  • Robocop anyone?

  • Has anyone bought this Ford car before.

  • Start of the "Jelly Bean" cars.

  • i love my 1992 taurus 188k miles still running strong. hope to fnd an 86 one day

  • The only Celebrity's I see on the road these days are the wagons. Those damn coupes rusted to hell and were made of some of the thinnest recycled metal Chevy ever made since '73 and '74.

I still see lots of 1st edition Taurus's on the road, many have no rear shocks left but overall the bodies are not too rusted at all and even the dings are not major on the ones I see rolling around.

  • Auhhh the Taurus What a piece of shit no handling no advanced A/C and no fucking way I would pick Taurus over a Chevy

  • @coololds85 Yes and the 1986 Chevolet Celebrity was one to remember with all those features you mentioned

  • @tolaviator Well you can't compare these two cars together the Taurus had features that didn't function right the celebrity had better qulity handling and was known for a car that wouldn't give you any mechanical problems let's just say Chevy was and is still on the top with their cars

  • @Madman66521 Its all a matter of opinion. I am not going to argue who is better Ford or GM because that is pointless and about like arguing which football team or political party is better. People have their opinions and will argue it til they are blue in the face

  • @tolaviator thanks for this commercial! I Love this car! these were great cars! ahead of there time in 1986 , These still look good today

  • '

    NO thank,,,

i dont like this ford taurus car,,,

this car is a poor wrong design

  • Found On Road Dead F.O.R.D taurus sucks, buy a fusion or one of the ford trucks.

  • First and second generation Tauruses = the best

  • ,

    oh NOO,,,

what is wrong with this ford taurus car,,,

this car is a not good design and poor fordmaker,,,

1 - wrong design for two amber yellow lights on the taillights for turning sign,,,

2 - front bumper block is not good enough cool radiator and help the motor cool,,,

3 - bad and wrong design for the gas in hole on the right side,,,

  • how old! lol

  • Excellent car. Very ahead of its time and shaped the future of car design forever

  • I had an 86 LX taurus in high school. I loved that car and it got great gas mileage too!

  • lol

  • LOL , in what? Have you seen how ugly falcon was before? Ford Taurus was always a tough car with lots of room for comfortable ride.

  • as much as i love the 86-95 taurus, the falcon actually is a more sporting and interesting car.

  • the taurus shares absolutely no parts with the crown vic

  • nah, tarus is fwd, crown victoria is rwd. But yes "Fuel Efficient" I ESPECIALLY hat the prius, it only gets an EPA estimate 50mpg (which is usually higher than what it actually gets!!) but new clean diesels get BETTER, and makes engine noises (yes, engine noise is good :D) !!

  • because we as americans have grown to buy even uglier and duller fwd family sedans

  • Ford quality is high.Taurus rules!

  • Actually, the reason the 96-98 Taurus bombed in Australia is because of our narrow minded conservative view on cars. I just bought myself a 96 Taurus, the Falcon may be reliable but it is no where near as smooth and comfortable as a Taurus. The rather in your face styling of this Taurus was primarily the reason for it failing in Australia, I quite like it though, Ford pushing the boundaries of design

  • IDK almost all cars have them today. And it seems like somebody with electronics experience could hack in to the lcd.

But, you could also do the same and reverse a old style odometer.

  • whoa...The Taurus had a digital instrument panel? Awesome! The Taurus is a tried, tested and proven car. If it wasnt, it wouldnt still be in production.

  • I've had 4 of them over the years - all brand new (at the time)... Had an '86 beige GL Wagon, a black 88 GL Sedan, a white 93 GL Sedan, and a 96 Green GL. Loved each and every one of them. They were ALL great cars!!!!

  • A common misconception

  • @japnikki IDK, they really turn 180 degrees, they realy make good products, especially the new Taurus and Fusion which is current car of the year

  • @japnikki They have a few bad models, however their quality reputation is well earned.

  • @japnikki

in past or today ? be more specific

  • Some are for sure along with most every other car company

  • i have a 1990 Ford Taurus and still runs great.

  • completely agree with below... Ford lost a Taurus legacy that could have been built and impoved upon like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry

  • There is a brand spanking new Taurus coming out for the 2010 or 2011 model year. It is an absolutely amazing looking car. If you search the internet for "2010 Ford Taurus" you can find some photos of the concept.

  • Ford > Chevy >> Chrysler

  • This could have been an incredible car, but Ford dropped the ball with quality and driving character. If reliability was at least halfway decent and the steering and suspension were tuned to a European standards, this car would have been unbeatable. Back to reality, reliability was a joke, suspension was mushy AND harsh, and steering was SO loose. The infamous transmission is what really ruined the Taurus. 20yrs of Taurus and they never fixed the problem. Unacceptable!

  • The car was ahead of its time.

  • this looks like a 90s commercial

  • Well it was 4 years before the 90's began.

  • i bet if they made them like that now people would still buy them.

  • Oh for sure, I'd have an LX or MT-5 or Sable LS.

  • a family member has a 1990 ford taurus and why does it not have the digital gauges?

  • Digital gauges were an option from 1986 until 1995.

  • ok thank you!

  • robocop police cars for the win!!

  • Looks better than the cars nowadays, they look like spaceships lol.

  • Ford set the trend for ALL cars when the Taurus came out the end of 1985 period. Go Ford!!

  • they really did, but didn't the t bird come out in 83 with the aero styling? ?

  • i think this is too new for 1986

  • Hard to beleive but yes, this commercial is from 1986.

  • i love this commercial

  • oh man I must be spoiled...but, Im sorry this car looks. like a heap of metal that was oddly shaped into what people thought was a car.

  • If you look at any other car from 1986, you'll see a blob of metal.

  • yeah your right.

  • Had an '87 Taurus LX, wonderful car that was ahead of it's time! Excellent handling and ride comfort. It had its small problems, nothing major. Got it up to just about 283,000 miles on the odometer went I had to get rid of it.

  • What a great, great commercial. It's just very few settings (4 to 5) but it's ambient sound and video make it truly impressive - and somehow mystic. - Typical 80ies desert-location by night. Awesome. Wished back those decade so much, although me myself was born in 1980...

  • I love when he says CAAR OF THE YEAR! and "Philosophy"

  • Taurus and 2nd Generation Tempo were great cars!

  • Excellent find and great ad.

  • Great commercial and beautiful car! Do you have anymore Taurus or SHO commercials?

  • It was a great commercial and car! I'm going through my ads now and posting some. I know I don't have any SHO ads. I wish there were someplace to buy original ones on tape or dvd because I'd really like to have some of them.
