  • better they sound like Joy Division than a Jonas brother band...

  • i will listen to this song the rest of my life

  • their a good band but this is far from a good performance they sound good but a live show should be more than that

  • Both albums are amazing, yet both completely different. I wonder what the new one is gonna sound like? Could they be the new cure? First album starts to be punk then the next few albums become post punk.

  • i have since drastically changed my mind the horrors are one of the best bands eva the only bit i don't think much of is faris' shirt oh and the volume

  • Sheldon Cooper is playing the synths

  • i love this song but it is shit live i don't like much by the horrors but i like sea within a sea so i dunno whether i really like them or not

  • This band makes my head spin...

First time I heard them I thought they were shit (that was live, btw)

    Second time ''kind of interesting''

Third time ''okay I'll listen to it a bit more''

    Got the idea by now?

  • 3:58 strangely reminds me of goldfrapp "ooh la la". weird.

  • El final no tiene madre.......

    Es un exorcismo purificador...

    Grandes ::::::

  • very chilly.

but now I prefer their first album, Strange House.

  • That looks like the best concert ever.

No screaming, No yelling, No moshing, You could actually hear the band, See the band, Everyone is just standing and chilling around mesmerized watching them play.<3

  • i love rhys on the guitar, mehe

  • I love Faris mistake!! it's so cute ahahah

  • is he looping his vocal cos it sounds like Deerhunter this track.theyre out of time .or theyve done a different vrsion than lp

  • me encanta en final, increíble

  • @camu789 lo mismo... ese final me mata! :D

  • Amazing.

  • Where the hell is this??? the audience is awful!!!!! I'd have kill to be there!!!!!!!

  • I love the horrors!!!!!!!

    They fucking rawkk!!

  • i think you can hear my bloody valentine and the jesus and mary chain in their album much more than joy division. also, dont get me wrong here i do love bernard sumner, but when did you ever hear him play guitar like that. josh's guitar sound is completely kevin shields inspired.

  • いいね!

  • Me gusta mucho

  • I FUCKING LOVE THE HORRORS

  • can't even believe how good they sound live...This and Scarlett Fields are two of my favorite songs of all time...Like in my top 20.

  • Where was this filmed? Because if it was at The Magic Stick, I was totally there! :D

  • oie amis k chido video

    aaaaaaaaaa

    super

    cool

    ta bien

    aaaaaa

  • People shouldn't be saying 'this band sounds like that band' at all. Every piece of music you listen to influences you, even if you don't like it, it will still steer you in some direction. I'm sure joy division have influenced the horrors but instead of dismissing the sound as similar you should try to find a similarity in the feel.

I mean, oasis sound like the beatles but they don't feel like the beatles. In the same way the horrors dont sound like joy division but feel like joy division.

  • @kingcroak hang on a minute, didn't josh say that in one of their interviews?

  • @IDigMyGraveTheSaga14

I paraphrased it but yes. It's a good philosophy and whether I said it or Josh said it doesn't make it any less truthful. The fact I can't say it any better is why I said it in the first place. :P

  • @kingcroak yeah I get that i was just wondering if it was him that had said it cos I thought I'd heard it somewhere before :)

  • i love how Faris just jumps off stage and comes back a little later.(:

  • Amazing song, for me one of the best of 2009

  • Comment removed

  • loving faris's jumper :) and also can i just say that this whole Horros v. Joy Division thing is really pointless?

  • IT SOUNDS LIKE THE HORRORS!!!!!!

  • This song a rip off of hallogallo by Neu, i do love the horrors though, one of my fave bands of the year.

  • @breackroadsweeper what coz its 9 mins and sounds slighlty similiar.

  • drums and vocals and keyboards and bass and that invisible guitars are quite perfect. like early-early in the morning you're looking through the window breathing fresh dawn air and having a coffee and a cigarette.

  • i like that shirt/knitwear that faris is wearing

  • joy division :)

  • I'm just curious, how much Joy Division have you listened to? Where's the resemblance? To me it sounds melodically much more like a simplistic take on The Smiths and Suede, with some MBV/J&MC textural guitar and the obvious Neu! influence. Illuminate me. I grew up on Joy Division, and I can't find one direct similarity.

  • your just curious? I probably haven't listened to joy division as long as you have but i actually have an original version of unknown pleasures on vinyl for one thing. I agree the mbv style guitar and others are also seemingly directly influential which i find is a great combination. Personally I can understand that you find no direct resemblance, they just remind me of joy division through peter hook style basslines, and the single stiringed high distorted guitar riffs at times, generalthings

  • Sorry, I don't mean to seem rude/pedantic, it's just that this JD thing crops up a lot lately and the comparisons seem to be getting less and less pertinent. As someone who grew up in an era when very few people seemed to know anything about JD beyond 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' it's strange to suddenly hear the name thrown around so often. But thanks for the reply.

  • JD are one of my favourite bands of all time and although i totally agree that there have been too many comparisons lately, i do agree that this does have some similarities with joy division. also there are some similarities (more with other songs on this album) to the cure at the time of disentegration/ pornography

  • @rottenenglish i dont think the baqss is like peter hook at all.

