First France and Netherlands voted NO to an EU consitution, they changed a few words in it and changed the name to the Lisbon treaty and their parlaments accepted the Lissbon treaty. Only Ireland was allowed a referendum and they voted NO the first time. After one year they were forced to vote again and after some huge spending for lobbying for the yes side (50:1), the poor irish people accepted this treaty and now they are in worst shape since WW2.

WHY I THINK EU IS GOOD:

1. Economy of western EU countries didnt suffer as much crisis as it would otherwise due to larger market.

2. Economy of eastern european countries rised verry high due to EU and even some western countries have larger GDB (Ireland is perfect example).

3. With united foreign policy everyones interests would have larger impact.

4. One country doesnt mean one nation and difirent nationalities would be preserved inside EU.

5. Human right are better preserved.

@Gostilnicar Norway and Switzerland are not part of EU and they are the strongest economies inside Europe.Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in the whole world.The eastern european countries have done better after joining EU because "rich western european nations" have paid for building up these countries.However, these countries are now in a mess because the euro is a way too strong currency for them.EU has destroyed our sovereignity and only been a financial drain for all western countries.

People are being swayed by fear, loosing jobs and unable to pay bills they are desperate to believe that a Yes vote will help them.

My fear is even if there is a No majority, I would not be surprised if the result is rigged, with all this EU money behind the Yes camp its quite possible there is people behind the scenes to rig the result.

The Lisbon Treaty makes members of the european parliament (those who we vote in) totally powerless and laws and they can only give recomendations. I have looked up the lisbon treaty, and i find it very bad. Feb 20 of this year the european parliament voted yes to create a synchronized armed forces europe (SAFE) That's the first step towards a European military force. There will be a president of the european council AKA president of Europe. He or she will have a 2 and a half year term. You obviously did not read what I said. As I stated, the constitution of Germany for example specifically forbids referendums with only one exception, wich I mentioned in my earlier post. This has nothing to do with disrespect, but just with a government following the rules of their constitution. Sarkozy could have held a referendum, but he didn't. Wich he made clear BEFORE he was elected by the French people. So at least he made sure people would know what they were voting for. And that's fair.

The treaty doesn't reinstate the death penalty. It is simply reaffirming what is stated in the European Charter of Human Rights (wich is a CoE treaty, not EU), ratified by all EU-members. So this isn't anything new. Under certain conditions, it allows the use of violence wich may result in death, for example to defend someone against unjust violence, or to stop a riot (in accordance with the law). But it certainly doesn't allow governments to shoot people for not taking a flue vaccin.

The problem is that government agents usually infiltrate peaceful demonstrators and try to turn it to a riot, they've been caught dozens of times doing this! If you get a fascist government and there is some protest they could easily infiltrate the protest to cause a riot as a pretext to jail/kill its political enemies. Many people are realizing EU is turning to the fourth reich, but do not understand how soon...

The ECHR as been around for a long time. When was the last time a Western nation machinegunned a crowd to stop a riot? It's not a ticket to do whatever you want. As in any civilized country, there are more specific regulations on a national lvl for the use of deadly force. I can't even remember the last time the Dutch police went that far to stop a riot. They don't even use them when hooligans are throwing stones at them. And if they do and someone dies, they can be taken to court.

Well the police in sovjet, ddr and tjeckoslovakia has at least done it. If martial law is declared in the eu, and it can be very loosely declared (i.e flu), then eu law will superseede ALL national laws.

EU-law already supersedes national laws. If it didn't, there would be no point in making European laws. And the EU can't declare martial law, only nation states can as far as I know. But feel free to prove me wrong by showing me exactly were it states the EU can. Last but not least, stop blaming everything on the EU. The possibilty to declare martial law has long been part of many national constitutions, including mine. This is not some evil new rule introduced by the EU.

So I have scanned to Lisbon Treaty some more. And once again, all I kind find so far is evidence wich refutes your claims. For example, article 4 states: "It (The Union) shall respect their essential State functions, including ensuring the territorial integrity of the State, maintaining law and order and safeguarding national security. In particular, national security remains the sole responsibility of each Member State."

Your turn now, prove me wrong.
