@enine2007 DUDE... The RX7 can produce massive amounts of torque with minor upgrades and porting... actually the rotary, when ported is the most torque powered engine on the japanese market. it also needs way less due to its light weight.

Good condition is a relative term. There are deals out there but for the most part FDs that are below 10k are priced low for a reason. For instance I would'nt let my FD go for less than 20K USD.

@vpsshore I'm assuming he's on STREET TIRES....you dont need to do a burnout with those like you do with a drag radial or slick. Most of the time it's just a quick little burnout to remove any trash/dust/dirt that might be on them. You actually lose traction by doing a burnout on street tires.

@enine2007 my RX7 is NA. only mods is exhaust with high cat and air intake. 14s flat. its also 1986. i say its pretty impressive for a 1.3L engine that doesn't cost much to work with... have fun with that over weight project. most of the LS1 swaps fail. they are designed to push heavier cars around. they tend to spin all day in a 7. and have a huge fail rate. not to mention. they don't produce much power in comparison. good luck with your make believe and your neon.

@elpidiovaldez4ever because in order for the mustang to do that, you have to change parts in it; while in the RX7 all you have to do is raise the boost and adjust the CPU. The engine is actually designed to pump more power but because of the law in Japan they cannot surpass 280; while the mustang is only designed to do what it does; Unless you change parts in it. I got nothing against mustangs but I drove it and in comparisson the car is way to heavy and the handling is a joke; tracktion also.
@elpidiovaldez4ever I mean I drive a 07 STI; very lightly moded; spent maybe like a grand and a half on mods and with a chip and the straight pipes I could kill the new 5.0's. My engine with just those mods puts out 390HP and its 4 banger; only chip, boost adjustment, and straight pipes. You can straight pipe and chip a mustang but the HP gain won't be the same cause its not a turbo engine like mine. but it don't matter cause its all about the turns and I got that light car with 4WD
@Harutmakina 390 at the crank maybe for stage 2. Still, 390 crank (~300 wheel) will not beat a 5.0 in the 1/4. It would be close to the same but id bet the 5.0 would still beat you.
@MTD369 the mustang has a longer gear ratio though and it tops out better; but on the QM I lite him up; I mean think about it; My car 390HP 3100lbs AWD perfect launch; 5.0 3600lbs 414HP Rear drive; that 24HP is not enough to make up for the Extra 500lbs in weight and the fact that its a rear drive the guy was still burning out while I was long gone. but the mustang would have caught me after the quarter mile; my car only tops out at 150
@Harutmakina its not that big of a difference, 2005 sti is 3,260lbs and mustang is 3,600 like you said. Thats a difference of 340lbs.
Then you have to factor in the drivetrain loss of power. There is a lot more power loss for AWD compared to RWD. You lose about 15% power for RWD and 25 for AWD stis (they say 305hp crank, and you get 230-240whp).
I own an 05sti, and im not denying its a fast car, but stage 2 will get you into mid-high 12s in the 1/4. Mustang 5.0 will run mid 12s
@Harutmakina and then there is traction off the line, yeah the STI is way easier to launch, but assuming perfect launch on both cars, mustang will likely win.
@rotor13 they arent that hard to launch. I've only launched STis (i own an 05). Took 2 or 3 tries but its just blipping it at the right rpm and letting off hte clutch quickly (not side stepping), and there is no issues with traction at all.

I have a Z06, I will race any stock RX-7 on the face of this earth and hand your ass to you. This was a bone stock Z06 with the exhaust fuse removed and a RX-7 with over 15,000 under the hood. Cmon people, not only do rotaries last about 30,000 miles, they get SHIT gas mileage, sound like shit, and have no torque at all.. Second- try more like 8K to beat a Z06 not 15k.
Third- Rotaries last a hell of lot longer than 30K miles.
Fourth- I get 24 mpg with my 400 RWHP FD.
Fifth- Torque is a function of force over distance, HP is a function of time. HP wins races.

But people who has canadian rx7s around here are selling theirs for 6-9K because of the condition.100K+ KMS... they salt every road pretty much around me so theyre not the greatest underneath.
I do think I over-paid for mine but I dont complain. After driving it, I dont really care how much it cost.

