  • the atmosphere is so dense ... like floating on a boat through the warm and glittering evening until suddenly the cathedral come into view. i'm both reminded of bartoks adagio religioso of his piano concerto (at the beginning) and of the great gate of kiev by mussorgsky. utterly splendid

  • debussy is the best, and stokowski was also quite a genius.

  • It's so amazing to me that in the hands of an orchestra...this piece certainly becomes something other than its piano representation...

  • I'm not at all a fan of Stokowsky, and i hate his conducting, but this is just AWESOME!

  • GENIUS

  • Thanks alot for posting this. The quality is amazing and its the only recording i found online besides the original recording from 1930 on the stokowski website which was great, but very hard to hear clearly. Thanks againn

  • This is a piece that leaves me speechless. Wonderful on piano, wonderful with an orchestra. Thanks for the posting.

  • Superb performance. I just wish I knew which Orchestra performed it.

  • It's the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, conducted by Erich Kuenzel

    Thanks for your comment

  • J-M, Maestro!

Thank you so much for posting this!

Stokowski, in my remaining humble opionion, is one of, if not THE, best interpreters of my beloved Debussy.

A beuatiful performance. Was this with the Philadelphia? Marvelous!

Hope all is well my friend.

    Best,

    Billy

  • Un enchantement!
