i did something simular with my guitar ok listen up if u did remove pickguard and electronics its possible that u didnt wire it well (jack can be problem if u cant get sound at all) so check everything in my oppinion. 2nd thing open ur picks and there is a tiny wire u'll c it if that is not connected re conect it and all done. this is only some basic
maybe you should post a video response to this one. So you can let people hear and see the fretless result. And finally be freed of the "good advice".
wow ppl are ass holes on this lol my best guess would be just go over all your plug in and if there not messed up then just go get new pick ups dude XD
Just go get you some new pickups from GFS (guitar fetish store) you can find it online, and get your local guitar shop to install them for you. It will sound brand new! I had a sorry knock off strat copy from Johnson, and it sounded like crap. But I bought some strat sized lipstick pups from GFS pickups and got my local guitar shop to put them in and it sounds just like SRV's strat (the one he has with lipstick pups)...
well, the steel wool would attach to the pickup because pickups are magnetic, he probably f ed up thw wireing

fretless guitars usually dont sound that nice.

if you make a custom guitar in the future, remove the pickups first. in fact, remove everything. that'll prevent any damage
