Cheers Gary Mac...I remember watching the championships in 88 and thet probably go down as one of my top sporting memories.Beating the english, Whelans goal and just watching your own country play on the same pitch as that brilliant Dutch side...priceless.If your ever passing through ireland and your in a spot of bother just shout shout your name.You'll be sorted.Go raibh mile maith agat Gary

One of the most unhappy moments in my life. I was 7 years old and I cried the whole night (I'm bulgarian by the way) We needed draw to qualify Euro 88 but lost 1-0 from Scotland and the goal fell on the 87th minute. The Scots were playing for nothing but Ireland qualified due to their victory :(

Anyway the god was generousl towards us and 6 years later gave our team a chance to win against France the same manner so we qualified to the WC 94 instead of them and became 4th there!

Scotland are at their best when there's nothing to play for, or face a nearly impossible task (e.g. Holland 3-2 1978 WC, England 1-0 @Wembley 1999 EC Qualifier, Bulgaria 1-0 EC Qualifier 1987).

Bulgaria had not lost at home for five years before this game.
