OMG.......MY FTHER LOOOVVVVVVEEE THIS COMMERCIAL, INFACT, HE WATCHED THE COMMERCIAL AND PLAYED IT OVER AND OVER FOR THE NEX FEW WEEKS!!!(he's a starwars nerd...lmfao)
The problem I have noticed with the really funny commercials is that you often remember the commercial but have no idea what product the were peddling.
For example, I enjoyed the "Was Abe Lincoln honest?" ad and the "I has it" ad but I can't remember what it was I am supposed to buy. I also couldn't remember what car it was in this commercial until this video reminded me.
"Actually there was a news story about the boy. He's supposedly undergoing heart surgery."
...While that may be true, it sounds like the classic urban legend. Often when there is a really popular commercial, some sort of story starts going around that the actor in it died or is dying. Two examples that come to mind are the "Mikey likes it!" kid and the "Cha-Ching" guy dying but there have been several others.
I'd suggest doing some research before repeating it.
@jimbrown257 I get what you mean. Now I can't say I believe it, as this was mentioned on the news. But again we are pretty much aware that when something becomes popular there is always the case of exploiting the story for possible ratings. The statement came from the kid himself. Research he did have congenital heart disease. So it's true. You can research it yourself.
lol. in super popular commercials like this the actors are more popular than the actual product they are trying to sell. Like remember the Old Spice commercial?
Dress the kid up like Harry Potter and give him a stick and you have my nephew when he was younger. Kept trying to turn everything in the house into cake; used to piss him off to no end that he never could get anything to turn into cake.
Remote start is like $50 to put on a car, and it's been around for a long long time. Not new or expensive technology. Mine came with the alarm I put on my car.
Also stop acting like this kid is just the best actor ever. I mean all he had to do was walk and move his hands. This is a Super Bowl commercial, that they payed a large amount of money to put on the air i'm sure they made sure he did everything exactlly right. This concept that he is so talented because he can wear a costume. What about those south american kids who kick soccer balls from to each other from different rooftops, are even kids who work in sweat shops. Can Vader kid do that?
@7tmo lol, that's not all he had to do. walking and moving hands can express countless emotions and intentions. it's the subtleties of how he walks and moves his hands that people are noticing.
go outside and look at people walking around; you'll start noticing that people all walk differently.
@Erilis666 I understand that their is probably many levels to acting. I'm just not impressed that he can do this with probably days of practice, and hired trainers guiding him. I mean I think he did a good job, Im just not so easily impressed, when I know there are kids who can do things alot more difficult, without being paid or trained extensively to do so.
I just dont get why this is so popular. I mean I dont even think it was Super Bowl worthy. I guess you have to be a woman, have kids, are be a Star Wars nerd, to actually love it.
@VictimOfBoredom Darth Vader's Tie Fighter was designed by VW and manufactured in Germany- plus the name vader is basically german for father (vater)- so it's kinda related
Aren't you suppose to fear Darth Vader since he was a villain? I digress though, I honestly didn't think the commercial was that great but to each his own. It could've been a lot worse lol
@elmirasahar seriously, just cuz a commerical is good, does not in any way make me want to buy their car or any product for that matter....tat said, the commerical was gay anyways,, what was the point?? told nothing about the car
Let's give it to the kid too. What a great actor. He gets his message of his intense concentration in every attempt at using the force and when it worked, his reaction was priceless. The jump back, then "did you see that?" and the double check...great work kid, great work.
I think this is a geat commercial. What an awesome thing for a dad to do for his son. Keeps that magic of childhood and his imagination alive. Kudos to Volkswagon and the people who came up with this ad.
OK ad, the better of them all, but being superbowl ads are mostly garbage and this year's were beyond horrible, it doesn't really say that much. What, remote start is new thing? I've had it on my both my autos for over 10 years. Americans brains are just tenderized by tv, I could of wrote a better ad for every ad that was played SB Sunday. One example is the violent pepsi ads, I would of used the Sean Penn character in Bad Boys 1983, bagfull of pepsi, two bad guys, one big asskicking.
my favorite ads were the pepsi max ones where the girl throws things at her boyfriend and the one where the couple are on a date and you can hear their thoughts. I also liked the one where Tommy got stuck in a well, a hot air balloon, the belly of a whale, and a volcano

Maybe not immediate sales, but sales nonetheless. And your stock quote is simply wrong. Up $1.50 since Monday, but up $10 since Oct, before the ad
