  • What song do you play at about 50 seconds?

  • "Moose the Mooche" is a composition written by Charlie Parker in 1946. Written shortly after Dizzy Gillespie left him in LA to return to NYC. Bird had been a long time heroin addict and had been using since he was 17. Some historians suggest that the song was named after the drug dealer that sold him drugs for several years before being arrested.

  • nice playing! i was just wondering what mouthpiece you were using in the end, loved the sound of it!

  • @dalaranman

    It was a Reeves 43.5 C2J Mouthpiece

  • i dont know how to blow high =(

  • @UnlimitedXDX u gotta wrap ur lips around it and take it down ur throat

  • Is a Schilke MII a good trumpet?

  • @debater70

They are considered intermediate or step up horns. But I have played some very good ones in the past. Usually it is the valve action is the first thing to go on those horns.

  • Hi there! Great playing! I am looking at getting into the trumpet. I am quite proficient at Piano/guitar/drums and want to try my hand at a wind instrument. Would you recommend this for a beginner? How much should I pay for one?

    Thanks for your time!

  • I just recently bought one of those and doing great on it for someone that's use to playing euphonium. Can't wait to see whose level I'll get on. Great work Btw.

  • whats the song at 0:49 ?

  • "Moose the Mooche" is a bebop composition written by Charlie Parker in 1946.Written shortly after his friend Dizzy Gillespie left him in LA to return to NYC. In the key of B-flat and has a 32-bar AABA based on the I Got Rhythm changes with extensive use of the ii-V-I turnaround.

  • @HornTrader bro thts a crazy amount of detail

  • @cmansupastar

Thanks for the Kudos ............... I have one in stock just like in the video,

I can send it out with free shipping.

    Steve

  • whats the velocity of this instrument in comparison to the regular full sized Bb trumpet?

  • @JamalCorrie

    Jamal,

Not sure what you mean by "velocity" as it applies to these pocket trumpets. They have about the same blow ( resistance) as a regular Bb and can play very close to the same volume as the Bb.

    Steve

  • 0:42 i thought he said "emo harming mute"

  • Hi, i love the sound thats produced (flugelish sound). whats the mouthpiece brand/model that you use to produce that sound? or any mouth pieces and produce that kinda sounds?

  • @jsikdar91

I'm playing a Reeves 43.5 C2J Mouthpiece ....... they are pricy at around $150 But Curry Makes a TF Mpcs that you can find on Mouthpiece Express for around $55

Good Luck and thanks for the kind words!

    Steve

  • These horns can play the same range as a full sized Bb trumpet. The full sized bell flair gives these pockets a big sonorous sound and the ability to use all mutes. I own this scratched lacquer model myself and am very pleased with the CarolBrass line of horns in general.

  • @HornTrader Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed purchasing my Carol Pocket trumpet from you. It plays really great, exactly as you say here on the vid. I'm still surprised every time I pick it up - I'm a fan! Anyone else reading this and thinking about doing business with Steve, all I can say is he really knows his stuff, he's a great guy to chat with and you'll get your horn exactly when he says you will!

  • @willhenshall

Thanks Will! That's quite an endorsement! I hope to catch one of your performances ........... Keep me posted on your upcoming events!

    Thanks for the kind words,

    Steve

  • i have a question..do these pocket trumpets have the same range as a regular one? like can you hit the low notes on them?

  • @SeerSucker1981

Theses horns have the same range as their big bb brother.

I prefer a larger cup mpc when I play these little guys because

it is a more pleasing sound that close to your ear. All that being said

They play the highs and lows just like a regular full sized Bb trumpet.

    Enjoy!

    Steve

  • Is it easier to hit higher notes with a pocket trumpet? Or is it the same?

  • Fantastic Steve. I love that Carol Pocket trumpet. Actually every horn I bought from you was fantastic. Thanks you selling me the Bach 184 Large bore Cornet through HornTrader. I love it!!!!

  • The pockets are a big hit! The full size gold brass bell really sings for a little guy. The fact that you can put harmon or cup mutes in it are a big plus!

  • @HornTrader Hi Steve. I finally got the Carol Pocket trumpet in the mail. The Satin Finish is nice too. The tuning and sound is excellent. Perfect for travel. I believe that this is THE DEFINITIVE Pocket trumpet. Very, very reasonably priced!!! Thank you very much Steve.

    Cheerio,

    Piccolomaster

  • @piccolomaster Thanks!

I think you've sad it all!

Perfect for travel. I believe that this is THE DEFINITIVE Pocket trumpet.

  • How did you make the sound much softer when you switched mouthpieces? Is there any difference between the two types?

  • @phoshizzo

    Curry TF Mouthpiece

  • I'm going to ask for a pocket trumpet for X-mas, would it be possible to find one of these for around $300?

  • I got one about 2 months ago, Silver Plate and with the smaller bell. Best pocket trumpet on the market!! This pocket trumpet sounds and feels so much like a normal Bb that I bought it with the smaller bell option just so I could get that real old school pocket trumpet sound.

Hands down recommend this horn if you're looking for a new toy!

  • Hi @macblaaj

That for the plug! They are really great horns.

I plan to do another video of these little guys very soon.

    Steve

  • Ur a good player!

  • @Snglemanband

    Thanks Bro!

  • They are pretty cool horns!

  • Its adorable. hahaha lol

  • They are really special!

I keep mine in my truck for when I get to the gig with

    an empty case............ LOL

  • That's got to be the nicest pocket I've seen to date!
