@MassimoPiai That's what I would define it as, although I have heard a few people reword two the words and say them the other way, but I think the way you said it is the right one
@koobydotnet yeah, I was just experimenting with the resolutions, I remember the good old days when my 4:3 videos would look fine in the youtube player, then the vertical bars came in and ruined that, I don't really have the money to get a decent HD camera, so I make do :P
I've recorded a few things, I've made a massive talky video, which I just need to compress now, so that should be up in the next few weeks.
As for showing some tangible progress, I totally agree, as soon as I have something interesting to show , I'll show it, at the minute I'm just testing things in the console/dumping numbers to files, and designing, but soon enough, I'll make more stuff to show!
I have also worked on a GUI in SDL, ive added buttons, windows, checkboxes, overall functioning dynamic themes, but then i lost the interest because of making a game instead :P, might be working on the gui later, i watched the video but there is no sound in school lol :P
@Z3r0XoL That's quite interesting, how did you find it , in terms of difficulty overall?
and yeah, this project is hard to get enthusiastic about sometimes, mainly since I haven't got my design right yet, whenever I think of a good one, I usually end up finding some fault with it, also since I study at university, I don't always have the time to work on my own projects.
@ProgrammerInProgress yeah, time is always an issue, well try to start with a really simple(as simple as possible and probably as dynamic as well if you are gonna add stuff to it) design and after youve got it functioning add more and more untill it becommes what you shape it too :P
Building a library, eh? I wish you a lot of luck. It is no small task building a game, let alone building a suite of classes and functionality that could be used in constructing other such games. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your motivation and goals.
I shuddered at "UML diagrams." but more power to you if you have success with them.
Thankyou for your support, it's much appreciated :-)
Yeah, those UML diagrams can look a little grizzly to start off with, but I just see it as good practice for my exams, class diagrams aren't so bad, and that's mainly what I'll be using the UML for.
I'm trying to keep the library as simple as possible, but allow for future expansion, I intend to start off with a few simple classes and expand from there, I will be sure to keep everyone updated on my goals and motivation too :D
Interesting project. I am looking forward seeing how you put it all together and how it turns out. OOD and development of large projects is something I have become more interested in lately (began out of necessity).
And sweet retro consoles. A clean SNES is worth a few bob these days. You've got to get an official controller for it!
indeed, exams and going to uni somewhat mess up your routine, but hopefully I'll crack on with this series now I'm settled (and out of money to go out and party lol)

I truly can't wait until I get all of my designs down and start implementing them, but we'll see how it goes before I start celebrating, haha.

I'm way ahead of you on that front, I ordered one on ebay, but the guy underpaid the postage, it's going to cost me £1.08 to get the thing!
Thanks for your feedback, I'll try my best to deliver some quality videos in the future :-)
