@carbon5146 our s211 is a bit diffrent, its ac2waly an as211, a=attack, it has hard points for armaments and i guess a crude electronic targeting system, so if what i saw was right, this as211 could destroy the f-18 with cannon fire, the as211 being much smaller would prove to be a harder target in a non-guided missile battle. dont woree bro, were almost on our hands on TA-50 golden eagles and F-18s, trust me

who said that? in time of war s211 is capable of air-to-air missile(sidewinder) it can also be used against tanks. in south africa s211 is thier primary planes patrolling their borders.
@ARVIGERARD yup, pretty much the same opinion I used to have, but I read somewhere that the F/A-18 pilot had a hard time doing BVR target acquisitions as the tiny S-211 has a small radar signature, not to mention, there's a high-risk of aircraft getting involved in friendly fire hence the need for visual-range combat maneuvering skills.

Well bro, they cant get rid of this plane yet cuz they need this to keep our flyboys proficient in jet flight operations. The PAF has plans to aquire modern MRF's under the Horizon 2 Program of the Capability Upgrade Program of the AFP. They hope to aqcuire Modern MRF's and LIFT's as well as Air Defense Radars and MPA's. The S-211's are currently serving as stop-gaps. So they are not ditching this aircraft soon, it still has a longway with the ADW.
So do I bro, I'm crossing my fingers. Meanwhile at least we have 2 C-130'S operational now since they overhauled one from the storage. DND Sec. Teodoro also approved the purchase of CUH but we dont know what type of Helicopters are being offered yet and I dnt think they approved the funds yet but hopefully it works this time, The Army also has Upgraded m-113's on the way and the Navy recently received MPAC's.
Yup, they overhauled C-130H #3633 to replace L-100-20 #4593(the bird that crashed in Davao) so now we have 2 again. There's also another one on the way for refurbishment, i think it's a B model but they don't have the funding for that yet. CGPAF Oscar Rabena said that 4 C-130 is the ideal number to support the AFP wide-support services(airlift of troops, equipment, disaster relief, etc)
The S-211 is used only for light attack and advance trainer. It cannot be substituted for air superiority role as it has limited capabity due to the fact that it is a trainer aircraft..... The Republic of Singapore Air Force used it as a trainer only and nothing else due to mediocre performance for a fighter....
The best choice for our government, to sell or lease all of the Commercial airplanes of PAL and upgrade PAF to maximum capabilities. Anyways, there is the Cebu Pacific and Air Phils. to take care of the other flights. HAHAHAHAHA
PAF has 2-types of S211 jet.. Trainer and the Warrior type AS211. I have no detail info on the Warrior since its type is tailored-made for Attack missions other than Installation of Gunsighting system. I believe the AS211 is the basis for the M311.
No there are 4, not 3, 3 warrior type and 1 trainer type, and i still know the 4 remaining colors of our s-211s, 3 gray ones, and one camouflage, but the camouflage s-211 (trainer) is in danger of putting out of service
Actually as I was watching this video, I saw two types of US jets simulating a dogfight with the PAF AS211 jets. 1st one US jets are the F18 HOrnets and the 2nd pair are US Marines AV-8B Harriers. Watch closely.
Also AS211 can put-up a good dogfights with the likes of F18, F16 and Harriers since this dogfights are flown at subsonic speeds or even lower speeds. Pilots skills and determination will dictate the outcome.
S211 as a trainer might be in a disadvantage if OPFOR are armed with Sidewinders but if AS211 avionics is upgraded to fire Sidewinder or Python missile like from Elbit then its match. But airgunnery skills depends on the pilots skills. AS211 is not just trainer but combat trainers.
PAF is not a devoid air force,they just keep opsec.Pls.read the comments of the US Marines pilots on our S211 Pilots.Maybe it will help deviate your thought.

@phoenixon99 naw mobility, stability, speed still a winner. There is no way F-18 vs s211 not even a jet fighter type.
And F-18 can run Mach 2 speeds and using a XMAA middle range missile so that means even a non experience pilot can eliminate a s211 jet trainer.
Dog fights? F-18 is still a winner due to his stability and mobility

@ARVIGERARD yup, pretty much the same opinion I used to have, but I read somewhere that the F/A-18 pilot had a hard time doing BVR target acquisitions as the tiny S-211 has a small radar signature, not to mention, there's a high-risk of aircraft getting involved in friendly fire hence the need for visual-range combat maneuvering skills.

Well bro, they cant get rid of this plane yet cuz they need this to keep our flyboys proficient in jet flight operations. The PAF has plans to aquire modern MRF's under the Horizon 2 Program of the Capability Upgrade Program of the AFP. They hope to aqcuire Modern MRF's and LIFT's as well as Air Defense Radars and MPA's. The S-211's are currently serving as stop-gaps. So they are not ditching this aircraft soon, it still has a longway with the ADW.

So do I bro, I'm crossing my fingers. Meanwhile at least we have 2 C-130'S operational now since they overhauled one from the storage. DND Sec. Teodoro also approved the purchase of CUH but we dont know what type of Helicopters are being offered yet and I dnt think they approved the funds yet but hopefully it works this time, The Army also has Upgraded m-113's on the way and the Navy recently received MPAC's.

Yup, they overhauled C-130H #3633 to replace L-100-20 #4593(the bird that crashed in Davao) so now we have 2 again. There's also another one on the way for refurbishment, i think it's a B model but they don't have the funding for that yet. CGPAF Oscar Rabena said that 4 C-130 is the ideal number to support the AFP wide-support services(airlift of troops, equipment, disaster relief, etc)

The S-211 is used only for light attack and advance trainer. It cannot be substituted for air superiority role as it has limited capabity due to the fact that it is a trainer aircraft..... The Republic of Singapore Air Force used it as a trainer only and nothing else due to mediocre performance for a fighter....

PAF has 2-types of S211 jet.. Trainer and the Warrior type AS211. I have no detail info on the Warrior since its type is tailored-made for Attack missions other than Installation of Gunsighting system. I believe the AS211 is the basis for the M311.

Actually as I was watching this video, I saw two types of US jets simulating a dogfight with the PAF AS211 jets. 1st one US jets are the F18 HOrnets and the 2nd pair are US Marines AV-8B Harriers. Watch closely.
Also AS211 can put-up a good dogfights with the likes of F18, F16 and Harriers since this dogfights are flown at subsonic speeds or even lower speeds. Pilots skills and determination will dictate the outcome.

S211 as a trainer might be in a disadvantage if OPFOR are armed with Sidewinders but if AS211 avionics is upgraded to fire Sidewinder or Python missile like from Elbit then its match. But airgunnery skills depends on the pilots skills. AS211 is not just trainer but combat trainers.
