that you interupt

  • Thats an awesome commercial, all the people who hate it have no soul.

  • This is the best Jedi mind trick I have seen in a long time....

  • The kid was a mime.

I thought everybody hated mimes .

  • I want that car now.

  • yeah, but later I couldn't remember the make of the car.

  • OK ad, the better of them all, but being superbowl ads are mostly garbage and this year's were beyond horrible, it doesn't really say that much. What, remote start is new thing? I've had it on my both my autos for over 10 years. Americans brains are just tenderized by tv, I could of wrote a better ad for every ad that was played SB Sunday. One example is the violent pepsi ads, I would of used the Sean Penn character in Bad Boys 1983, bagfull of pepsi, two bad guys, one big asskicking.

  • It is a bit scary that he's trying to force choke the dog though.

  • Good thing it weren't no audi or else the boy might have been run over.

  • Had to have an ad before a clip about an ad?

  • I think that what the father did was mean. "Hey honey, watch this. *starts car* Look at him! Haha! stupid kid. He thinks magic is real."

  • President Sarah Palin has more POWER than both Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine combined!

  • @ecwaufisxtreme. You do know that Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine are just characters in a movie don't you?

  • @ecwaufisxtreme goddamn thats a lot of power

  • how can someone hate this? The boy should have more respect for doing this ad.

  • That commerial sucked. If anything, it's harder to topple the Richard Simmons commerial.

  • Wow people are amused by stupid things.

    This Commercial Sucked!!!!

  • This feels like an ad with a European sensebility somehow. Loved it.

  • That was my 2nd favourite Super Bowl commercial =3

  • Have you seen the kid who played Darth Vader? He looks like a young Mark Hamill.

  • The Groupon one was way better, that was just a pointless, meaningless cultural reference that nothing to do with anything.

  • Click here if you -like me- can't really see what is sooo special about this commercial.

  • but i loved this one as well :)

  • my favorite ads were the pepsi max ones where the girl throws things at her boyfriend and the one where the couple are on a date and you can hear their thoughts. I also liked the one where Tommy got stuck in a well, a hot air balloon, the belly of a whale, and a volcano

  • That was perfect :)

  • The reason I like that ad so much, is because the dad is the clever.

In all modern commercials the male (father, husband, boyfriend) is an idiot and the female is clever.

Here is a dad that is clever, without making the mother look dumb.

  • Somebody's here need to get a real job!!

  • I remember seeing this and being truly reminded how much of a corporate whore the Star Wars franchise has become. They used the score too. "John Williams must be rolling in his...living room." I said.

  • @chenalos

Fun fact: Those "droid" phones have to pay Lucasfilms to use that name.

  • @17R3W

I thought the droid was a reference to Philip K Dick.

  • @mistacramer

When you watch the commercials it says in the fine print "Driod is a registered trade mark of Lucas Film".

  • @17R3W

    *googles*

    Oh, Jesus Christ.

  • @Xenda I agree the ad is great and I love it, but don't let this go over the necessary dissent. Don't act like a pack. At least we are getting some reminders to minimize the "kumbaya" effect ;p

  • I love how Anna just talked right through Cenk's interruption :D Anna, you should do that more often :)

  • This was probably the best ad during the Superbowl that I have seen this year.

  • A child dressed as someone based on Adolf Hitler, in a commercial for a car company named BY Hitler.

    We've come full circle.

  • @MoPapparani

Excuse me sir, but where did you get this information from?

  • That kid wasn't cute he was evil! He tried to strangle a dog and baby for fuck's sake.

  • @Fangtorn

I took it as him trying to push the baby over. But that's just how I took it.

  • I wish capes were fashionable again .

  • @007feedback were they ever??

  • @TBONE889 A long... long ...time ago i suppose .

  • @007feedback

When were capes ever fashionable?Unless you had superpower or were a villain.

  • @jxsilicon9

    1700's?

  • @007feedback again ? when was that fashionable ??

