To those saying Joss was miscast because she's beautiful and the real Anne was considered ugly- take a look at her portrait. She was the most beautiful of all Henry's wives. It was Henry not liking being pushed into a political marriage, his 1st choice being Christina of Milan, Anne having bruised his ego upon their first meeting, her not fitting his personal tastes, and Katherine H catching his fancy that all contributed to his dissatisfaction and complaints.

How the hell is it supposed to be pronounced? The TUWDORS? We Americans usually pronounce words as they are written, and if you don't like Americans then don't watch the Tudors as it is p[aid for, produced by and watched be Americans!
You're so vain... It's probably why Americans are sometimes so much annoying. It's funny since I'm French, and we are considered to be vain (especially in "The Tudors" :)). Anyway, a show about British history should be at least pronounced in the British way... It's more logical (and more beautiful :p).
Loved this 3rd Season!Showed Henry is capable of love and honour someone like Jane. She represented all that was pure in his Life:but sadly in order for him to get the heir,he had to lose the love of his Life. But they rest in peace now, together.Like how he wanted.Later in his years.he asked to be painted a picture of him and his sons...but it wasnt the Queen Catherine at his side, it was Jane Seymour who was painted...saying it all then..
wait....season 3 is already over. didn't you see it? oh...um i don't know where you live actually, so maybe not.
and I know...I think Dormer was such a gem, I really felt her absence in season 3 and found Jane's subtleties rather annoying. I think Dormer did the best portrayal of Anne Boleyn to date. can't believe she didn't win anything for it :S
o well no in england its only just started series 3 :) but it has been for me the worst of the series's so far since natalie is not in it anymore its really sad.
i totally agree though she so deserved an award for her portrayel of anne Boleyn :(
Jane's died is the clear reflection of it all. It could cost someone's life to get Henry what he wants. Yet, he still can't allow himself to feel happy & content...
is anyone else not happy with Kat Howard. Her storyline doesn't seem to match historic account. I know I shouldn't think that SHO would follow history but still why not make her a member of the queens house hold as a maid in waiting as she was...
Well, partially. He did have his own power agenda towards the end of his life, and he got a bit greedy, but he only did what the king told him to. He followed orders but that didn't mean he necessarily liked them (at least in the show, you can see he doesn't like it at times I dunno about the real life guy). And he's punished because Brandon, Bryan and the others wanted him gone and basically lied to the king about how Cromwell needed to be out of the way. All politics.
Henry only killed two of his wives Anne and the other Anne lol and I don't know about you but I hate Anne B cause she was the cause of all this I feel really bad for Katherine she suffered so much for this douche bag
Yes I have =) love it and I made a mistake it wasn't the other Anne he killed it was Catherine Howard. But about Anne no she was no pawn to Henry she bewitched him. Caused him to kill his friend Thomas More I'll give you that she was indeed a pawn to her father but not Henry she played him from the beginning why do you think he's so closed now with Jane telling her not to get into his affairs cause Anne did. Its her fault for playing to close to the fire.
that's not true... Anne of Cleaves he treated very well after they got divorced. She lived a a good life and even became somewhat of a friend of his later on.
