Very cool dude. Took lessons from Jesse at Star music on 15th street in Allentown. He used to jam with a band called the Stand at Second Ave in Bethlehem. Still have my notebook full of scales by Jesse. Rock on guy:)
Hear and experience more of Jesse Gress's musical virtuosity at the Todd Rundgren Musical Survival Camp, June 20-24, 2011. (Search engine topic) Jesse joinsTodd Rundgren, Kaz Sulton, Greg Hawkes and key musical, promotional, design specialists with TR FANS for a four-day, all-inclusive, inter-disciplinary music survival camp.
It's a rare guitar, that Babicz Octane. I've got one in blue w/2 humbuckers (pearly gates and seth lover). It's also got a piezo which gives the ability to play acoustic (from maple to mahogany tones!). I sure wish they would've plugged in Jesse's. I guess I'll have to find a way to cut a video to show this collectible!
I was friends with Jesse about 35 years ago back in our hometown, and it's great to see how successful he became. Looking forward to catching his act in Milwaukee later this month.
I saw this guy with TR last year, and I was impressed. Reminds me of Steve Howe a little... He was using the Octane for alot of songs and it sounded great, not sure what kinda amp he was going through. I bought one of their acoustics last year from music123, and had a question about the neck joint... I called their (Babicz) offices and one of the Jeff's actually got on the phone to explain it to me...Not sure if it was Babicz or the other guy, but they were cool...
"Jesse is one of the truly 'Unsung Heroes' of the guitar world. No wonder Todd always uses him....not to mention Tony Levin! I've been reading all the reviews on this Babicz Octane.....it looks like its going to be the next standard in guitars"
