  • Can't the fire department do anything right!!! I think they parked that light rescue truck in the way to get the credit for another plane crash for their stats!

  • It's funny how they call it "Fuel Starvation". He fucking ran out of gas. I had a fuel starvation happen on my car one time.

  • Nature will sort out the dumb ones.

  • Americans.....

  • @alan517815 Ignorant people who think all Americans are this stupid.....

  • Probably now a captain at some regional airline in the US.

  • how could he did not see this big box truck parked to side of the road and knowing before hand what would happens if he keep going on the take off roll who was piloting this 210 obama?

  • Why the fuck was the reporter laughing... if I was the pilot would I not only be so fucking pissed but also petrified when the trees started coming closer and closer and closer and then bam....

  • The hit on the truck wing mirror looked like not much damage was caused. But he still tried to t/o? And he knew he was going to hit the other vehicle cos he did veer a bit to the left just before smashing his wing for good this time.

Reminds me of the B747 that landed at MNL airport, safely, on 3 engines, But on subsequent attempted ferry flight back to base, tried taking off, believe this, on 3 engines. Needless to say, the plane did not take off, but was destroyed when it ran off the runway.

  • @shinco52 An unloaded 747 can easily take off with three engines. B747-400 maximum take off weight (MTOW) is 397,000kg (875,000lb). It's empty weight is just 179,000kg (393,000 lb). That's less than half the MTOW. With just enough fuel for the flight it will have no trouble with 25% less max thrust. Also, loaded 747s will usually simply continue on their trans-oceanic flight plans after losing 1 engine *during* takeoff. Obviously there was some other problem with the jet in your story.

  • @gimmedafilez

I'm not quite sure why the B747 I mentioned failed to t/o successfully. I guess 3 engine t/o must be an allowed procedure in the ops manual or else the pilots would not have tried it. But I can imagine how difficult it must be to perform, especially at initial t/o roll when rudder is not efficient and you have to depend on the nose wheel to hold a straight course against the uneven thrust. I think very few airlines would want to risk it and prefer to change the u/s engine first.

  • "Somebody got that on video tape" - Thanks for the report, Capitan Obvious!

  • The damn reporter is laughing hehe.

  • Send him to Flightsafety in Vero Beach! Better yet, send him back to ground school. Wow!

  • His right wing actually clips the bigger truck first, and yet he still has full power in when the wing slams into the second truck. I honestly don't know if I've ever seen or heard of a more brain-dead individual at the controls of an airplane in 3000 + hours of flying over the last 20 years. It's probably lucky that he didn't make it into the air here, or he might have hurt someone besides himself.

  • lol

  • And we wonder why congress is trying to require 1500 TT to fly for the airlines.

  • i think the cops said you can go than he closed the door than the cops said wait dont go and he tookoff i wounder how far he was from Baton rouge LA Airport

  • He ruined a perfectly good cessna 172 he is so dumb

  • @sk8screamerguitar

    Worse than a 172, it's a 210.

  • Comment removed

  • i think the cops were like iTZ GOOD ITZ GOOD OHH WOW TOW TRUCK!!!!

  • what a freekin dumbass!

  • I've watched this video 10 times and just realized that not only does he hit the red truck, he also obliterates the mirror on the semi! This was doomed from the get go.

  • What happens at the very beginning of the video??..a puff of smoke can be seen near the tip of the wing (the viewer's left) that causes him to jolt towards the truck..he tries to correct, but is too late...

  • @xjcrossx I think he corrected on time, just was too close.. If he was trying to take off again this was probably the best thing to happen to him.

  • Right turn Clyde!! Look out!!

  • HAHHAHAHAHAH

  • well, as he wasn't able to take off with those trucks in there, he decided to reduce the wingspan...

if he didn't want the airplane, should have given it to me...

  • i ment double fail, this and not calculating is fuel

  • fail

  • I just noticed for the first time - The pilot did not have any notch of flaps deployed.

I would imagine that this was a short field takeoff as it was on a highway. The 210 procedure is flaps to 10 degrees. Now couple this with the pilot not checking his wing clearance on takeoff and the biggest no-no of running out of fuel, I am shocked he has made it 794 hours. Maybe he just had a bad day.

  • it hits the first truck too

  • Airplane abuse. Your Grounded!

  • he hits the mirror of the semi at :04 before he hits the fuel truck...

  • Right turn Clyde!!!