if you look at the fact you will see that he discovered his great and overwelming love for Jane after she died giving him a son;till then he liked her because she was nothing like Anne; wich he got very very tired of because he ripped himself from the catholic church, and his kingdom, so he could marry her and be with her, and have a son whith her;but afther that seeing all the things he did and the fact that he still hasn't had a son made him want to hate her-hate is just a step away from love
Supposedly, Anita Briem wanted a no nudity clause in her contract for Season Three; the executive producers would not agree to it, and she was let go, being replaced by Annabelle Wallis. Coincidentally, Wallis is the niece of the late actor Richard Harris.
Henry was a phsyco..and Mary and the rest of his family all were victims of this sick man.
Mary was who most suffer..because she saw her mother suffering and she suffer the public humiliation and her life was in danger all the time because her father's reformation..
What do you expect of a woman with this pain and fear when she acceed to the throne..??
Actually Mary didn't. Read something like The First Queen of England: the muth of "Bloody Mary" for a geat unbiased but symphathetic account of Mary's life.
I find it ironic that Henry wanted a son and heir to become king, but it was his youngest daughter who became one of Englands greatest Monarchs, and his oldest daughter Mary one of the worst. Also Natalie Dormer should have won an emmy for her performance I thought she was terrific.
Mary is remembered as one of the worst because of slander campaign by those who didn't even live during her time, but in all actuallity, she was a quite common monarch...nothing compared to her sister of course, but she definately wasn't the worst. Linda Porter's book on Mary is a great read in regards to Mary's monarchy.
um quick question is jonathan american r british ?bcuz i just watch an interview with him and he had an american accent like to real, but then again so does christian bale, robert pattinson and ed westwick
I remembber hearing sommething that when henry was in the process of looking for his 4th wife, many princesses said that they didnt have enopugh heads to please henry or something of that nature. quite comical.
Goodness-I support all 6 of the unfortunate women who came into contact with Henry VIII and often through no real will of their own were forced to marry that psychopath. Agreed on all your other points. :)
True-and it proves nothing except that Jane was the only baby machine that gave Henry a son that outlived him-Catherine and Anne too had male babies but sadly they did not live. I think it's great that both his daughters lived to be Queen Regents-and that Elizabeth is remembered as perhaps the greatest monarch in English history-no thanks to Henry.
I completely agree. Having a male son was something too important for Henry VIII and I think he was just thankful to Jane Seymour. I agree that he may not have loved her the most just because they're buried next to one another. I think he loved Catherine the most, then Anne.
I'm so excited for this season but I'm gonna miss Anne/Natalie. I don't think Henry loved Jane as much as its being hyped up. I mean, she gave him the son he got rid of two wives and in the process tore his country apart, separating himself from the rest of Europe for. Also, I read she died before he could get tired of her. He got tired of Katherine and Anne.
Its true he did not have the chance to get bored of her... But she was the only one who gave him what he wanted most. A Son. But she was taken from him, and that was just another cruel slap from fate. A King who wanted everything his way... just couldnt manage to get it all... it drove him mad. He finally gets a son and loses the woman who gave it to him... after that its all just a big blood bath. God I love this whole story.
ohhh i can't wait for season 3! JRM is as always sooo sexy...and of course the same goes for Henry Cavill. James Frain is a wonderful actor, he did a good job playing Cromwell. I'll miss Natalie Dormer...she played Anne Boleyn so beautifully...also Jeremy Northam as Sir Thomas More

