I loved the video and I can understand your feelings. But saying there is actually a difference between being half asian and european or just european or african etc. there is no difference between them except for appearance and maybe slight difference in personalities. Either way. In elementary it is logic that a person who is different than the others will have problems fitting in. But as an adult, noone that you want to be in contact with is narrow-minded enough to actually judge you for this
I have the same problem. I was born and raised in NYC but my family comes from parts of the Caribbean (West Indian (of the native of the islands )), Europe, Africa, and Asia....I don't know what name one would come up with for my mix. I've gotten "mutt" but that's an insult.
This was truly excellent. In every way. And, you were the cutest little boy! I'm very interested now in seeing the whole thing. I want to learn more about you, how you felt, how you feel now, your family, etc. Great job.
I like your work but I think cultural identity is overrated. You ARE Canadian, that is where you were raised and that is all that matters. Searching for a label to call yourself that nobody has heard of just adds to the confusion in my opinion.
If I asked someone what their backround is and they answered Hapa... that would just create more questions than answers for me.
@BizzMarki i disagree. What if a caucasian person was raised the first few years of their life in america, then they moved to europe, then after a few years of living in europe they moved to china? what would they be then? 1/3 american 1/3 european and 1/3 chinese? that wouldn't change their race, but their personality. But, what if a caucasian boy was raised in japan, spoke japanese and never went to america. Would he be considered japanese? Or american?

Man, I know how you feel. Being from a Spanish background and looking incredibly white, growing up everyone was asking me the same thing.
