  • Are they lip~syncing?

  • I still sing this song and hear it on the radio. Great song, great harmony

  • he is good looking indeed:)

  • Why did these folks not have a future in music? It seems that half the people that are worthy don't make the cut.

  • the title of this song is why it wasnt a bigger hit... I mean people say (hey man, you got that song ,let her cry,)

  • The young David Foster on keyboards..... Nice!

  • mmmmm me encanta donny garret.muy atractivo y sexi.

  • Is Donny Gerrard not the coolest looking dude you've ever seen? Pure 70s coolness, Shaft ain't got nothing on him! Absolutely love this song.

  • @CrisisBand He is a hottie, even today he still looks the same.

  • @altoidsmit WELL I KNOW HE HAS A GREAT VOICE... OTHER THAN THAT YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO IMAGINE

  • I have heard many versions of this song but no one even touches Donny.

  • @Sapphirekatgirl2 Thats sooo true. Donny is so awesome. Every other version from any other artist is an insult to the song. Wonder whats become of him ?

  • You will never know how thankful I am that you posted this video - this is the song that was once dedicated to me by someone who knew everything about me without being told in a single word - everything that is relayed in this song. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

  • Where are all the black rockers today? where? This is great, and thanks for posting.

  • Timeless.

  • Absolutely a gem!!Love how soul meets some great guitar riffs.

  • Love it!

  • this song is all about a virgin girl who lost her virginity.

when her youthfull world was about to fall in.

  • Fantastic performance of a great song.

  • I dedicate this timeless song to the greatest love of my life.....Mama love you so much...

  • Dreaming Love Always!

  • I ws 17 years old and working as a doorman in a Yonge St Toronto striop joint, when I was asked by the live band if I wanted to Jam. I jumped up on the stage and did this song with them. That was my first time on a professional stage, and the first song I ever did. It convinced me to compete in a number of ameteur shows, and led ultimately to a 35 year career in the music business. God bless Skylark for a product that was that influencing.

  • @pjstyles2000 I love that story, thanks for sharing :)

  • @pjstyles2000 Cool. What instrument did you play?

  • I'll never forget that black and white plaid suit that back up singer is wearing either!Yes...definitely unforgettable.

  • One of the greatest songs of all time.I'll never forget it

  • Well look what's missing: No Auto tuning , no synthesizers, no fancy studio gimmicks, just pure talent. Take note you current top 40 bimbos: you don't qualify to cling to the bottom of this group's shoes.

  • @Adfumbler I wholeheartedly agree!!

  • I was18 years old and in the military. First heard this while reading my 'Dear John' letter. I love this song and I hate this song.

  • @bleedinblues1 awww so sorry to hear that it is a good-bad song for ya.. i was married to my deceased husband when i first heard this.. baby-- life has a way with things.. we have to go thru everyday like it were our last.. ??? always here if ya wanna talk.. send me a message on yahoo IM.. debbieharvey19@yahoo.com.. let me know it is you and I will add ya..

  • That rendition and also,Gladys Knights rendition of The Way We Were,I feel both songs were better than the original. Also,I love Kim Wilde's version"If I can't have you"by Yvonne Eliman much better than the original.Kim Wilde has more pizazz and more of a sexier voice than Yvonne.Don't get me wrong,Yvonne is a good singer.I just liked Kim's version because, she had the disco version and the rock version, that she both did a rendition of.Both of these sounded great.

  • Everybody is entitled to their opinion but for the most part, the original version of this I feel is the best.I've heard a couple of other versions and they can't top the Skylark original version. The renditions don't have the same sound or rhthym that the lead vocalist of Skylark had. The only exceptions I've heard or that come close to topping the original song,is like the version of Stop,Look and Listen by the Stylistics, which was done and renditioned by Michael McDonald with Toni Braxton.

  • skylark was first

  • The New Birth version is so much more soulful. I can't remember who sang it first though.

  • Ma' RIP loved this song & I could've sung it for you when it was new, but only now do I understand the lyrics havin' perceived far too many domestic violence cases. too many close to me have been victimized. it has become hard to listen without cryin' or wantin' to take some of those MMA moves & puttin' a spousal abuser into the hurt locker. I miss my idealism, innocence & naïveté I put onto the altar of sacrifice.

I dedicate this to all those out there that survived a hostile home environment.

  • song was penned by RCMP Mountie officer in Victoria BC Canada

  • @lincoln2ish and I have loved this song since i was a little hobbitt!!

  • @lincoln2ish and I have loved this song since i was a little hobbitt!!!

  • This is one of those unique songs, that you can remember "exactly where you were", "what you doing".

I believe it was 1972 or 1973, my dad had to go to Birmingham,AL to get TV parts and while he was inside the store, I was sitting in car and this song come of the radio, that was almost 40 year ago and I can still remember the first time I heard "WILDFLOWER" what song, what memories.

  • I have loved this song since I was a little girl.

