OMG...if this song comes on in my car, better stay off the sidewalks. It is impossible for me not to grab something that resembles a microphone and put my free hand in the air. Singin' and swervin'- RUN!!! lol

@Rowdyrecords55 they are 100percent white group kid surely your parents was still not yet born or 1-3 year old when i was playing the records of this group in our band
theese guys were a perfect example of how a group could have such a catchy great song, great production, excellent vocals and NEVER to be heard from again on the charts. It happened so many times. You would think the record company would do their best to milk this sound for at least another hit
This song is great and was a BIG hit as it is still today back in my old home town of Pittsburgh PA. What I ask is not to like? Fantastic song and words!!!
I was just beginning to live when this was released. A young adult, working, proud and having fun! My sister and I rushed out and bought this on a 45 and we'd enjoy this on Saturday mornings after a long week's work. That's youth! My boyfriend loved this too and to him RIP. Beautiful, classic!
I love this song, my dad used to play this all the time on his turn table when i was growing up. He's in Canada with my mom and my brother, and I'm here in the Philippines with my own family and listening to this tune it certainly makes me feel like they're right next to me. Thank you so much for a beautiful song like this.
This drum track is beyond belief - nobody got more licks on the radio than this cat, who I learn today is mr Vinnie Parello - lest he was replaced here - but the style of the track tells me that this was no hired gun short of Bernard Purdie. So to Mr. Parello, wherever you are: this is badass, the vocal kills, the horn chart is fat, and every stroke at the drum kit is clear as a bell. For all time.
You know I really shouldn't mix these youtube songs with my meds....I am 10 yrs old again....feelin fine!!!!! Thanks so much for posting this! (ps I don't remember enuf math to help my kids with Algebra...but I remembered every lyric to this song!) (I Know!!)
Yes, defined my youth...so rough sometimes facing growing older. Time goes by so fast, wish I could go back...music is probably by biggest obsession, it transcends time and fills my soul with smiles...GREAT tune.
From reading most comment, I didn't grow up listening to these songs but when I'm at work and this song comes on, I just want to sing out loud cause it's such a good song. I have not been in love but listening to this song can give me a taste of what it feels like to be in love.
Wow - revisiting my childhood. This was the music people played as I was becoming a teenager. I just noticed how the band spelled staircase (starecase). Thanks for the memories!

Great song, I have this song on my cassette tape playing while driving home from work one day, stopped at a red light, windows down and playing this tune fairly loudly. I quickly noticed that the ladies in the cars in the next lane lowered their radios and listening to the song - Talking about disappointment, when I had to turn left on a green arrow.............Thanks again!!!!
@rixtube77 Funny you mention that. I also remember my old neighborhood in 1969 with this song exactly like it was. Its like a dream I wish I could step back into. What a wonderful time it was for me.
I first heard this song about 12 or 13 years ago on the television programme Ally McBeal, and I remember thinking "what a great tune", .... and it is a great tune.
This was a favorite of mine. Really can it get any better than to love someone more and more every day? I don't think so. Beautiful. Thank you so much for this post.

Hey Xango 2001 you are missing the point. Of course C.Earland's version is way more hip - its JAZZ You are comparing apples/oranges. Exactly, especially that singer. I ended up here because I couldn't find the name of the song and his voice was ringing in my head.
The music industry used to be flushed with so much talent that they'd just assume there'd be another singer and band like this the next week.
