Linux is ugly. So what if you use a buggy dock or make Linux look like an operating system that it isnt (Mac OSX) or use a buggy 3D effects thing, it's ugly. So what if you can customize it? The first thing I want to see when I get a new computer with Linux is something pretty. What do I get? A grey ugly top and bottom dock. So what if there's KDE? Why use something that can't even design a website properly without big huge fonts. KDE is buggy and annoying and not unique. Linux fails.

@TheJoeyzxc I'm using free software now to write this comment, and i'm sure it's not buggy and it does NOT look like a mac (i don't like the mac look), and 5 minutes before i was playing a 3D game totally smoothly. I'm using KDE 4.3 and it's not buggy, i'm using it without any problem...

sounds like your hardware fails bro. runs fine for me, ran better on my macbook than OS X did. Now on my desktop runs way way way better than windows 7 rc1 does. as for style, i find both OS X and faildows to be ugly as shit, my linux looks like my linux.

I thought Free software is where you can download and use it for free. And Open Source software is where it is not just free, but open to all communities and people can edit it, modify it, help with it's development? Free software doesn't mean you can modify it, is it?

What he asked for "free software, open source" is a world wide movement by the computer people. Red Hat Linux (if you even know what that is) is the competitor of Windows that is open source to every software developers, and they support the logan "open source".

Red Hat Linux is still open source thru Fedora. RHL is the enterprise edition of Fedora. You get tech support for some amount.

On paper, in 12pt Courier, I bet it's about 90kg lighter than that of Windows, too. If Microsoft ever want to look like the good guys again, they should open source everything but the current and previous kernel. An empty gesture, but they'd still look open, and things like Outlook, MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office would all practically get free coding labour.
