@Motorfordtoyota 2 stroke cars were being made until 1990 in the German Democratic Republik (before the reunion with west Germany) under brandnames Trabant, Wartburg and Barkas. Google them if you'd like.
There where many two-stroke cars with 1, 2 or even 3 cylinders made in Europe before&after ww2. Goggo, DKW, Saab, Messerschmitt, Maico, Peel and some more, while our american friends prefered V8 engines.
yes it is a 3 cyl.. i have an exact same engine in my homebuilt tractor.. thats on around 450 -500cc make 50 - 60 2-stroke horsepowers but this is a sport so it's bigger =)

i dont know much about those cars, but it sounds like a triple cylinder. almost like a triple snowmobile but not as good sounding.
