What do you mean by "authentic"? Do you (or does Steve) view the recent swing changes made while working w/ Ben Doyle as contrivances--or something he is better off without?
@martinez19696 I took lessons from Ben Doyle in Carmel, CA for several years. There are videos on youtube with Steve working alongside Ben Doyle. Ben definitely has a very precise method for not only the swing, but setting up to the ball, waggling, etc. It looked like Steve had adopted many of those mannerisms in his pre-shot routine and swing. In this video, his swing does look more like the swing in his book.
There is actually very little classic "C" in the swing. If you watch his spine it stays relatively straight. It looks that this is achieved through his whole right side turning through vs the classic move that gave the "C" had one turn the hips down, while keeping the upper body back. I would geuss that if one asked Mr. Elkington about pressure in his back it would be very little. just a geuss, but a confident one
I'll never forget the first time I saw Elk swing. It was back in the 90's watching the Players. I watched him hit a shot and said, "Who the f*%k was that?!?" The best swing I'd ever seen.
Look at the footwork and hips in the swing. Classic!

Side note: Steve has some long arms.

Yes he does have long arms.
I'm confused as to the rest of your post as in "recent " "changes" "Ben Doyle".
Authentic, meaning he's putting it where he wants to, not where someone else thinks it should be.

You answered my question though. Thanks.

@TexanProgressive
He has changed his routine somewhat, no waggling now etc, but I know that he places a high value on the time he spent working with Ben Doyle.

There is a lot of reverse C in that finish. Amazing he does not have more back issues.