  • How wide is a two lane highway???? Then lets add a semi truck and a fire services truck. Oh, about 12 ft on the co-pilots side, and of coures such an expirenced pilot knows that the wing span is just a little bigger, well maybe not. I have a litte over 5,500 hours of flying, and somehow I have yet to run out of fuel. You know they make fuel gauges for a reason, not just to look fucking cute sitting there. People like this give the general aviation community a bad image to the public eye. Unreal!

  • 5,500 hours......hahahahaha bullshit mate you occupation says factory electrician???????

  • Really kid!! 5,500 hoursThat's very impressive. And only at the ripe old age of 19 too?Lets see, lets do a little math 5500hrs=about 230days of continuous airtime since you were able to obtain a PPL at 16.And all with a fulltime job too!!!Awesome....not.Sorry I didnt have my BS detector turned off.

  • good old wikipedia huh?

  • This pilot was NOT taught by rod machado, I think we can agree on that.

  • I would have gotten out of the plane and bitched slapped the fuel truck driver.

  • Nobody wanted to check for sufficient space to take off huh?

  • stupid cops can do nothing about it..........

  • The tractor-trailer would like to humbly request a replacement driver-side mirror.

  • People make mistakes...its in human nature.

  • He was scheduled to land at the BR airport, but when he arrived, they wouldnt let him land b/c they were backed up. He had been flying from New Hampshire, and so after 30 minutes of circling BR, he had no choice but to land on Plank Rd. And yes, AGrandt is right, he was cleared by the authories. and rayven2012, he didn't lose his license, which means he's still flying, so be careful next time you think about flying =)

  • @MonkeyBeans;

Cleared by the authorities or not, it is still the pilot's responsibility to manage the fuel supply, even if that means landing at an alternate airport.

  • Baton Rouge Airport kept him in the air too long and he ran out of fuel, so he landed the plane beautifully on Plank Rd. The next day when he was told to takeoff, he radioed to them that it was too tight a fit, but b/c they were holding back traffic, they ushered him on anyways =( He is an experienced pilot, he didn't get his licence taken away, the city admitted it was their fault, he's not a doctor and he's not a nigger...what is wrong with you people? you all sound like the dumbasses...

  • Doctor pilots are famous for that kind of crap. If you look closely he hit both trucks. Demolished the mirror on the first truck and kept going full throttle to hit the second truck. This was probably a blessing in disguise keeping that idiot out of the sky where he could hurt himself or others even worse. I guarantee he had his license yanked.

  • 794 hours and the moron thought he could take off...lol...now i know why accidents happen to 'experienced' pilots...lmfao :)

  • "Jackassity"

  • Without those nice yellow centerlines on taxiways, how could you possibly know if your wings are clearing? Who goes for the takeoff roll being literally a few feet from obstacles anyway?! Unbelievable!

  • Why would he loose his licence over this, according to the video description, the takeoff was cleared with the authoroties, even if the wing strike on the truck were not.

  • If a pilot with +/-800hrs. can not manage a fuel supply, then he should not be flying at all. No one was hurt.......THIS TIME!!

  • MonkeyBeansBigSis stated that he was scheduled to land in an airport, they had no room, and eventually he ran out of fuel after circling for a while. Planes have limited fuel supply, and eventually they will run out.

  • I have over 14,000 hours of flight time built up over 32 years. I've experienced engine failure and LG failure, but never "fuel exhaustion"..... a nice little term for idiots who can not manage a fuel supply.

I'm aware of the circumstances, but I do not think those circumstances are excusable.

It's called "an alternate airport", which any good pilot should have identified before embarking on any type of cross-country trip.

  • On that I can only agree.

  • stupid ass!

  • An fantastic specimen of idiocy. I fail to comprehend how one can put themselves into such a touchy situation as attempting to takeoff from a street after mis-managing fuel to the point of landing on the street to begin with, only to completely fail to remove the most painfully obvious hazards from the situation. I'm sure if there was a rats nest of overhead powerlines that those would have been overlooked by this fool, too. What can one do but shake their head in disbelief.

  • Agreed. If one can't manage your fuel, what makes them think they can take off from a road full of trucks and cars.

    I'm dumbfounded.

  • @cashmab May God damn you. It can happen to you so easily. Just a thought of "oh, I'll go do a quick ten minute flight over the downtown" after coming home from a cross country; the fuel truck was the drivers fault.

  • @SCJohnson77 Sure.

  • the pilots or pilot of this aircraft is so dumb it aint funny! why would you want to takeoff without clearing the road first? IDIOT!!!!!!!

