  • Thank you all for your very kind words...the car is now 3 years on the road and I haven't had a single issue with the running, it just gets better and better each time i drive it. About to go dizzyless and run it on a SC Typhoon ignition system which on paper should give a little more power and a much smoother performance so can't wait to get it all fitted.

  • dude thats awesome :D

  • so i dont know that much persons who could help me out here. with my saving i am planing to go to Germany and get a mini, where cars are really cheap, but the fact is that i really dont know what to buy and have many questions that i would like know before get my pefect mini. PLEASE help out

  • Looking your work and experience with minis, i realise, you are the best person i can trust, for this, "my dream". so i need some advise to get started on this wonderfull world of minis, in the safety, economy and best way possible. I am living in Finland, but i am from a caribean country,

  • Hii Oz. i am a fanatic of classic mini, i have been dreaming to buy one since 5 years ago, I have never own a car, so i am REALLY excited about this, MY VERY FIRST CAR, and oohh yes is gonna be a classic mini. I have been planing, reading forums, searching in internet, i have tons of photos how i want that looks like, but i dont know anything about mecanic at all. After hard work i have get some money save, I AM READY OF IT. . Reading the mini magazine and surfing in the web i got to know you.

  • WHoA! Thats lovely!

  • I'm doin my 998 up as a cooper s eater, always wondered wether a supercharger would be ok on my lump or wether standard gearbox wouldn't take it?

  • that is beautiful.

  • nice mini oz, saw it in the mag. stunning, you should be proud!

  • Yo Oz, don't listen to shemale, he's a twat. You obviously have respect for vintage machinery and you have modified this classic in the timeless tradition without compromising performance, style or period correctness. Good on ya boy, keep it up!

  • my last post sounds like im dissing you and im not at all you have done a fantastic job your car is another one in the eye for new mini gits(sell outs)

having owned/rebuilt 7 MINIS 3 saloons 2 clubs 1 van 1pick up i like to think i know the mini but these bmw things just seem point less to me

a bmw 1 series in drag that looks like a mini if you squint! no thanks classic every time.

    FULL MARKS 10/10

  • The car is 100% BMW free! it's not a BMW blower as already stated! As far as I am concerned if it's a classic Mini it has to have a classic A Series engine.I built the car for me and it's what it is.

  • @Oz1275

is that blower custom made for a series it looks like 1 big casting that bolts to head?

  • @Oz1275 Agree Classic Mini has to have the good old A Series and what a lump it is. But we love it :)

  • 'New' MINI is not a "1 Series in drag". Not even close. The body, mechanicals and electrical systems are totally different. 1 Series is RWD for a start - totally different drivetrain, suspension etc.

  • listen boys the late great dave vizard was boring and stroking the 1275/1293 up to 1600 cc and then adding a shorrock 30 years a go nothing new

the a series engine is now 70 years old my advice rip it out there are loads of more powerfull/easier to tune units that fit and dont say proper engine if its modified what lump is in it is nither here or there as long as its safe/reliable gorgeous engine bay nice job xx

  • David Vizard is not dead. A December 1st 2009 press release confirms he is booked for several appearances in NZ during March 2010.

  • Can that engine hold up to the pressure of a supercharger? Thanks Jerry

  • yeah no problems so far...coming up to 3,000 miles on the clock now and the engine hasn't missed a beat ;) see my other video of it in action lovely stuff

  • @detroitbluesguy Yes one thing that does worry me. You cannot dump a supercharger in without getting the rest upgraded to deal with the extra power. Also if you have SPi/Mpi then you have the dreaded ECU to re-configure. Much easier to do with Carbs.

  • @detroitbluesguy

Yes it can hold up to the extra BHP and tourque it now produces the engine has a billet crank and arrow con rods as well as a serious bottom end straight cut C/R box with an LSD very strong the secret is all in thee balancing on the engine internals. The CR was dropped to 8:1 so I can run at higher boost there is also a release valve on the inlet manifold to get rid of and unused boost (bit like a blow off valve on a turbo) so it doesn't suffer from head gasket problem :)

  • I just wish my engine was that CLEAN !

  • wow a 6 page feature.. very nice.. our entire miniclub made a 6 page feature in their a few years back...

I have a 1330 Clubman and was thinking of VTECing it but this looks sweet... awesome power and probably alot cheaper and easier...

what mods did you have to make to the inlet?

  • No mod's to the inlet at all this is an off the shelf MG Midget kit! NOT a BMW mini charger bye the way :) I cut the bulkhead out to fit this kit. The only other mod was a smaller pulley to get a bit more boost running at just under 9psi instead of 5psi

This is now my daily driver lol

  • oh sweet.... that is definatly sounding alot more simple than a VTEC.

roughly how much did it cost you for the supercharger kit and pulleys.. had a look online and they seem rather pricey but worth it id imagine

  • hi, i seen your car in the MiniWorld mag too (i'm in Australia so it took awhile :) , I WANT one :) I've given myself 1 year to earn the cash, but i cant decide if i should buy a minitec kit and build it in Australia (where classic mini's arent that common ) or get a mate in the UK to buy a newer one and take it to a workshop like MiniSpeed or something and get similar job to what your've done. Then import (Aus $3000 :( )

  • Hey man, saw your car in the mag, looks awesome. Was wondering what spark plugs you are using? I've got a very similar setup but have been having a few problems.

  • BPR8EVX ngk ;)

  • oh man just read the review of this car its so cool. i love it to bits, although i love my mini way to much, will be putting my new engine in soon, wont be as fats as this though

  • how much would that all cost?

  • Too much lol

  • that must be seriously rapido

  • This car will be in Aprils copy of Mini World mag...cover car and 6 page feature...ooooo

  • 188? is that horse power

  • yeah 188BHP @ the flywheel 156BHP @ the wheels

its a bit of a handfull to drive in the wet lol

  • THAT IS ACE!!

  • The Blower is a 4th Gen MP45 Not a BMW Mini one!! Bulk head was modified to fit this particular unit on my car as it was the prototype one to see if it would fit and how much power it would give...Its running at 188 at the flywheel at present and I am looking at a kit that will fit straight on a classic mini with no cutting the bulk head! Thanks for your coments and interest guys I will post some new vid clips up soon so you can see it in action!

  • yeah i wanna know too! What kind of s/c did you get and was it just a case of bolting the sucker on or did you have to do some mini tetris with that engine bay?

  • Wot kind of supercharger did you use and woz der much major mechanical work involved??

  • You absolutely must post a vid of this on the dyno & on the street!

  • Sorry about the Craid David on the radio...

    OOPs

  • Cant wait to see it go!

  • sounds like it can shift.....

btw i've removed my heater too ;)

  • MAN, thats awesome.... Must fly....

  • My old 850 used to sound like that.

    It was red as well.
