With all honesty, there is no point in saying one is better than the other (whether it is "Gwyneth's version better than Adele's" or vice versa), because in the end it is all just opinion that cannot be supported by any facts. You can say your preference, that's perfectly fine; for example, I prefer Adele's original because her voice, in my opinion, bring strong potential, while Gwyneth's (even though she undoubtly has a great voice) leaves me wanting for more. But it's just my opinion.

If MOST Americans don't want other musical acts to be successful, she wouldn't be topping the U.S. charts (if the majority of Americans don't want them to be successful, they wouldn't be requesting them on the radio, which would make them lower on the charts, etc). It'd be more apt to say the people who prefer this version to Adele's are likely to be Glee or Gwyneth fans.

There are different things I like better about both the original version and this version. But I do like when they sing songs on Glee that you always get a better understanding of the song because they pronounce the lyrics much more clearly than the original artist often does.
