a stop lurker is when you control your lurker for them not to attack . When the enemy is more engaged, you can make them attack very efficiently (he didn't know)
You get a lurker, burrow it, and target a opponent's building that is out of range. What happens is that the Lurker can't attack it and it just stands burrowed without attacking close units that are in range.
How to use that?
Once a large pack of units comes close, you unstop them, basically select them and attack the units that are in range. This produces DEVASTATING attacks on clumped low HP units, like marines, zerglings, hydras, zealots etc..
to be more specific you can select the lurkers with a unit that can hold then hit hold. you can spam s. you can also right click on a far away enemey building. all those was create stop lurkers.
Man, GGplay was just beat down near the end there but still the game was fantastic. I really liked the trade off Plagues and the constant presence of air power in this fight, very cool.
I felt Yellow made the smarter decisions throughout the whole game. His economic advantage allowed him to contain GGplay. The unit "cap" hurt both players because they were both cautious about switching to ground units because they could be temporarily vulnerable. Yellow did a good job of baiting the mutas and then plaguing them, which is what I thought he was going for with that first plague. GG's made some life saving plagues but mainly when defending which is easier to do. Fun to watch.
the most convincing explanations i've heard about this are:
they (particularly the girls) like playing "cute" and/or "shy" so they cover up their faces; and that apparently some people skip school sometimes to go to games so they cover their faces to not be seen. lol
gg, it was actually very similar to the foreigner game, though i think the other was more interesting, though that may just be because i saw it first and so now i'd already seen a lot of what happened in this game.
this game was epic, thanks for brining it to the US cholera. Crazy unit combos from both players, with a standoffish type game that I'd more likely see in TvT.
Excellent game, thanks again for doing this particular one that I've wanted to see for so long.
---spoilers---
YellOw is such an excellent player, turned an early mutalisk deficit into an eventual advantage with great economic/defensive play, and getting the right tech at the right time.
Spawn Broodlings = solution to enemy defilers/ultralisks. It's too bad he only used the Queens for parasite and an ensnare, possibly the least useful spell in the game.
Overall, I'd say this game wasn't as exciting as the other epic ZvZ. Still largely by-the-books.
If it weren't for the fact that it shoes a green box around the unit with parasite, the parasite spell would be extremely useful for tracking the other army.
Seems like long ZvZ it's still best for mostly Mutalisk instead of Ultralisk or Hydralisk
Great game overall, wouldn't have happened if Yellow hadn't gone Spores instead of Mutalisk.
I cannot call 20 minutes of flying around with plagued mutalisks epic...

Someone remind me what stopped lurkers are...
ChocolateMilk831 3 years ago
You can hit hold ground, or stop, Tasteless saying hold ground, Cholera says stop, and they wont attack, even though they are buried.

I really like your commentaries Cholera :P
I didn't like this game though, wasn't epic, imo. The other zvz was far more entertaining and fun in general.

At 10:25 when the audience is filmed some people are covering their faces.
Is there any special (cultural?) reason they do this?

Hey Cholera, how bout you dig around for some TvZ reps with Nukes on Zerg. Can't go wrong with that!

It would of been an excellent combination to plague the clumped muta and then follow up with queen ensnare in order to be able to chase them down.
Wonder why this wasn't used.

Yes and a few borrowed Hydras everywhere to take out while they're retreating !

I think the main reason this ZvZ went on for so long is because of the map with the small ramp and island expos
