  • I personally don't use a stipple brush for foundation...latex sponges wooo

  • Thanks for the tips Siobhan. I was having some trouble with getting VERY streaky foundation with my 188 even though I loved the finish but I'll try what you said next time.

  • I really like this video.. it's been so helpful about all foundation brushes!!

  • As I use a flesh tone eye primer, I don't apply foundation to my eyelids first. That makes sense, doesn't it?

  • @AbbieJolie Yup! x

  • again, really great video :)) i heard that when you apply foundation with the flat brush you can get lots of streaking but if you mix it a bit with a moisturizer it doesn't happen almost at all... is it true? what do you think? esp since you said it's not good to mix foundation with anything else...

  • @kelef666 To get rid of streaks simply tap the brush all over your face after applying with the brush. Obviously don't use the 'spiky' end with the bristles on your face but the flat part.

  • @kelef666 You can mis foundation with moisturiser no problem, just make sure that they are either both oil based or both water based! x

  • Hi, what would you recomed to use with the color stay? for some reason It seems to go into little dots on my skin no matter what moisturiser or primer I use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ive been using the foundation brush

  • @4390evans I don't like this foundation but a small stiffer buffer brush like the new MAC 130 would be good! x

  • the way you said 'they won't poke your eye out' made me laugh for some reason. haha.

  • Just thought I'd add that Illamasqua make really good synthetic brushes, the blush brush 1 is great for buffing in foundation.

  • @DollyGirlBeauty Thanks:)

  • Thanx i learned a lot very informative :)

  • Hi Siobhan :)

Great video! I am not a fan of brushes either.

I heart the Sonia Kushak sponge...I wet it, squeeze it, and blend, blend, blend.

    No lines or streaks.

I need to pick up some of those super size wedges!

    Have a great weekend!

  • i really love your videos siobhan!! do you work on a makeup counter?

  • @samjones0528 Yup, part time! x

  • thanks a million for the sponge used after the flat foundation brush!!!! I had trouble with applying foundation with that brush, streaking, lines, whatever you call it. You're very informative, thanks for teaching us!!!! love love :):)

  • Where did you get your fab bow ring?

  • @SkreetGil New Look!! x

  • That sponge trick is pretty cool! I've always had trouble using those flat foundation brushes. I'm def a stipple-and-swirl kinda girl ;o)

  • Super informative :) loving your latest videos!

  • Hey Siobhan im just wondering is the buffer brush good for dry skin as i have very dry skin and i was told that if u buff ur going to rise the dry skin, whats your view on this? :)

  • @NiamhTbh Only if your skin is prone to flaking, my little sister has dry skin but hers doesn'y flake so she can buff away! x

  • Great video! Really enjoy! Think I will get some sponges...

  • Great video, really helpfull :)

    xxx

  • Thank you for these last couple of vids!!! So, extremely helpful and informative. Color is useless without your base looking good!

  • Can I use the latex wedges to apply cream foundation? I'm a bit inpatient and with the "traditional" foundation brush, it takes a LONG time.

  • @ivette818 Absolutely! x

  • I must definitely try out your method of applying foundation! This was a very useful video :)

  • very informative,my kind of vid,thanks!

  • I find a good trick to use revlon colourstay or other thicker liquid foundations is to spray my face (if my eyes arn't done) or my 187 brush with fix + and is just gives a light mist of moisture to allow me to work quicker with the foundation and it thins it out slightly without taking away from coverage. Just make sure you don't do this tip with a oil-based foundation because it usually will seperate :)

    xo

  • very useful and helpful video

  • Thanks for sharing! I have a question, I have a lot of foundations that I don't use anymore..can you give me any ideas what to do with them? I hate throwing out makeup unless its old so I was wondering what i could do with it.

  • @PAW876 Maybe give them to your friends??

  • can you also do a video talking about the specific brushes to use for the eyes? this video is really useful!

  • @ALMat101 Will do in the future! x

  • @LetzMakeup thank you!

  • thanks so much! i have the smaller duo-fibre mac brush and the same foundation! so that gave me loads of advice!

  • Thank you so much for doing this video, it was so helpful as it can be soooo confusing as to what is the right type of brush/tool to use! Great review! )

  • Yet Another Great Video Siobhan Awesome Tips I just love the way you explain and try to help us understand thank you for your time much love oxox Melinda

  • great tips!

  • This video was so helpful! <3

  • Hi siobhan , im buying my first foundation soon , could you please make a 'choosing a foundation' video please :)

  • i hate people touching my face as well lol i love using this sephora airbrush blush type brush for foundation :)

  • Oh, and I'd love to see how you put concealer/what concealer you use for under your eyes ! I have that crepey problem, plus my foundation/concealer/powder/whatever gets caught in a fine line I have under there and makes them look worse >.<

  • When I use my stippling brush, it goes REALLY streaky if I wipe/buff with it, and if I stipple, it goes really blotchy/weird texture, no matter how long I do it for/apply more/less etc. ;___;

Maybe it's my brush, it's the pink one from coastal scents, do you think it's a bad brush ?

  • @kimdersurprise I was never able to master the stippling brush for foundation either. You could try a sigma ss197, or a MAC 109, or the Sonia Kashuk flat topped kabuki.

    I <3 my 109!

  • @TheJnervous Heh, unfortunately you can't get sigma or sonia kashuk things here, and the MAC one is a little expensive for me at the moment ; 3; thanks for the suggestion though ! Maybe one day I'll try the MAC one xD

  • @kimdersurprise That's too bad :-( I thought Sigma had international shipping, but maybe I'm wrong.. I'm in Canada, but used to live in the U.S. There's so much that I can't get here, even. I heard Siobhan talking about thicker foundations not working so well with the duo fiber brushes. Maybe a lighter foundation would work better for you?

  • @TheJnervous I don't actually know about their shipping, I don't even know their website ! xD I only know it's not in shops here >.> could you please direct me to the website ? :D How much are the brushes ?

I can't get alot here, either, I live in Australia. I wish we had Sallys or Sephora or something here x.x

Hmm, my foundation is really quite thin though, it's the Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15
