I'm from Michigan but my family owns a summer cottage on lake Manitoulin.

As a child (20 years ago) we used to vacation on Treasure Island in the summertime. My Grandfather worked as a caretaker there during the summers. Watching your video really brought back some wonderful memories.

i grew up in Mindemoya, spent my summers down there on Providence Bay, Carter's Bay, Meldrum Bay at the lighthouse and of course the backroads between Sandfield and Tehkummah! man i love that country.

Just viewedyour video...It took everything I had not to cry. We have a cottage on Kagawong Lake that my Grandfather built 50years ago. We couldn't make it up this year so I am missing it something awful. I have been going up now for about 40 years. The people are wonderful and we know many of them and have for years. Once you have been on the island it is a part of you. Thanks so much for the video..Everyone needs to visit at least once.

I don't think Manitoulin Island is considered to be part of the Canadian Shield; it has more in common with upper Michigan as far as the general terrain goes.

Yes I took my Triumph motorcycle one sunny summer day. I love the trek from Little Current to Gore Bay and viewing the north Channel. Great travelling there in October too. Just a wonderful place.

Sanfield rocks, so does Providence Bay. But I also love the westward trek to Silver lake on a warm windy sunny summer day with the waves crashing on the shore. But I also love the drive all the way to Meldrum Bay. Michigan is not too far away.