  • @heathshoegaze hey man your right i may have been a little off on that one for this song but some of their songs have very peter hook like bass lines. But whatever its all good i really like the simple octave alternating bassline in this song :DD

  • @rottenenglish mhmmm im not sure maybe with a couple of the songs theres some peter hook elements, but like the horrors said they arent infuenced by joy division as much as they are buy bands that influenced joy division like neu! and others. i wonder if the horrors like the velvet underground

  • amazing

  • shoegazeron no?

  • worst crowd ever.

  • best band nowadays

    crappiest crowd ever

  • I LOVE IT,

  • wow. this is really really good. better than anything black rebel or any of those mary chain wanna be groups ever did. vocals reminds me a bit of marc almond singing 'she's a secretary in the daytime...

she's got the facilities.. she's got the abilities.." great sound and segues in the song, great presence. amazing. amazing guitar people.

  • what is the name of the instrument that is producing the drone noise in the song? is it a noise obx generator? and what brand, etc.?

  • I think the sound you are referring to is just from the bass guitar.

  • no, not spider webb. tim, the guy whos playing the synth (with the short haricut). whats the name of that synth machine he's using?

  • It's some sort of Analogue Modular Synth, making oscillations. Tom uses a Moog Voyager amongst many other things. Read up on Analogue and Modular synthesizers, and listen to some demos, you'll get the general idea very quickly.

  • minimoog maybe? idk

  • no,

    its the Moog Voyager.

but it is the next generation minimoog :)

  • @electriceyeonme The bass guitar, or the synthesizer.

  • @electriceyeonme smart ass, that sound is most defiantly not coming from the bass guitar.

  • @Cosmopolitan171 a lot of their newer songs from this album have a lot of sounds saved on pads or samplers

  • @Cosmopolitan171 there's a lot of synth type stuff happening. but the guitarist uses lots of reverb/delay over whammy bar usage. which makes droning sounds

  • @Cosmopolitan171 yeah the droning sound is guitar with a lot of shoegaze type stuff.

  • @Cosmopolitan171 no the keyboard player is using a theremin

  • @Cosmopolitan171 that is his keyboard

  • verdaderamente psicodelico e hipnotizante

  • joshua's guitar sounds like a violin towards the end, i love it!

  • I love how Rhys is dancing all the time

  • its sounds so much like the band neu at the begginning with the bassline and drum beat and wierd guitar

  • wrong lyrics uhuhuh

  • F**k the crowd, who cares man? Maybe they are just cool. If you were in the crowd when Joy Division performed on "Something Else" were you "cool" or "wank"?

The lad on keyboards is the bastard child of Dave Formula - I love these guys! Maybe they are the antidote to Coldplay, Keane, Snow Patrol and all those other dreary, tired old cocks we have all been waiting for?

  • <3<3<3

  • What a wank crowd...

When I saw them in Brighton, it was mental.

  • hmmmm I Alaways ask myself who to react to music like that cause i think that to a banda in my point of view they feel bad if the audience is not euforic i wouuld dance in a strange jeje

  • were was this gig? :)

  • Really sorry to do this heathshoegaze but: Anymore.... lol

  • STRANGE HOUSE!!!!!!!!

  • rhys just cant keep stil can he, he has to dance. aww i love him. i love them all t0 be fair :) legends!

  • This is amazing live

    so nice

  • sweet...man the synth sounds are so good! moog!

  • Josh is using a totaly different guitar. He specialised the Fender Jag.

  • He still uses it in some of the more screechy songs but he uses a hollow body guitar now for the more shoegazer style 'wall-of-sound' effect. I'm not able to tell the make of the guitar though, I can't get a good look, sadly.

  • Yeah, it's been bugging me, I can't tell if it's some Epiphone, Gibson, or Grestch model. I know he also uses a Fender Jazzmaster as well. His choice of guitars are so unique, personally I like the look of the Fender Jag, but the new album sounds amazing, so I guess it's not really a big deal what guitar he uses now.

  • its an ibanez

  • not enymore, he uses the ibanez just as much now, also he plays a jazzmaster on a few tracks

  • Ah, I thought I recognised the headstock. I couldn't find the model number though.

  • it's a Ibanez Artcore single cutaway

  • isn't that "jazzmaster" a white fender 62 jaguar ?

  • he has three. the white fender, a cherry red jazzmaster that he uses on tracks like mirrors image and three decades for that swirly guitar sound, and of course the red ibanez

  • Comment removed

  • if u dont believe me look for live versians of mirrors iamge or three decades

  • Comment removed

  • you were right about the jazzmaster.i'm sorry.the effects he crafted still puzzle me tough

  • nah dw bout it mate.hey what did u type before??? on that removed coment

  • I think at the beginning it's a fast tremolo among other effects and at the end it's like a delay with really bassy/non-trebly sound and a little swell maybe? I dno that's my reckoning but i still can't make it sound right haha.

  • i can play this on guitar , ahhhh a amazing song =]

  • Does anyone think Spider Webb (now the bassist) looks kinda like David Bowie?

  • yeah totally heh!

  • omg yeh he does now!

i ador david bowie and spider webb.

worryingly though spider used to be a little chubbier, brighter etc. is it just me or does he look like hes been on the cokey dokey recently?

  • they do mention the use of illegal substances in a few interviews so it may not just be u

  • I love them Ö

  • Holy Motherfucking Shit, AMAZING!!

  • what a good video

  • Where was this live at?

  • :')

  • agree

  • Yay! First comment! Absolutely brilliant!