  • he woulda been ok if he didn't catch that Big Rigs mirror. that pulled him slightly right and then it was all over from then on in. very ironic though.

  • good eye, man. I didn't even see the mirror-hit until I saw your comment and replayed it.

  • IRONY,,this is petty ironic,,the truck was there to give the plane fuel to fly,and the plane hits the truck and fails to take off

  • Ummm...he hit both trucks if you look closely

  • Who's the tard who left the emergency vehicle in the way? FAIL!!

  • the pilot. should've never attempted the takeoff with all those vehicles anywhere near. PILOT ERROR!

  • Remember Rob White's joke about the a plane so slow the emergency crew beat it to the scene of the crash? well here you go

  • I am not an all knowing pilot, but to me, fuel starvation is such a preventable thing.

Plan your trip. Get into your poh. Maintain an absolute minimum of 30 minutes of fuel during the day and 45 minutes at night. I try to double that if possible. There are airports with fuel everywhere, there really is no excuse.

  • you dont want stale fuel in your tank, it can freeze and cause your engine to fail...even worse

  • Well put! Thats exactly what they told me word for word when I had flight instruction.

  • The beginning of the story was not caught on the recording, so you need to read it from the description.

That was a take off attempt from a highway, not a runway. I'm pretty sure everyone made a serious effort to make it work, but somehow someone did a mistake. It just happens it was a serious one.

Fortunately no one was harmed, but we will remember this beautiful aircraft forever!

  • stupid

  • What a terrible thing to do to an aircraft. Very very sad.

  • Bonehead

  • bone head....idiot......

  • Watch it hits the bigger truck before the smaller one, what a dick. 0:03

  • haha yeah, I missed that one lol!

  • That was just brilliant.

  • That reporter is retarded... Reason number 317 I hate the media

  • acculy the pilot was an idiot, he ran out of gas, if he would of checked his fuel, he would of been fine, also he took off with 0 flaps, when 10 flaps is recomended. Also he should of seen that the truck was in the way, send that pilot back through flight school

  • umahuma4 Wrote:

"...send that pilot back through flight school."

IMO, the pilot should lose his license permanently. Under these circumstances, fuel starvation is inexcusable.

Except for emergencies, I never fly on my last hour's worth of fuel; consequently, I've never encountered "fuel starvation".

This is one way that people are pointlessly injured or killed in small aircraft. It feeds the notion that small aircraft are dangerous.

In this case, the plane was fine; the pilot was a fool.

  • Permanently? Give me a break. You'd skip right over fines, suspension, some kind of remediation - and go straight for a permanent lifetime revocation. All for an operational error with no malice or criminal behavior. No matter how sorry the guy is, you wouldn't ever let him fly again. Seriously?

Hope you never make a mistake.

You should probably work for the FAA.

  • Jakeharvey:

If you are willing to share the skies with morons like this dude, then go for it.

    I'd rather not.

  • I wonder what else you would advocate permanent lifetime bans for. Missing a radio call in the pattern?

Well, it's a good thing that totalitarian freedom hating troglodytes in the FAA aren't as insane as you.

  • Comment removed

  • Virtually all aviation accidents are the pilot's fault. It could be argued that nearly all accidents are the result of doing something stupid. You're basically advocating that any accident is worthy of an automatic permanent revocation.

Any pilot who thinks he can't have an accident is dangerous. I'm looking at you.

  • What I'm saying is that if pilots lack the discipline to fly safely, then the industry and P/A Brotherhood (and Sisterhood) is better off without them.

All too many people in the general public view private aviation as "dangerous", and as you, yourself have stated, the majority of aviation accidents are caused by pilot error; read that to mean "avoidable".

This was not "one accident"; this was TWO consecutive acts of incompetence and foolishness, all performed in one day!!

  • Jakeharvey Wrote:

Any pilot who thinks he can't have an accident is dangerous. I'm looking at you.

Jake, there is a huge difference between an "accident", and a "wreck". I haven't wracked up over 14,000 hours in the past 32 yrs. by being careless. "Accidents" CAN happen!! I've experienced landing gear failure and engine failure. THOSE were "accidents" because those circumstances were beyond my control.

What we see here is no accident; this was caused by carelessness, and it's inexcusable.

  • I'm with Jake. Sorry outlaw but you act like your perfect and have never and will never make a mistake. PEOPLE AREN'T PERFECT. And if they aren't meant to be up there then they wouldn't have passed the tests for whatever ratings they have. And Outlaw, I wonder if you have ever had a car accident. 95% of drivers had, so technically by your logic you shouldn't even have your license. Could care less how many hours ya have. One pilot never had an engine failure till 20,000 hours. IT HAPPENS.

