I was at this show! 10th row. Allmans played, then Love, then the Dead came on. After 3-4 Dead tunes, half the Allmans came back on stage, along with Peter Green and two other members of the original Fleetwood Mac band for 3 1/2 hrs non-stop. Pigpen was terrific, and Jerry, Green, and Duane stood together on the left side of the stage--what an amazing show. I HAVE read Amalie Rothchild's book--it's spooky how small that theatre was. When you were there and the music was hot, it was HUGE!
No, I haven't read it, but would love too. It was a very crazy time in my life and in the world in general. I'm lucky I survived! To be honest, I was extremely pretty and extremely naive, but not for long!!!
@Jerseygirl660: Tell us some of your memories. Have you read Amalie Rothchild's "Live At Fillmore East"? It's filled with lots of her wonderful intimate photos of the old place.
Yeah I heard this track on my Allman Bros cd and I kept wondering "Why does this sound so much like Johnny Winter? did he sit in at the Fillmore?" lol It's Just Oakley! Thanks for clarifying!
@saxofonalto090987 hoochie coochie man is just an ole blues composition by muddy waters that they covered. but "Stand Back" was composed by Berry Oakley after fiddling around with a good bass line. the rest of the band took it from there. one of my favorite songs.
are you sure this is the 02.11.70 show? because mione is different. I know awhile ago 02.11 and 02.14 were mixed up..Check out my 02.11.70 ending of mountain jam that I have. same one you have? cause this HCM doesnt sound like mine. Maybe mine is 02.14.70 or yours???
I was at 2.11 and don't remember them playing Mountain Jam. (But you know what they say about your memory; it's the second thing to go.) I just have never seen any two guitarists play so well together as Duane and Dicky did. Have you seen the current band with Derek Trucks? Now that's a smokin' thang!
its just a bootleg cd i have. i have many, just message me your email address and ill send it, and a list of any concerts you'd like to hear. most if not all of it is Duane Allman Era material
