i was riding a new pony at our stables, she's 5 and we didnt know if she knew how to engage her hindquarters. She oviously had no idea what to do because she starded to piaffe! but we do these kind of exercises with her :) and your horse is is a beauty!!
@Thatkidwithguns LOLOLOL about the piaffe!!! :) Yours must be a very talented pony!!! :) :) :) Glad to know you are working on similar exercises and that they are working well for you. Thank you also for the kind compliment about my mare!
Wow lovely! I need to try this with my horse now :) I just bought him and he is a 5 year old too, needs to do the same. How often did you do this through the week?
@spiskifish Hi and thanks so much for your comment. It was always the goal with each and every ride, to get my mare moving forward into the bridle and round over the topline with active hindquarters, and since I rode her about 5-6 days a week at that time, I'd have to say that we worked on engaging her hindquarters 5-6 times a week! The only thing is that it IS a lot of work for a young horse, so I gave her frequent walk breaks, and didn't ask for too much, too long. Hope that helps! Good luck!!
very very nice here ... SHE is a great mover... try opening your inside rein a little on corners to get your bend and tapping her with your inside leg to keep her straight and forward on the long wall... just sometimes helps a bit... good job girl !!!!
@eventerkatie84 Thank you so much for the kind compliment!!!!! She really has developed so much, both physically and mentally, over the last year....what a journey we've had so far!! :) It means so much to me to hear that someone else experienced with TBs thinks that she's going well....TBs are my absolutely favorite breed! Their beauty, intelligence, heart, engine, loyalty, and power always take my breath away...I would never hope to own anything else!! Thanks again for watching! :) :)