  • No, KingDaniel, people are not perfect..... but this is a prime example of uncompetence at it's best.

Almost 800 hrs., and he cant manage a fuel supply??

    Checking, then re-checking clearances??

This is how people get killed unnecessarily.

You and Jake will be good company for each other in the loser's corner!!

  • Permanently? Give me a break. You'd skip right over fines, suspension, some kind of remediation - and go straight for a permanent lifetime revocation. Blah, blah, blah, No matter how sorry the guy is, you wouldn't ever let him fly again. Seriously?

This idiot had almost 800 hours under his belt; if he hasn't got things figured out by then, then I doubt he ever will.

Poor cabin discipline caused the "fuel starvation" emergency, and stupidity compounded it. We see the cumulative results here!!

  • And I'm sure he got properly bitch slapped for it.

  • "Appropriately bitch slapped" or not, we see a pattern of wreckless conduct. Look, Jake, the pilot (I'm really starting to think it WAS you!!) had already been forced down due to a "fuel starvation emergency"; in other words, he (you??) mismanaged the fuel supply.

What did he learn from this?? We see the results right before us.

Premiums are high enough without this type of foolishness.

Do you advocate letting him fly until he kills someone??

  • That secondary accident could have been brought about by stress. In which case his mistake was not rudder misapplication but rather continuing that flight in the first place. Who knows how much the cops were screaming at him or how much adrenaline was going there. He probably wouldn't have had that collision on any other day.

I just don't see why you wouldn't go for, oh, a 5 year suspension before lifetime. Pilots kill people in accidents and are later reinstated.

    Flying has risks.

  • JakeHarvey;

That secondary accident could have been brought about by stress.

Had someone been killed, would it really matter if the pilot was "stressed"?? If a pilot can't handle "stress", then he needs to take up Yoga instead of flying.

Almost 800 hours under his belt, and he can't manage a fuel supply, drop flaps 10, or check clearances before take-off??

Sorry, the stakes are too high.

  • Here's a solution - don't let anyone fly. The stakes are too high.

Or if you are so worried about insurance rates, then maybe insurance companies shouldn't pay out for anything but engine failures and gear failures. Everything else is inexcusable and should be out of pocket, right?

You obviously think you're one of the greatest pilots in the world, and you very well might be. I still wonder if you don't have a dangerous ignorance of your own humanity.

This is moot. FAA doesn't agree with you.

  • Jakeharvey Wrote:

You obviously think you're one of the greatest pilots in the world, and you very well might be. I still wonder if you don't have a dangerous ignorance of your own humanity.

Jake, your position here is asinine. Lets the safe, disciplined pilots fly, and let the careless ones fly kites.

If I had a "dangerous ignorance of my own humanity", I'd be like this joker in the vid, or I'd be making excuses, as you are doing.

14,000+ safe hours doesn't come through "ignorance".

  • @umahuma4

The fuel gauge is only used to identify an empty fuel tank, it's not for determining how much fuel is available. You use math to figure that out. 10 degrees of flaps is recommended for short-field takoff. Maybe he wasn't attempting a SF takeoff.

  • The whole situation could have been avoided if he had checked his fuel indicators.

    He ran out of gas.

And then he made a move that was even less intelligent as the one before it, and hit the fuel truck. Nice.

  • Plus, before he hit the fuel truck, he clipped the mirror of the 18 wheeler.

  • ... how about completely clearing the road first? take an extra 10 minutes of time? "No man, I got this it's fine" woops!

  • flaps at 40 please

  • WHAT AN IDIOT!

  • He tried to take off with zero flaps too...

  • so?

I take off wiht 0 flaps.

The pilot is stupid, take off on the road...

  • So?

I take off on 'roads' too. But if you want to minimise your time on it, it may help to use some flaps, and avoiding cars of course...

  • problem here isnt the small runway..

    Well whatever

  • what kind of stupid morons co-ordinate a takeoff with a stupid truck still on the road where the plane's taking off from ??!?!

  • that's going to be expensive to fix

  • Chooooooooooooo Stuppppppppppppppppppppid

  • Something like that happened near where I live, only the plane didnt crash. The Cessna had to make an emergency landing and it landed on the street and nearly took down some power lines. They towed it into the airport and took down the fence and the pilot flew out the Cessna that next day

  • If you look closely you can see the wingtip hit the mirror of the large truck before the major impact with the small truck.

