Your music and your lyrics are magical Taylor as long as it comes form the heart. Even a cover can be meaningful; don't worry about pleasing other people. You are bound to be successful.
my favorite qoute that I live by:
"Hope is neither false nor true, but a happiness of itself, a fuel that carries us toward our dreams" _ Elisabeth Robinson
Keep you chin high and from your heart and you bound to be even more successful than you already are! Ta Ta For Now!!!
Anyway, I love dark/depressing music...if you have not heard Lou Reed's "Berlin", check it out! Just do what you really feel...be it regular "pop rock" music or whatever. It's all good...unless it's really not part of you.
I don't hear a lack of simplicity in your songs, such as "I don't know about you but I'm not afraid..." That one was meant to reach people, and should. The fact that it is does, is not an example of your being less than true to yourself. Everything you write is a part of yourself being expressed. You can't be connected 100% to your songs, when many songs people write are subliminal expressions that we understand only in later years. That's part of the beauty of writing original songs, I'd say.
Very true Joe. But I know when a song feels like a unconscious expression, and when it feels like needlework. And I want to get more away from the latter. I'll be around, fear not!
P.S, Do I have your permission to put 'My Friend Today' as a track near the end of the compilation? (haha I'm really doing a retrospectacle!)
Taylor, I guess I just have marveled when I've seen John Lennon discussing, in interviews, early songs like "Help" & "I'm a Loser" with Lennon realizing so long afterward that he was writing about himself, when at the time he just thought he was just writing a movie theme or album filler. Really love that you're doing a retrospective. Of course you may use any of our co-written songs from way back, or any song of mine that you ever honored me by... through recording or performing. - jv
nothing you produce could ever be agonizing. i can't wait to hear what's to come in the next chapter of taylor. making music is a journey. try to appreciate the ups and downs, you fantastic, talented man.
I can't "time" inspiration for things like videos. But, that is different than works of art like your music. Removing myself from life doesn't leave much else than the mundane.
Yes. Set up PayPal. You need to be compensated for your music.
You'll come out on the other side of this, I promise.
