"Julia" is the only song by The Beatles where John is the only one playing and singing. It was recorded on 13 Oct. '68 in 3 takes with each one having John playing his D-28 acoustic and singing then double tracking both guitar and vocal. "Julia " was the last song recorded for the White Album.

There is no bass guitar on "Julia". According to "The Beatles Recording Sessions- The Official Abbey Road Studio Session Notes" by Mark Lewishon page 161. John is the only Beatle on Julia. Just him and his Guitar, double tracked. This book was written using the actual studio notes, recording sheets, and actual tapes of each track. If there was even one strike of any instrument in the song it would appear in the recording notes. Who is Bob Spitz??

John would've never come to write this song if it weren't for his physical and spiritual bond with Paul. And likely the same for Paul's use of his mother "Mary" in "Let it Be".
