@coops8291 I bought this coach in St.Catharines, not sure of the name of the store though, but its on the same road as the VIA Station, I go to that one whenever I'm up that way. I live in Chatham Ontario. But where is Niagara Central Hobbies? I'd love to check it out...
@HunterBHolmes its down town st catherins on st paul street u should also look up just train crazy in beamsville the guy who runs the place his name is peter hes a great guy good deals to
For ME, I'd be willing to spend like 2000 bucks for the complete "Canadian" set, providing the COMPLETE set was totally accurate AND assembled perfectly. Another 500 bones is not that much for piece of mind and a perfect (no tweaking needed) set of cars and locos ! Are you listening Jason Shron ????
I'm saving like mad to afford Rapido trains' "Canadian" set, due in 2010. Yes, I'm excited, but a pal has bought several Via blue HO coaches from Rapido the past few years, and found bowed underbodies, ill-fitting roofs, non-parallel striping etc. on some of the cars.
He feels their accuracy is gd, but the ASSEMBLY of the cars, in China of course, is bad.
Im afraid I WONT be able to see and inspect the cars of the Canadian before I put up the $, so it'll be "too late" if I aint satisfied.
I know exactly what you mean, the detailing and research is superb, but they are poorly assembled, their factory is quite hideous to begin with, looks more like a sweat shop to me, but they are only minor issues, there is a slight bow in the roof of mine and one of the steps is slightly crooked. I am NOT saying they aren't great products, because they really are the best detailed out there, BUT quality control on the consumer models MUST improve, which i suspect it will with time.
@HunterBHolmes Adding to the issues you have, I have 7 ONR leg rest coaches and one baggage, 1 VIA Duplex Sleeper and an Amtrak Cafe Bar Lounge (got in trade to be painted ONR 1408 Snack car) All are great cars BUT like you stated about the minor problems, a few of my ONR cars were received with broken roof lock tabs, all the wheel sets were out of gauge,I had one car missing a cut lever and a step and had a broken air line. The ONR cars seriously missed the quality control process
when rapido releases the 2 via/cn cars, you can add more by adding the cn decal from the microscale via rail passenger car decals set, just match it like rapido's and it will look so good. some of the via/cn cars were: baggage-express, coach, baggage, diner...
I finally have some rapido cars--10-5 sleeper, cafe- bar-lounge and lightweight coach. picked up the walthers super dome in via paint. now i wonder what kind of couplers are installed on the rapido cars in case of removal or accident..
All of mine missed the quality control step! I model the ONR and every one of my Rapido cars has a flaw of some sort. Mostly the roofs where it meets the car body there is gaps after the roof has been snapped into place. The white walls of the ONR cars allow the lighting to show through in the dark. Every car I have gotten has had broken or missing parts. Other then the flaws they are great cars. The cars are less then perfect!
I know how you feel i missed out on some early models to but was lucky to come across them at my hobby store one day. I have four steam jennys 2 C.N 54 - 1 VIA. and 1 C.N all brand new in the box. Might be willing to part with the VIA. You could try Georges Trains in Markham or Hornet hobbies in Toronto.
Oh thankyou! I'll definantly contact you if I can't find one and your really willing to part with it. I've looked at georges trains website about five years ago, never personally been there, but considering I like in Chatham (right between London and Windsor) its only about a 3 1/2 hour drive or 4 hour train ride from here, actually I'm taking the train up there on the 29th to meet with some friends,so ill try and poke around, until then I'll keep in touch to see what happens.
Unfortunatly not. I talked to Jason, head of Rapido via email and he said that the people I ordered the trains from don't get anything from them at all, and that some of the stuff I ordered has been sold out for two years from their warehouse, so the chances of me getting one are slim, I am very dissapointed. Excelent product terrible service... I understand its a small company and I have no problem with them, its the retailers I am furious with!

how do you connect the diaphragms for cars?
WAYNE1980AA 2 years ago
I'm not completely sure I understand your question? You don't have to connect the diaphragms...
HunterBHolmes 2 years ago
but if i wanted to, how? is there a switch?
WAYNE1980AA 2 years ago
Comment removed
WAYNE1980AA 2 years ago
I really don't get what your saying? The diaphragms are installed and even touch the other cars when coupled... so please explain.