You have a point in that Henry treated Jane the best, possibly because she was quiet and unobtrusive, and also because of Edward. I have a hard time reconciling the real Henry VIII with love, but who knows? Maybe they'll change him this coming season. Jane and Henry do make a good looking couple.
Yeah....love in the sense of Henry, not the conventional sense. Actually he didn't treat Jane the best, by no means and her reconciling Mary and Henry in nonsense, Jane tried to reconcile them, but failed. He also told her that he would crown her queen of the north, but betrayed her. In retrospect she was his fav though.
Respectfully, it's not nonsense(imo). Sure Mary was the one who signed the act of succession, but it was Jane who got Henry to welcome her back. Henry could've just left Mary alone after she gave in, but Jane pushed.
Also, Henry was going to Coronate Jane, but everything changed when she became pregnant. Then he changed his mind quite fast about what was happening.
No, I don't think it's fair to say Jane 'pushed'. Jane was the meek wife, when Henry rebuked her over Mary, she shut up. The rest was really in between Henry/Mary.
I don't think I ever said that Henry wasn't going to crown Jane? He absolutely would have done, but she died.
He only "loved" her because she bowed down to him and gave him a son. He just actually liked her, as opposed to Anne who really pissed him off in the end.
He did love her, but she let him down too many times that he began to hate her. Jane was lucky in the fact that she could give him a son. That's the love he feels for her.
I personally think he loved all his wives. His claim that he loved Jane and she was his true wife was because of the male heir thing. Had Edward died, like his sons by Cat/Anne, he wouldn't have been that in love with her.
That title goes to no one but Henry himself. True, he may have only honored Jane because of Edward, but is this not applicable to Anne as well? He treated Anne so cruelly I find it hard to believe it was a genuine type of love, either. Love of Henry's life was himself.
I can appreciate what you're saying. But I do think that Jane having Edward is the crux of the matter. Henry's great affections towards Jane sprung from after the birth of Edward and it was this that made him think of Jane is his 'true wife' and that's what made her precious to him.
Concerning Anne, I think the fact that Henry hated her, which he did, and the fact that after her death he had all traces of her removed from his life, can only show that he had deep feelings for her. After all, he did tear his realm from Rome to marry her and we know that he saw both her failure to provide an heir and her adultury as a betrayal. And then of course there's the portrait outside Greenwich.
The device 'love of your life' can really be applied wherever. That's why I said I only half agreed. I would apply it to both Anne and Jane. To Jane because of what he said and to Anne because of what he did.
BECAUSE she sat there like a good little wife and had him a nice son, that's why! If Anne had done the same thing then she would have been his favorite, too. You have your opinion, I have mine. I think even the deepest love can go sour, which is what happened with Henry and Anne. They both made all kinds of promises and neither of them kept them. They were both at fault there. But IMO, he loved Anne.
I agree completely, there is no way that Henry did not love Anne so much because of the way he tried to "possess" her, he wouldn't have went through the trouble of doing anything to marry her if he didnt love her
of course i do, Jane wasnt loved because of HERSELF it was because she had a son, henry loved Anne for Anne and it obviously showed when he planned to have her burned but change it to beheading and sending for one of the best executioners to kill her which delayed her death, he obviously loved her to show her that kind of mercy, no way did he HATE her, he only needed her gone because he thought she couldnt have a son
I agree with all of this. Henry adored Anne - he absolutely did! But when he breaks up his country for this woman, he then realizes, 'Oh crap, I'm King of England!' and he has to deal with all these uprisings. The uprisings that he feels Anne brought upon him, because he did this all to be with her. And after promises of a son, and no son? He was going to get quite fiesty, and it was innocent, genuine Jane Seymour who got him away from all the craziness, and so therefore she was his new love.
Anne, no doubt, would have wished to resolve her situation with Henry, but it would have been very difficult. Even though he loved her, he had his back to her, which created the rock bottom of her downfall. Anne had no one to back her up - no one would beg to argue with the King, for the sake of a queen that many people did not like to begin with. Poor Anne Boleyn, raised much much too high.
i agree with u. and frankly i'm surprised at the thumbs down given to u. henry had a passionate love for anne and was so obsessed with possessing her that he tore his kingdom apart. he probably loved her the most
I've never once read that he hated Anne the most, he hated Anne of Cleves the most because he said she was ugly and didn't want to marry her, i have no doubt that he loved and adored Anne Boleyn until Jane came into the picture, but i have a feeling that he loved Catherine of Aragon the most until th later years when she grew older and stopped giving him children, Anne almost gave him a son but lost it because of his accident
He didn't really hate Anne of Cleves-he just wasn't turned on by her. He got on well with her after their annulment and showered her with palaces, and jewels as well as the respect of being 'the King's sister'. He did not have to do any of those things-he could have just sent her back-or worse...