  • You´re right.

  • listen to the commentary, the truck that got hit, brought the fuel to the plane.

  • He tried to takeoff again???? WHY

  • 6 inches to the left and hed of made it

  • Reminds me of when I played Grand Theft Autn San Andreas and I try to takeoff in the Cessna 152 from a busy street, hitting cars, street lights, etc.

  • hahaha true lol i know

  • How does this remind you of GTA? that game is in no way realistic.

  • San Andreas is semi realistic. The planes have better phisycs and there is wind, too.

And you can land on roads and takeoff from them too. Just gotta use the rudder to avoid clipping poles & cars.

  • that's a centurion

  • reply still aint working

  • oye the reply button not working

  • LMAO!!! The Irony! Who would have thought?!?!?!

  • he hit the semis mirrior too

  • could only happen in america, he probably had another go with 1 wing hanging off!!!

  • why the hell was he taking off a street? and why didnt he think before hitting the fukcing truck! lol

  • Hey man give him a break! He just made an emergency landing and he most likley had the aircraft re-fueled and since it was a highway he had more than enough room to take-off. My question is why the fuck didn't the truck get out of the way. But I agree with you... he should have made sure everything is clear. I bet he was screaming FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey dick head he was clearly taking off!!!!

  • according to the FAA you cant take off streets dumb ass! you would most likely get a truck and tow it! you dont take off a street! jesus learn about aviation would ya

  • immature much? jesus christ.... did you have ur volume turned up... listen to what the reporter was saying... do you even have ur license? or are you just another one of those flight sim fuckers?

  • read carefully "about the video" in the right upper corner you will see. dumb ass...

  • Why would anyone not clear the road competely.

    Pilot and surrounding persons responsible.

  • Makes you wonder how he ever logged 794 hours to begin with.

  • That looks like an automatic REVOKE

  • he is just retarded

  • even if he cleared the truck, he may have wanted to put in some flaps eh? haha

  • irresponsible, keep your car, let planes for pilots.

  • what a dumb ass.

  • the officer tripped when he got out of his cruiser lol

  • what a dumb ass pilot. Don't blame the cops. He's PIC. run out of gas, then try that stupid take off. Some people are just meant to stay on the ground.

  • 100% right, he was PIC.

  • this is the most stupit accident that i was see

  • u try to do that ur not even a pilot

  • Wow, outlaw is quite correct, it was his first mistake to let the tanks run dry. Then to save money, or possibly due to impatience, and the unwillingess to deal with getting the plane deisassembled and put onto a truck--he took another risk, and a really dumb one at that.

  • stupid fucker! Guess he was too stupid to check the clearance!

  • How dumb can you get??

  • Almost 800 hours under his belt, and now this??

First of all, there is no excuse for flying until the tanks were dry. That in itself was an act of unadultersted stupidity.

Then, this fool doesn't even bother to make sure that he's clear of the obstacles??

I wouldn't trust this clown to fly a kite!!

  • shoulda Driven the plane to a airport.. Take off from that road.. the town would have to be on fire for me to risk that.

  • News reporters are so fucking stupid with their ignorant uneducated commentary. The "fuel truck" is a Fire Dept. Rescue squad, the plane hit the mirror on the side of the 18 wheeler first causing it to collide into back of the Rescue Unit. Not the truck drivers fault. It is not everyday you have to pull over and park on a public thoroughfare because a plane landed on it, instead of the airport due to forgetting to put fuel in it, or keeping track of it in flight. Moron pilot for sure!

  • stupid truck driver.

  • mite aswell hav taken off on a motorway

  • morons

  • This is really funny!

  • LOL

  • WTF? This is stupid

  • HAHAHA a bunch or morons!

  • How does one manage to screw that up?! How hard is it to move damn vehicles off the road and for the PIC to make sure they have room?

  • It touches the first truck and turns to the right hand side... After that, he tries to go left, but hits the other truck...

  • You know that is the sort of thing Rosie O'Dumbell does on TV daily..

  • Rural America for sure

  • What's 'Rural America' have to do with a stupid pilot, making a stupid series of mistakes? Are you saying that 'only' Rural America has stupid people? If you are, then you just proved my point . . . Morons are EVERYWHERE!

  • In a Big city, the police would have never allowed such a stunt, and if they did, they would have at least cleared the "runway" of obstacles...Small town, small minds...
