While Palin was not exactly my first choice for VP, this is just a snot fest and shows an angle of the democratic party that I very put off by. Cleese's line about how Palin's "been in these training sessions with Cheney's pals" drips with so much derision, it kind of makes me sick. After reading her book, I'm inclined to agree that Sarah Palin is not up to running the US. Neither is Obama - he is a demonstrably poor administrator, however eloquent a speaker. Intelligence is necessary in a leader, but leadership is not about intelligence - or we'd simply pick our best physicist to be President. Both parties need to do better. Oddly, I think that agree with her or not, Hillary Clinton is showing she can execute well as SecState. She is showing administrattive mojo.

Can't get his legislation through. Doesn't delegate - micromanages eg the recent health summit. Poor vetting of candidate for senior offices. In contrast, whether you agree with his politics or not, got his legislation through Congress. I think this reflects zobama's never running a large organization, even a small city, much less one of the States. his lack of experience in running an organization shows. In contrast, Carter had been Governor of Georgia, Reagan of California, and FDR of NY.

Well I hope you realise state health care will make health care cheaper yet at the same time better, for everyone. You might pay for others but others will pay for you too. The situation in the US is just silly to any European and we can't imagine a modern country where people are thrown out of hospitals when they need help.

I agree with you that it's hard to have a unique voice in the US political system and be heard. If you don't saddle up with one of the prevailing parties, you will wind up too far into the margins for consideration.

While Palin was not exactly my first choice for VP, this is just a snot fest and shows an angle of the democratic party that I very put off by. Cleese's line about how Palin's "been in these training sessions with Cheney's pals" drips with so much derision, it kind of makes me sick. I know people love it because Bush was so awful but after a while it just breeds a kind of knee jerk bigotry from a party that's prides itself in being superior. No thanks.

Buchanan is his own idiosyncratic animal, not the generic representative of the GOP (however loosely one wants to define the current vacuum called the GOP). It's not that I love Fox ...but there's plenty of aggregate gravity pulling against the Fox viewpoint on cable news. I disagree that there's a long way to go. The bigger issue is that cable news will never represent journalism on either front. I would be delighted, however, if Olbermann ever had something resembling debate on his show.

I have been voting Democratic since 1967 when I turned 21. Voted for many black candidates in 41 yrs! Recently, our Black Governor, Patterson, and went all out for our DA, sadly now probably on the way to jail, but thats beside the point) and served on the Dem, board/elections 25 years& the Upstate NY United Black Coalition as well.
