I always use quotation marks in Google search to find pages that contain a specific word or a whole phrase.

So, instead of using tilde you can type "youtube" (with the quotation marks) and you'll get the same results.

Also, if you want to search for a phrase but you don't know how it goes, you can use quotation marks and a STAR (shift 8) in between whatever you remember to let Google fill in the blank. For example: "i * everyone" would get you "i hope everyone", "i hate everyone", etc.