@enine2007 my RX7 is NA. only mods is exhaust with high cat and air intake. 14s flat. its also 1986. i say its pretty impressive for a 1.3L engine that doesn't cost much to work with... have fun with that over weight project. most of the LS1 swaps fail. they are designed to push heavier cars around. they tend to spin all day in a 7. and have a huge fail rate. not to mention. they don't produce much power in comparison. good luck with your make believe and your neon.

@elpidiovaldez4ever because in order for the mustang to do that, you have to change parts in it; while in the RX7 all you have to do is raise the boost and adjust the CPU. The engine is actually designed to pump more power but because of the law in Japan they cannot surpass 280; while the mustang is only designed to do what it does; Unless you change parts in it. I got nothing against mustangs but I drove it and in comparisson the car is way to heavy and the handling is a joke; tracktion also.

@elpidiovaldez4ever I mean I drive a 07 STI; very lightly moded; spent maybe like a grand and a half on mods and with a chip and the straight pipes I could kill the new 5.0's. My engine with just those mods puts out 390HP and its 4 banger; only chip, boost adjustment, and straight pipes. You can straight pipe and chip a mustang but the HP gain won't be the same cause its not a turbo engine like mine. but it don't matter cause its all about the turns and I got that light car with 4WD

@Harutmakina 390 at the crank maybe for stage 2. Still, 390 crank (~300 wheel) will not beat a 5.0 in the 1/4. It would be close to the same but id bet the 5.0 would still beat you.

@MTD369 the mustang has a longer gear ratio though and it tops out better; but on the QM I lite him up; I mean think about it; My car 390HP 3100lbs AWD perfect launch; 5.0 3600lbs 414HP Rear drive; that 24HP is not enough to make up for the Extra 500lbs in weight and the fact that its a rear drive the guy was still burning out while I was long gone. but the mustang would have caught me after the quarter mile; my car only tops out at 150

@Harutmakina its not that big of a difference, 2005 sti is 3,260lbs and mustang is 3,600 like you said. Thats a difference of 340lbs.
Then you have to factor in the drivetrain loss of power. There is a lot more power loss for AWD compared to RWD. You lose about 15% power for RWD and 25 for AWD stis (they say 305hp crank, and you get 230-240whp).
I own an 05sti, and im not denying its a fast car, but stage 2 will get you into mid-high 12s in the 1/4. Mustang 5.0 will run mid 12s

they are the hardest to launch because you will bog the launch, unless you know how to slip the clutch.

@rotor13 they arent that hard to launch. I've only launched STis (i own an 05). Took 2 or 3 tries but its just blipping it at the right rpm and letting off hte clutch quickly (not side stepping), and there is no issues with traction at all.

@prisonbreak7760 Theyre both sick cars arent they? I can make a golf cart go fast if i want to but that was a good race and rx7s are a nice car. Dont be dissin vettes though there sick cars and for the money its hella fast. I personnaly would only take a z06 over an rx7 because i have 25 grand to blow and would rather have a fast car with resell value instead of dump 15 grand in rx7 and own a big money pit. :/

@Stryke988 They still make Corvettes, they don't make RX-7's you should look up the resale prices before guessing, it's about 12 grand for a shell thats with no motor, and about 25 grand for one with a motor. That is the FD's anyways.

I mean you can trick out the vette engine to a certain extent too but no more than you can trick out the 1.3 rotary; plus the RX-7 is lighter and looks much better; better handling to :). I always loved the FDs

fds that where lhd came from canada or parts of europe and had a 13b rev single turbo somehd a 2 twin turbo set up on the high send modles and was offerd as an option but almost all fd that have a twin turbo are Right Hndd Drive from japan that have a 3 rotor twin turbo swap from a cosmo never offed as stcok any where but japan anybody that has a twin turbo fd 3 rotor didnt import it like that to the usa cause u cant its not legal and cant be insured

@ridox000supra c what u fail to understand is when ur turbo boosts at 35-50 psi regularly and not blow the motor u are capibly of running 800 whp easy and that is a fact most guys run like 25 pis max on
