@Gamewizard1 If you mean the new movie, the only correlation is the supernova mentioned in the movie that lead to the destruction of Romulus. For some info regarding the timeline, check out startrekonline(dot)com/timeline-alternate
@Gamewizard1 There is randomly generated content at various locations in the game. While they may start to get repetitive, Cryptic is continually releasing new content into the game. Personally, I still haven't played everything that was available in the initial release, and now that Season Two is out, I'll have even more to play!
This mission is a fucking movie, a good one too! To fight ridge-less klingons! And to save and be saved by the kirk era enterprise!! After this mission I've started to dislike the patrol and defend missions. Too dull, comparatively. But I've started getting romulan missions, so it's (hopefully) picking back up. How did you pet that tribble whilest in battle?
I didn't realize I was in battle at the time. You have to be "out of combat", which means the red alert sign at the top has to stop flashing. If I was able to pet it during combat, then it was a bug. That's not supposed to be possible.
@JerenYun: I know you have to be out of combat, that's why I wanted to know how you did it! That might save me some aggravation if I could hide behind a rock, pet my tribble and not die. Though admittedly, this mission was the only one so far in which I've died on the ground. But still, it would be good to have.
I re-watched the video. When I pet the tribble, did the "Red Alert" warning at the top of the screen disappear? If so, I was out of combat at the time. I believe I was.
It's definitely a different style than I have seen with other MMOs, but I think it feels rather Trek-ish at the moment, at least compared to other MMOs I've seen.
At present, PvP is between Klingon and Federation players. They plan to implement Fed vs Fed and Klingon vs Klingon PvP soon, too. (Essentially, this would be explained as war games and training).
I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition from Amazon, but I haven't received it yet. I'm still running the client I've used since closed beta began a few months ago.
Thankfully, the client updates itself, so I really don't have a need for the game CD at this point (which is good, as I haven't received my game box yet).
As noted in the side description, FRAPS caused some issues while I recorded this. There are a few small glitches with combat at times, but FRAPS made the game a bit laggy to play.
wtf tribble!

Thelin? That was the name of Kirk's First Officer in an episode of TAS where Spock got killed as a child and rewrote history
Captain Thelin even has greyish skin like TAS Thelin does

MMOs can be tough to judge. And each person is different. Hopefully, though, you've had some fun so far. :)

Is this mission some kind of tie in with the original series?
JacobSheppard 2 years ago
It does have some tie-ins with both the original series as well as an episode of Star Trek: Voyager.

This would be pretty cool with human opponents. How is pvp handled in the game?

I noticed the life time fee. Is that a one time fee?
megamanfan3 2 years ago
Life time is a one time fee, as opposed to a monthly fee.

Just ordered my Collector's Edition from Amazon. Huge Trekkie here.

Dude set phasers to kill! One shot and they're done! Bam! Haha. Thanks for making the videos.

My pleasure!
And there are some ways to quickly kill ground units. I just didn't have the best equipment to do so.

the ground combat looks alittle glitchy, like your flying around like a paper plane :P
