@sdperez79 It has been based on debian since version 10 released at the begining of 2011, it was based on ubuntu before then. So it is correct to say that it's debian with openbox(default) or XFCE. But since it's aimed at low end hardware, it's faster than debian or ubuntu.
@metasjodiendo well, basically a Desktop environment is a package that comes with, or should come with everything you need for every day use on your computer, like a text editor, music player, video player, calculator etc, and the window manager will just install THE very window manager to be able to manage any windows you open, all the the other apps/packages you have to install yourself according to your needs. I honestly prefer the later, it allows me to have more control on my install.
I was using Gnome. But fuckin' Evolution cannot be deleted normally. So I deleted all the Gnome and installed Openbox. It was yesterday so I just began to explore it. And the more I explore the more I like it. Awesome WM looks very cool, very comfortable, I will try it later.
@Evilwaysvlk I hear ya, getting rid of a lot of junk that gnome comes with can be a pain. What I like about awesome window manager is that once you read the man page it takes around 30 mins for you to get used to it completely, and the lua config file is not hard to edit even if you don't know the lua language. Open box is lightweight and very nice also, most likely you'll find it nice.
@jaymezavirus Already found. they both are nice and lightweight. I didn't read awesome's man. Just opened .awesomerc, and no man needed. Awesome little heavier than OB but much more easy to explore. Decided to use them both on my Lenny.

Hey that looks really cool! Can you tell me what's the difference between a Window Manager and a Desktop Environment? Thanks!