ravenscheer23 2 years ago 2
Actually, Henry himself said that Jane was the love of his life -- that's why he is buried beside her.
ladyvignette 2 years ago 3
He only "loved" her because she bowed down to him and gave him a son. He just actually liked her, as opposed to Anne who really pissed him off in the end.
ravenscheer23 2 years ago 4
no Anne was the lust of his life, but he definatly didnt love her
katharinethequene 2 years ago 2
He did love her, but she let him down too many times that he began to hate her. Jane was lucky in the fact that she could give him a son. That's the love he feels for her.
ravenscheer23 2 years ago
No, it was lust and want of a son there was an age gap of between 10-17 yrs, they didnt love eachother
katharinethequene 2 years ago
You can love somebody 10-17 years older than you.
ravenscheer23 2 years ago 2
i know that, but it is a very large age gap

Are you the one who keeps thumbing me down? lol, okay, I have my opinion you have your opinion, just leave it.

I personally think he loved all his wives. His claim that he loved Jane and she was his true wife was because of the male heir thing. Had Edward died, like his sons by Cat/Anne, he wouldn't have been that in love with her.
lookinglass123 2 years ago
That title goes to no one but Henry himself. True, he may have only honored Jane because of Edward, but is this not applicable to Anne as well? He treated Anne so cruelly I find it hard to believe it was a genuine type of love, either. Love of Henry's life was himself.

Overall, ja, I agree.
lookinglass123 2 years ago
You don't behead the 'love of your life'.
According to Henry and history, Jane was the wife he loved the most and Anne was the one he hated the most.
And you can go on and on about Jane having Edward, but the fact it is, Jane was precious to Henry.
LNor19 2 years ago
I can appreciate what you're saying. But I do think that Jane having Edward is the crux of the matter. Henry's great affections towards Jane sprung from after the birth of Edward and it was this that made him think of Jane is his 'true wife' and that's what made her precious to him.
lookinglass123 2 years ago
Concerning Anne, I think the fact that Henry hated her, which he did, and the fact that after her death he had all traces of her removed from his life, can only show that he had deep feelings for her. After all, he did tear his realm from Rome to marry her and we know that he saw both her failure to provide an heir and her adultury as a betrayal. And then of course there's the portrait outside Greenwich.
lookinglass123 2 years ago
The device 'love of your life' can really be applied wherever. That's why I said I only half agreed. I would apply it to both Anne and Jane. To Jane because of what he said and to Anne because of what he did.
lookinglass123 2 years ago
BECAUSE she sat there like a good little wife and had him a nice son, that's why! If Anne had done the same thing then she would have been his favorite, too. You have your opinion, I have mine. I think even the deepest love can go sour, which is what happened with Henry and Anne. They both made all kinds of promises and neither of them kept them. They were both at fault there. But IMO, he loved Anne.
ravenscheer23 2 years ago 2
I agree completely, there is no way that Henry did not love Anne so much because of the way he tried to "possess" her, he wouldn't have went through the trouble of doing anything to marry her if he didnt love her
adamw2k8 2 years ago
Thank you! Finally somebody agrees.
ravenscheer23 2 years ago
of course i do, Jane wasnt loved because of HERSELF it was because she had a son, henry loved Anne for Anne and it obviously showed when he planned to have her burned but change it to beheading and sending for one of the best executioners to kill her which delayed her death, he obviously loved her to show her that kind of mercy, no way did he HATE her, he only needed her gone because he thought she couldnt have a son
adamw2k8 2 years ago 3

Poor Anne Boleyn, raised much much too high.

i agree with u. and frankly i'm surprised at the thumbs down given to u. henry had a passionate love for anne and was so obsessed with possessing her that he tore his kingdom apart. he probably loved her the most
fleurgi 2 years ago
I've never once read that he hated Anne the most, he hated Anne of Cleves the most because he said she was ugly and didn't want to marry her, i have no doubt that he loved and adored Anne Boleyn until Jane came into the picture, but i have a feeling that he loved Catherine of Aragon the most until th later years when she grew older and stopped giving him children, Anne almost gave him a son but lost it because of his accident
adamw2k8 2 years ago
He didn't really hate Anne of Cleves-he just wasn't turned on by her. He got on well with her after their annulment and showered her with palaces, and jewels as well as the respect of being 'the King's sister'. He did not have to do any of those things-he could have just sent her back-or worse...

I quite like Anne Of Cleves. She realized she was dealing with a lunatic. She had enough sense to take the money and haul ass.
