  • Yes, she is South African :-)

  • How much more beautiful a broken heart, than one unstirred and atrophied from non use? I would die like Dido a thousand times over, having known love for a fleeting moment, than live a life without love. The best art often has as its origin, a heart bereaved...

  • @americankgb all so-called origins of art are only a fiction, a lie.

  • She's my singing teacher :)

  • Oh God!!! heartbreaking!!!!

  • @DevaRupa it's too much! i can't take it!!!

  • Awesomeness.

  • This is absolutely riveting. She sings with such musicality-the notes covey the emotion you do not need to over act and this marvellous singer gives us something to remember her.

  • This is the only one, apart from Janet Baker's, which actually moves me. I think if you concentrate on the lyrics, the emotion takes care of itself. It's these 'listen to my voice' types, who, paradoxically, are the worst singers.

  • Merci pour cette vidéo tellement émouvante.

Où peut-on trouver des DVD avec Hanna van Niekerk (je pense à Didon de Purcell ou Antigone de Carl Orff) ?

  • Good God! Why haven't I heard of Hanna van Niekerk? This is one of the most moving Laments I've heard. Thank you.

  • My sentiments exactly. Moving, soulful stuff. She is an underrated artist. I think she's South African.

  • I like this too, the staging is nice, is there some sort of a bell in the strings playing? Or are my ears doing something odd? I think it is so moving because it is not overdone in a dramatic manner.
