Now I like this pair, plese don't give thumbs down! They have nice work ethic, I see they are making lots of steps to improving their edgework especially in outside edge of Meryl, really good!

I like Meryl and Charlie, and their new dances. But I agree they still have long way to go!

Technique aside, I like this much more than V/M. If it was V/M's last year's FD, I wouldn't have said it.. But i think they played the drama very well..

But I believe, honestly, Faiella /Scali of Italy are the most underscored couple to date. I think their FD is better than French, Canadians, and maybe even B/A.. just saying.

I like it. The music and theme is much more accessible, making the whole presentation less technical. It's clear V&M tried to play D&W's game this year with their more romantic program. Did they (V&M) really want to invite comparisons?

What?? Virtue and Moir are the ones who always play the romance (just look at Valse Triste and Umbrellas of Cherburg) while Davis and White the drama (Polovetsian Dances and Eleanor Rigby). This year´s programs totally fit their styles.

Fit their style?  A matter of opinion. I thought last year's rock program served them better by hiding their footwork. They simply don't match up to D&W in this category. Which is why in the slow section of V&M's program there really isn't much to impress. Oh, and V's white dress doesn't help much either.

You are dead wrong. D/W footwork have some problems, isn't the best. Don't be foooled into thinking davis white have best footwork just because the choreography is fast paced. V/M score higher GOE's on footwork than davis white ever did, Tessa may not be 100% but I think team V/M have better movement and footwork than D/W. Just saying. :)

Meryl and Charlie are good too, I hope them work on better skating in the future.

I will have to look at the two couples Grade of Execution scores in order to concur with you. I do know that D&W outscored V&M in the Free Dance last year, the difference being their higher Technical Elements score. I don't think the technical judge would have been fooled by their fast choreography.

Well again, I believe you are getting the two couples mixed up. hahaha. D/W have always had the most frantic style of presentation, literally, really too rushed, giving in to slips, and breaks and semi-disasters. Thank goodness it was not the case here though!

Oh, I mean't when V/M are healthy and prepared they get higher GOEs. Last year, they got beaten in the TES by 3 couples! I think Tessa is healed almost well recover now after surgery. And fast choreography? Well that is a trademark of D/W's presentation style, which can hide things like correct free leg placement, good lines and such. That is why I don't think Meryl Charlie can skate to slower music, it takes much more control and won't allow them to hide weaknesses.

Odd, I would have thought it was the reverse! V/M have been known for their romantic programmes far more than D/W. In fact V/M get criticized quite a bit for sticking with romantic FDs (Valse Triste in 06/07, Umbrellas of Cherbourg in 07/08 and now Mahler)

Anyway, great performance but I do wish they had better music cuts! (I like Weaver/Poje's cuts; if only Meryl and Charlie had those!)

They really are good but I thought they were very overrated here.

I just don´t understand how their scores were higher than V/M´s in Paris.

Don´t take me wrong, I think the´re fantastic but there wasn´t need of inflate their scores when there was no couple close to them at this competition (wonder what would have been the result with Domnina and Shabalin)

IJS is not a comparison judging system like 6.0. So it really doesn't matter who else is competing. The score is the score whether Domnina & Shabalin were there or not. The judges and tech controller are not going to deliberately lower a score duly earned, just because the competition isn't as tough.