  • @007feedback wait...they're not?

  • The kid is gay I think. They cut out the part where he tried to move a huge dildo into his butt.

  • @rayfebyron kids 6 years old little young to be gay

  • It's actually a midget playing that kid.

  • i don't get what's so great about this commercial. it really annoyed me that he had every part of the costume EXCEPT the gloves, the easiest part of the costume to get.

  • @Cuddlebunzzzz

    "...except the gloves..."

    Wow. That observation is pathetic.

  • @Cuddlebunzzzz its cuter without gloves

  • @Cuddlebunzzzz it's obviously intentional as the bare hands made it cuter.

  • It was okay the first two times I saw it but give me a break the cute kid thing is over done and this ad is not earth shattering.

  • Aww how cute!

  • Fuck this shit, I hate Apple and their 1984 ad WAS GOOD. This ad sucks.

  • Such a cheesy ad, but I liked it CB

  • cute but overrated

  • I'll give it a pass because it had the Imperial March in, but to be honest I thought it was a pretty poor advert.

  • Star wars & commercialism are 2 dicks in a fat mouth......set your blaster fire on the lame settings.

  • faggotry

  • Does it make you want to buy a Volkswagen? NO

  • I hate this advert because i hate children but even more i hate the parents who think the kids are cute.

  • @flake452 What kind of sad person are you to hate children ?

    They're delicious !

  • @synsei1 Thats great Pope Benedict.

  • You should do more videos about porn.

  • The parents think that the dad started the car...

  • I need to buy some chlorox

  • Parents think they started the car...

  • That kid is really good...

I love it when his mom slides his sandwich towards him and he's like

    "AGHH..."

  • @Xenda May the force be with you.

  • Nah it wasn't that good.

  • @Xenda how the hell did 40 people like this stupid ass comment, please don't infect our gene pool by procreating

  • And the funniest thing was that the parents thought they turned the car on.

    (joke copied from another video)

  • Ana just did a strike back on Cenk when she interrupted him to finish her own point.

  • @htimSsalohciN bout time !!!

  • @htimSsalohciN

    STRIKEBACK!!!

They should make a soundboard sample for that one :)

  • @htimSsalohciN haha your comment does deserve a plus 100

  • meh.

  • btw..anybody notice passat?..looks shit

  • I'm sorry, but I think Darth is a girl. And there's nothing wrong with that. :) (Unless 'he' went into an older sister's room...)

  • Legend

  • That kid's a great physical actor. You could tell his expressions by his movements and that was great!

  • I liked the Bridgestone Ad with the Beaver.

  • This Ad can pretty much APPLY TO ALL CARS.

  • It was ok... I have no idea what people see in the ad personally.

Stick a baby in any ad and everyone loves it.

The Detroit/Eminem ad was my favorite.

  • He should have used the Remote on a Car which was capable of Running the Kid over.

  • And how many more Passats would be sold because of this ad? Probably not much. Meaning, the ad was not that great. An ad is only as good as the increase in sales it generates.

  • @hofifut if only a fraction of 1% bought a VW based on the youtube views alone, that translate in to a lot of cars. either way, marketing is not just about moving the product, it's also about brand awareness. To put it in perspective for ya, VW shares are up 3 bucks since Monday.... The force was strong with this ad.

  • @Jogicat

First, your hypothetical case of a small percentage of YouTube views translating into sales doesn't make sense because that's not how the world works. Secondly, your comment about marketing and brand awareness is mixed up in that marketing is ultimately about driving sales. Brand awareness and marketing are both intended to drive sales. Maybe not immediate sales, but sales nonetheless. And your stock quote is simply wrong. Up $1.50 since Monday, but up $10 since Oct, before the ad

  • Best commercial ever!

  • That's why i love quality commercials... 1 good 15 sec ad have more creativity put into it then all the reality show put together.

  • Cute ad, but it didn't "wow" me... Just another cute ad with a huge product placement in it, so what?
