  • testing that the rev limiter is functional? ;)

  • this one sucks

  • Hudreds tons of $ sound really a bit exessive. as far as I know our school newer model with carbon body came to something around a bit less than $30k. TKTK.ee

And for those REAL home-made engineers: yes, you can build much faster and much cheaper car, but THE POINT is building it following FSAE rules. For example you couldn't go to MotoGP with Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 first of all because it's restricted to 800ccm or race with SmallBlock engine in 2000ccm rally class.

  • @unclesonnyonutube I seriously agree with those other guys, perhaps $100000 is a bit excessive but something made for a couple of grand in a months time is in no way going to withstand the amount of forces the frame undergoes, these things corner at 1.4G a bodged up "1 month" frame will snap like a twig

  • @Kaz8694 for 100000$ just buy a damn GT-R lol

  • notice the clutch is slipping hard at 0:32 because he screwed the centrifugal clutch from that thrashing when he looses the end. Just look at how he taps the pedal to get the car moving new clutch buddy lol.

  • Seems low reving

  • @petroljunky

Some teams chose to build their cars around V twin engines instead of inline fours. The sound may also be a result of the muffler silencing the high pitch noise. Who knows

  • @corotor12345 we build a sigle cylinder supercharged...università di modena!some of the best cars are single cyl btw!

  • that "little toy for kids" costs minimum 200 000 euro....and couple of years working...would you be able to build it by yourself???

  • i would like to buy Ferrari Better

  • Not really. My school built ours in one year for $30k

  • @paul289

    30k is ridiculous!

you can build one of these even better for under 10k.

With very little fab skills and minor welding experience this can be built from ground up in about 3-5 weeks max by one person.

  • @unclesonnyonutube

    screw you *lol*

  • @feb600

    a couple of years?

    200,000 euro?

you must be out of your mind, you give me 10k usd and i will build one in less than a month that will make this thing look like a dick with fins.

  • @unclesonnyonutube pity you're not our head engineer, you would be our solution to everything!!!

why don't you come to silverstone on july 18th??there will be students from all over the world racing cars they paid 100-300k euro, so you can explayn them how to build it in 3weeks with 10k....genius!

ciao bello, abbassa un pò il crestino che se non sai la roba fai la figura del pirla!

  • @feb600

what the hell on these piss slow things could possibly cost 300k? If they are paying 100-300k euros for these then they are seriously over-engineered for their intended purpose and underpowered compared to things you could build for a fraction of the price. what I would build wouldnt be able to run in the same class as these because it would dust these toys. Why would people even bother wasting time on a 300k euro single cylinder that has a wheelbase of a toy wagon?

  • @unclesonnyonutube

    "piss slow"?!?!

search for "FSAE CAR eats supercars" and "FSAE Rennteam Uni Stuttgart beim Bergrennen"....than we talk

(btw: we have a 20mm intake restriction, and FSAE is a worldwide championship with hundreds of universities involved...did you know?)

  • @feb600

    Since when was a BMW E55 a "supercar" ?

You keep trying to make your point and all its doing is digging a hole.

As I was saying, and i will stick to this... 1 person working 10 hours a day for 30 days or less could fab a tube frame with a R1 engine or better and either match or beat the numbers laid down by these things all for under 10k usd.... any moron that pays 30k for one of these deserves to get his ass handed to him by a junkyard special DIY kart...

  • @unclesonnyonutube again...you don't know the rules of this championship!

you can use only 600cc engines, 20mm intake restriction (do you understand what that means for the engine?) and very short wheelbase, that's an autocross competition (you have any idea what that means?)!

and still...you really believe you can do better than a few hundred universities all over the world do every year?really?!than they're ALL dumbasses right?

    (btw:...what is a bmw e55?...)

  • @feb600

They are a good way to familiarize yourself with the type of work you,ll be doing via F1 shit. However, all this carbon fiber, hud steering wheel, wind tunnel test, $800 seat are unnecessary to achieve this kind of performance.

Its all schooling for a career that 80% will never qualify for anyhow.

I take it all back, I CANT build one of THESE for 10k....BUT i can build something way faster with twice the engine.

The E55 is an AMG series BMW in the video you told me to watch.

  • @unclesonnyonutube AMG series BMW?!?!?!?!

that explains everything i need to know about your knowledge of cars....

('inchia che figura da idiota che hai fatto...)

  • @feb600

mercedes... whatever, simple mistake that you quickly capitalized on.

    fuckin smartass...

and that foreign shit talk is just ignorant, if you got something to say just fucking say it in english.

  • @unclesonnyonutube ok, you're right, i'm wrong, sorry!bye

  • @unclesonnyonutube unless you want a car that weighs 500 lbs, you need carbon fiber, there are no wind tunnel testing, all the perimeters can be entered into a computer program, and the seats are actually made of carbon fiber with some foam padding. The idea of the competition is to build a formula car on a budget with hundreds of rules in place. These cars are built in the mindset that they could theoretically be manufactured to mass proportions and still be a reliable race car.

  • @unclesonnyonutube Also, these are not full time race engineers, these are college students. They have to design, test, and build a race car on top of having 15+ college credit hours a week. Also, the total price is calculated to what it would cost if you paid someone to build it, so its much higher than what teams actually pay for parts since we make every part of the car minus the engine.

  • @SubyReeves

What sort of engines are used? Also what are the restrictions put in place e.g. can you stick a hayabusa engine in there ;)

  • @leebee1989 600cc or less, unlimited cylinders, but normally people stick with the motorbike engines. 20mm restrictor on the intake. 4stroke. They limit the power alot because it's not about going really really really really fast, but more about the engineering aspect. And of course you need a good driver.

  • @unclesonnyonutube you really have no idea what your talking about, join an fsae team first and then talk, its a lot more than fabbing a tube frame, we have to to ansys and design reports and cost/weight/points analysis and everything before we can go ahead and manufacture anything. fabbing a simple tube frame may take a few hours, getting a optimized and built car in which all of the systems work together and fit together well takes a lot more than that.

  • didnt know little kids toys accelerated from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds

  • where's the drifting?

  • how about a stage 5 driver mod ;)

  • drifting? you mean spinning out?

  • bullshit
