  • its been months since I have watched this...back on it and it just gets better and better....keep it up Mat

  • Best cover ive seen yet! You've got the voice spot-on!

  • Thanks mspratz....It's my natural singing voice ;) Cheers.

  • just brilliant....

  • Hey. Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated.

  • no prob. quality stuff Matt.

  • not bad man

  • Cheers man

  • brilliant cover, what are the chords?

  • Pretty much..

    GCG

    GCDG

    GDA

    or something like that...

  • Damned fine effort m8, was a bit dubious about it before i heard it, but it is spot on..... Sounds like the wedding present un-plugged A+++++

  • Why thank you...I too was dubious about doing it on an acoustic guitar...such fast strumming whilst singing...Cheers!

  • Mate......being a fan of the wedding present, i thought that i wouldn't like it. But i thought it was bloody brilliant!! Well done!!

  • Thanks very much like...

  • Hi Mat, your Gedge vocals are spot on ! any chance of adding "Be Honest" to your repertoire, one of my fave Weddoe tracks and no YouTube hit ! Alternatively, my absolute favourite "You Should Always Keep In Touch With Your Friends" off Tommy. "After school..." T&C on Bizarro tour was the loudest gig i ever went to.

  • Cheers! If I could only work out the chords for Be Honest. Grrrr. I would love to do it. YSAKITWYF also! Fantastic! I went to Brixton Academy and it was utterly brilliant.

  • Come on Mat, you can do it !

Is it really cos you didn't like my mam, well i'm sorry I can't get born again...

  • how about love machine\great vids by the way .thanks

  • Well done man!!! saw the weddoes as a youngster many times 89-92 their best period i think how about a full tribute band? that would be ace I'd join only me wrists aint what they used to be (from playing along to weddoes records) aint got the stamina for the Gedge/Salowka speed battles haha

  • Hey, cheers dude. Is it rude to start a tribute band before the band split / retire? Been trying to work that one out as it is def on the cards for the future. I agree that 89-92 was their golden period, but they are certainly having a pretty good comeback the last few years...El Rey has some great vintage Gedge on it. Cheers for now.

  • And another! My evening's sorted - I'm gonna watch 'em all!! Thanks.

  • Hello again. Looks like I have a lot of replies to write. Cheers again!

  • Nice one! I've always loved this song and I'm impressed! Keep it up!

  • Hey. Thanks for the comment! Are you a weddoes fan or just know the one song - the famous "Apple Pie" song...Cheers!

  • a bend in TWP riff ... unheard of!

  • Fair play to ya bud! Nice guitar by the way.

  • Cheers miceal27...Much appreciated. I was sweating at the end of this one...

  • This is a great version Mat. Have you done A Million Miles? Surely one of Gedges best and rarely revived. The last line - '...at least not yet' is absolute poetry.

  • Cheers mate. I love "A Million Miles" too..."He's never mentioned you before...Oh, that didn't come out right at all..." You can find my version on my channel...Thanks again.

  • Found it. You did another top version Mat. The song meant a lot to me when I was growing up. It really encaptured falling in love, or in lust, or both or neither really! You knwo what I mean... Keep up the good work.

  • excellent version i'm sure gedge and the great man himself John Peel would approve, well done

  • Cheers mate. I'm really not worthy of such high praise, but thanks, it's much appreciated! I'll probably bump into Gedge at the upcoming London gig, so I may find out exactly what he think...Probably thump me!

  • Excellent work Mat.

  • Thanks Livyathan2007. Kind of you to say.

  • This is one of your best ! Well done. Done with real TWP passion.

  • Thanks Jonny33Boy. I really must buy you a beer at Koko in October for all your kind words...I'll be propping the bar up...

  • I'll certainly say Hi but will have to push through all your other fans.....

  • YES! Probably your best yet! I love how you sound especially Gedgey in this one (doesn't he?), as well as how you really went to town on that guitar of yours!

    Bravo!

  • Hey Ferrell. Can't believe you didn't get the first comment in! ;) Cheers again. Would you believe I broke a string? In true Gedge spirit!

  • This is a great song. Went to watch the 1990 live in Leeds version after this, and yours is an excellent cover - captures the essence of the song. Too much rapid movement with your right hand can make you go blind you know ;o)

  • This from someone who has written a song about a topless model? Cheers David.

  • Kennedy at last. A hard one, this so I had to work myself up to do it....Strumming is sooooo bloody fast that my right hand looks stationary in this vid! Hope it turned out OK! Cheers.
