Modest mouse and lupe are both good artists and I'm sure that modest mouse doesn't care that lupe used a similar chorus to "float on". Sampling beats and music from other artists to put in other artists songs has been goin on for a while so don't hate on lupe

I think this is a great original song. To me it sounds nothing like Float On by Modest Mouse. As someone else stated, the two songs are not even in the same genre, none of the lyrics are the same, and the rhythms sound nothing alike. And for anyone how disagrees, they should just keep their comments to themselves.

Lupe fiasco wanted to release this cd for couple years know, but Modest Mouse released their cd in 2004.

@mczaks you need to do your research. you don't even know what band he copied...it's Modest Mouse. the song Float On was on the album Good News for People who Love Bad News, which came out in the spring of 2004. Yes he stole the music from that song. I don't care if you want to call it sampling it's still taking someone else's work, speeding it up, and then adding an extra beat. It annoys me that these artists can't come up with their own beats anymore. this song is catchy but it's not original.

@penguinballs Then you must have a problem with the whole industry. Everyone samples & covers each others music. There's nothing new under the sun anymore buddy so sampling becomes necessary. Example: most of the music you listen to have the same exact chords, guaranteed. All your fave artists are thieves then 'cause they "stole" somebody's chords. If everyone followed your type of logic we wouldn't have any of the music we have now. Lupe had PERMISSION from MM so he stole NOTHING. Get over it.
