  • Thanks for putting music that fits, a lot of these urban exploration videos have death metal playing. BTW, do you remember what year those magazines/catalogs were from....just curious.

  • @sgtpepper1138 Glad to know you liked my music choice and I believe they were from 2002? I can't remember exactly since its been a few years when I did this video

  • @Satsc2 understandable.

  • I was stationed in FT Ord in 1967 1968...I remember pulling guard duty on the beach..ha!..Ft Ord was a basic training base at that time...memories ...

  • @chihene

I was there in 1959 for basic. Remember double-timing through the sand at the rifle range? The "flying $10" they paid you for foot locker stuff at the PX?

Good memories now, hated it during basic. (Of course I was supposed to!) (^_^)

  • They should reactivate fort ord & do something bout richardson & lewis...last time I checked, the coldwar was over! What a waste it ws by the beach & the terrain was magnificient..

  • That's a shame. We should be closing bases overseas not here at home.

  • ha you can hear the races at laguna scea near by

  • @dizle34 Yep!! It sounded great hearing it from a distance

  • Ive been there. Theres been plans to demolish the site. The paper and all the stuff you see in 1:00 is old letters, Magazines ...Basically antiques. scary place. Theres A hidden underground bunker but the metal door has been welded shut for 30 years

  • looks like there would be a lot of cool stuff laying around

  • find anything cool like weapons clothing ammo crates ect

  • They should put another division there and reuse the base. The BRAC was stupid. Now troops are crowded on bases and jobs were lost tied to them.

  • Reminds me of Fallout 3

  • what a waste of land.......it's sad

  • It has seen better days there's no lie about it. But it is pretty cool to go visit

  • my grandfather was here back in the 50's it doesnt look anything like what he told me.

  • @aquasafe123 Yea it has seen better days

  • What a shame - A lot of recycleble materials left there to go to waste. US Government should at the very least make efforts to clean the place up.

  • @fidobeto I agree. It would make the area look a lot better

  • that is a massive porno collection going to waste !

  • Thanks for the haunting video; I was there for basic (H-2-1) October 1967. The buildings and location reveal so much spent energy, lost youth, and with the perspective of many years hindsight, much fun. I walked the old wooden barracks before they fenced it in, and I was oddly moved by the white painted stones that bordered walkways, documenting many hours of punishment details.

  • ...somthing moves at :53

  • @Tyger504 haha I saw that. It was windy that day so it was just a piece of paper blowing in the wind

  • @Tyger504 prolly wind in a bag... or alien

  • Dam, another big base gone. I was at fort mcclellan that is gone too. Base cuts cause of budget but yet we just spent a trillion dollars on BULLSHIT!!!

  • @hotdog2020

"I was at fort mcclellan that is gone too"

Was supposed to go there back in October of 1987...wish I would have too

  • The teft TONS of good stuff behind.. FURNITURE, metal, doors etc a lot of that stuff could be recycled ..

  • While this base is dead, the U.S. Army will live on forever. B-5-10 7th I.D. 1991-93 Thanks for the video, it is a walk back in time for me.

  • My dad was stationed in Fort Ord back in the day. I showed him this video and he said it brought back so many memories. Wish they could have kept the buildings in good shape. Why did the base close down?

  • thoes forms are prob like top secret u should read them LOL i wanna move to the us and get thos forms!!!!

  • the decay and smashed windows is so sad

    wat is the music please??

  • @TheScotGamer The music is from 28 days later score soundtrack

  • I had basic (D-5-1-) and AIT (B-2-4) there in 1972. I drove in there about a year ago. It was quite haunting, as well as nostalgic. Thanks for the post.

  • @rla3853 Welcome. Yea it must of been. To bad its just left to fall apart. I wish they could make some of the buildings into museums etc.

  • AWESOME

  • Thanks!!

  • I was there from 1974 - 1977 (1st. through 3rd. grade at Patton Elementary).

Greatest place in the world back then. Silas B. Hospital... I remember my mon would take me there any time I had anything wrong with me, and they'd give me a shot of penicillin EVERY time. Didn't matter if it was an earache or upset smomach... "Bend over, boy."

Sad it's gone to the rats. I remember the O-Club as a kid. What a spead on Friday nights. Lived at 208 Carswell, walking distance to Patton.

  • The PX and commissary are still there and in use; Silas B. Hayes is still there, but it's not a hospital anymore. It's really sad to see what's happened to the old post; I was there in 1972 and in 1973, and the decay is depressing.

  • I agree. Its really sad to see history like this rot. I thought I heard that the city of Marina and/or Monterey are trying to save some buildings around the area. When I was there I notice they were moving a old church so maybe they will do that some surrounding buildings

  • Thank you for the video. The music is really fitting. We lived there from 1984-88. My ex was assigned to Headquarters 707th Maintenance. What happened to the Commissary, PX, Silas B Hayes?

  • Thank you for the nice comments!! You know I'm not sure what happened. It looks like they are slowly starting to get rid of alot of the buildings around the area
