Great sounds, but how quiet is it acoustically? I'm looking at entry level e-drums and the Traps E400 is at the top of my wish list (over the basic Alesis, Yamaha and Roland kits)...
they have no shells because they have to be portable !! that's the whole concept ..they are not toys !!! and they sound good enough..they do the job quite well..
the whole concept of this kit is portability, and these drums do the job, i've used a set in a live setting , although acoustic and they sounded good enough...they are not toys..a toy is what cb drum company makes..that's a toy..for those of you that think this is a toy, you're ignorant !
Watch the earlier top quartile videos were i gigged with the a400 and were very good, i only changed for the look of full size kit...by the way the vids were only recorded on a phone but they sound goog mic/d up.....recommended.
But this is so much more compact. It;s not only the drums. I still have all the cymbals, stands, clamps, drum throne and everything to carry around.. In a bulky hardware case on wheels. Tried all kinds of so called hardware-bags before, but they won't last with all the metal.
So this obviously is a serious reduction in weight and volume.
I will buy this when I really have to take my drums out more often. Most of the time we hire sound and they bring also the drumkit along. . I just bought some covers for my 12/13/16/22 tama set becaurse very occasionally a gig requires me to take my set with me and I didn't want to ruin the interior of the car I have now, where previously that wasn't an issue:)
We have sold thousands of these kits, some to the likes of big bands for warm ups and many have been gigged, they have won 'Best Portable Kit' for 3 years running.
@TrapsDrums don't worry, people who call these toys have no clear knowledge or understanding of the drum set. I have been drumming for 7 years, and this is on my christmas list. Very good kit (Y)
I think these kits sounds ok to be fair, the main great thing about them is that they are so portable and take up slightly less space, I've heard that a towel over the kick helps. Has anyone actually used these or the flats for studio recording? anyone care to share??
Why wouldn't you be able to use a double kick or ad dtoms? Though you wouldn't be able to find any flat drums to match, which would mess with the consistency of your set up.
i am interested in these drums. but two questions. #1 can i set this up as a lefty drum set?(you know, snare on the right side, deepest tom on the left side.) and #2, can i add more cymbal holders to the drum rack?

Had a set in the 80's, when it (the concept) was called Purecussion.
Toys,

Usually everything is miked live. I played on the crappiest drumsets who were taped completely dead. But it's the miking that takes care of matters.

I'm going to buy this, or the E400 one soon, when I've spared enough money. Seems to be worth it all.

It's actually electronic, but it feels like an acoustic.

Are you sure? I swear that's acoustic.

Yeah, sorry, you're right, I thought this was the E400 one, but then I noticed it isn't.

everything sounds pretty good except the bass drum, is there any way to dampen that?
tehGmoney 4 years ago
Either a trigger or, I've never tried it, but maybe taping a really thin cloth to the back of it.