  • This is a true classic, and so many people, including myself, can relate to it. I was abused at many levels as a child, and it speaks to my fragile side, yet points out the strength it takes to be a survivor. It's always been hauntingly beautiful, to me.

  • It is too bad that so few people ever enjoy this beautifully crafted, and performed song! The beginnings of the so called "Power Ballad"! It is simply a great song. And check this out, they were able to bring it for live T.V..! Haha let see "place the name of one of today's so-called, STARS here!" try this one!

  • One of my fave song:-)))

  • This song stuck with me in my sweet as honeyed heart

  • Great song but damn pregnant or not that gals dress blows it doesn't just make her butt look big

  • That song has always touched me. One of the most romantic songs ever!!

  • It brings back the times

  • i just love it...... priceless....

  • He's wearing a different shirt than he wore when he recorded the studio version too. (boing).

  • The tempo is slower in this performance than the studio recording.

  • To a certain extent, this tune has a bit of sappiness in it; And you wonder where performers like Justin Bieber get ti from. Just saying.

  • @kja427 yet another cheap comment to plug that no talent hack

  • You can find Wildflower collectibles on most cd websites!I got the album from the website cd universe! It has all their popular songs!

  • Timeless!

  • WAs it sort of a one hit wonder? So so beautifully done, breaks your heart everytime you hear it no matter how long it has been since you heard it!

  • I'd love to find the rest of the album too. There were other songs that were hugely underrated!

  • SIng it, brother!

this gets play every day by ME!!

  • Up until now I had only heard the Color Me Badd cover and I thought it was beautiful. But this band is way more awesome! Love it, and thanks for sharing.

  • I remember buying this vinyl in Salt Lake City in 1973...still have it. This live version is surprisingly good.

  • How could someone not absolutely love this song or this performance?

  • Some very fond memories....

  • real music....ahhhh just love it!!

  • he was cute.

  • white session players & black singers, much black music was writen by jews from 1960 to 75.. go figure. .

  • @tommieparch No kidding. A pregnant White girl singing on stage between to Black dudes back in 1973 was a risky thing for any promoter to take on. Featuring them on Midnight Special took some guts, even though the race riots of the 1960's took place in America, but not in Canada, where the group originated from.

  • @Visionary0001 hey man. even the soft rock band america were from canada.. tommy

  • Not bad

  • Raw, Live, Clean,Real and so on. Perfect and done in an effortless mannor.

Thank you so much for this post

  • from the day I heard this song back in the 70's I knew it would be the song heard at my funeral and I actually have it listed as so in my will, it described me then & now.

  • this song is awesome no questions asked nothing today can or will compare

  • We can turn back the time to great music any time we want. It's all here and it is better than ever. How can someone dislike this? I cannot understand . . . hold on just one second, varmint, . . . I know eggzactly why they don't dig it . . .

    They got no soul . . . Can't have any . . . Just tottering soulless zombies . . . with no rhythm.

Working hard to make life better. Too many today sit and do nothing ...are they waiting on ''us'' to do it again for them? Get off that ass and the internet and go make a statement. • The song was originally done by Skylark and remade by New Birth and the O'jays.I remember when the song first came out. A beautiful song. Brings back memories of plying basketball at the playground in Youngstown with two guys from New Birth before a show at Reed's Arena. I was a 10th grader. this is a beautiful song. Now days people's taste regarding music is strange. How could anyone not like the song? Oh well.

  • @JODYMACK1957 New Birth's remake of this was much better-New Birth's remake of this song make me appreciate this song so much better-

  • @curtisjones400 Same here..When this came out I did not like it either until New birth remade it! Cute guys would ask me to dance at parties.. I would turn them down because of this song. Funny how you remember things from way back ..73! Aww good ole days! Beautiful song!

  • Will be honored soon at the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

  • @YYC403NOYP You deserve it.Congrats to you all.

  • I disagree with a few of you. In my opinion New Birth did this song justice even though I think skylark is the original artist.

  • Are they a Canadian band?

  • @shrededwheat ...no they are eskimos.

  • @shrededwheat Victoria/Vancouver, British Columbia

  • This brings back some great memories. Too bad that Midnight Special only showed a brief glimpse of keyboard player, David Foster, the mastermind behind Skylark. Great video - thanx 4 posting. Check out their lost single, "If That's The Way You Want It" on my channel. It's the only place on YouTube you'll find it.

  • This is such a beautiful song I never heard before and I would like to introduce this song to my friends and friends.

  • @happycow222222 IT'S REALLY AN OLD SONG THAT'S WHY,I BELIEVE, YOU HAD NEVER LISTENED TO IT..

  • I thought that this song was originally sung by New Birth. Learn something new everyday. I like this, but the New Birth version--the background vocals--they killed it!

I mean killed it in the best way.

  • @Mssassysabrina I totally agree with you.. New Birth vocals killed this song (in a good way) just awesome...

I like Skylark as well... Peace...

  • Love this song it was our Graduation song.....growing into a LADY

  • THIS IS A SAD SONG

  • @srcourtofficer shutty.... it's honest.
