Exactly I am rich, have better lawyer you loose. If you think this only happens, out of the country, my ex ran with my kids for 3 weeks, drained our bank acct. hired lawyer, got custody! Kids grew up, hold the episode ex did against him, youngest live with me and other one has a child who trusts me to babysit over her dad !! Justice prevails. Gotta have faith !!! Did the law consider the boy's emotional welfare when he was in the US. You forget that Sean lived 4 years of his life in the US, 4 years living with his father and mother, and was suddenly taken away to live in a world he barely knows with just his mother. This is so fucked up. Fuck the laws. It should have been the boy's decision. Adults are so fucked up as well - putting such a hardship and stress on the child.

I agree that many adults are fucked up, but you can't just say fuck the laws. There is a legal premise that minors can't 'decide' where they want to live because they are vulnerable and easily manipulated. The stress was put on the child by his mother and then his grandparents: look at the way they paraded him on the street when they were told they could go into the Consulate's private garage. Children are not pawns, and they have a right to know and be with their parents.
The law does not consider the emotional welfare of the child. It is not right! Why the law is there when it is not to protect the center of all case - the boy??? The law is there to make fucked up adults happy. That is all messed up!
The law absolutely considers the emotional welfare of a minor child and it provides a child the right to know both his parents (except if one parent is unfit). The only fucked up people in this whole case are the Brazilian grandparents who did not take into account the child's right to know his father. This whole case is about the selfishness of the granparents and the arrogance of the stepfather who thought: I'm rich, the law doesn't apply to me.
@gersing By your logic I could just pluck your child from a shopping cart, raise it for years and then let it 'decide' to stay with me because it knows no other parent. Laws were BROKEN and Sean's suffering is entirely the fault of the maternal family. David had every right to try and salvage what few years of childhood he could with HIS son.
