I think it relates to the first earth age. Before Satan's rebellion we all worshiped God. 1/3rd of us followed Satan. God is giving us another chance. Its a test of loyalty. You suffer greatly (as have I) but if you overcome all of it you will be become a spirit entity again. God's also looking for rulers. For people who's minds don't blow with the wind like what happened with Satan. He's looking for loyal people who will not cause another betrayal which causes so much sorrow.
Obviously something like this with Satan and God competing for worship can never happen again. God needs to show the angels in heaven and humans the consequences. If no one followed Satan then God would have just destroyed Satan but since 1/3rd did he's got to make a point. To ensure that it will not God is making life on earth horrible. There needs to be enough of an emotional reaction created in people that the thought of rebelling would be out of the question. Bible says it wont happen again.

I think it relates to the first earth age. Before Satan's rebellion we all worshiped God. 1/3rd of us followed Satan. God is giving us another chance. Its a test of loyalty. You suffer greatly (as have I) but if you overcome all of it you will be become a spirit entity again. God's also looking for rulers. Obviously something like this with Satan and God competing for worship can never happen again. God needs to show the angels in heaven and humans the consequences. If no one followed Satan then God would have just destroyed Satan but since 1/3rd did he's got to make a point. To ensure that it will not God is making life on earth horrible. There needs to be enough of an emotional reaction created in people that the thought of rebelling would be out of the question. Bible says it wont happen again.
