Dick Buttons has class. What he said about Elena Liashenko was right. Elena Liashenko hasn't changed a bit. I love her but she hasnt changed and she wonders why she hasnt been on the podium at worlds and olympics.

I like dick Button's skating knowledge but sometimes his comments are just mean. I know he means to be honest be there is a place for everything but for the last comment is was not the place.

Dick Button means well, I think. But he was too harsh on Elena everything he said was so negative, for a viewer watching the Olympics it's not enjoyable to hear him bitch, whin, and moan. Every skater has their pluses and minuses, and Elena gave her best effort.
Soo true. Dick bitches way too much. I enjoy watching the EUROSPORT broadcasts. They're much more objective in their approach and they don't talk all the way through the performance.
I agree; some comments could have been kept to himself. However, as a former competitor, Dick has a lot of experience, and skaters DO look to people like him for advice. If the TV people didn't think Dick could pull it off being a commentator, he wouldn't have been doing what he has done for so long. Overall, I think he is good at what he does and a well-intentioned man. Hopefully, he realized that what he said was offensive and used that as a lesson for the future, as I'm sure we have all done.
That is why the English/British and Canadian commentators are the best. They not only have wise points and say it wisely, but they also know when to keep silent. Less is more.

Button, th first skater to land a double axel, and the first one to land a triple jump (the triple loop), so as a skater he was... good-ish... but as a commentator, and specially here as a person, so rude and stupid... he honors his name, cuz he truly is a DICK, what an asswhole...

Dick Button was being true to his name with this commentary. That was so incredibly rude. You have to commend this woman for remaining so good for so long. It's hard to believe she was 29. And Scott Hamilton was sooo chessy (as usual) by saying "you hear the birds churping in the background and she'll have to fly like a bird to compete with the rest of the girls." Like what these commentators have done in their years of skating was sooo remarkable. Hmmph.
Yeah I couldn't agree more - the American commentators are so biased. Instead of commenting on the good things - her speed across the ice maybe - he just keeps knocking her down. "I hope that's not being unkind...!" Idiot
